      Nice beach house

Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This was called Pedro's Place last month. Nothing fancy but great for a beach house. Short distance to Banana azul, about 25 min walk along beach to town. You can hear the surf day and night. I would have liked better access to property manager, Susana. Tried to call her 5 times in one day, as we needed toilet paper and a light bulb. Finally reached her on our 2nd day there. I know she was in th midst of moving, so that may have been the reason. However, the day I did see her, when we checked in, she was very friendly, helpful and a great resource for our stay. Also be aware that while you pay your deposit by CC they want the balance in cash. I found this to be the case at Wahoo Fishing also.

      Perfect Vacation Spot

Left on 03/27/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Pedro's Place is a great option in Puerto Viejo. Susana the caretaker is wonderful. She helped us with everything we needed and even checked us in very late at night. The house itself is right on the beach. You have the beach to yourself. The house itself worked great for us. We rented both the bottom and top floors. There were 7 of us and the bedding worked great for us. We had 3 children with us and one slept on the couch bed each night. The house is rustic but met our needs fine. Felt very secure in the house. Also don't worry about it not having a/c. Open the doors and the porch area. With the fans it was very pleasant. My favorite part was sitting in a hammock listening to all the birds and seeing horses come through. Thanks for a great time.

      Beachfront Perfection!

Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in October 2011

My wife and I stayed at Pedro's Place last month for a postponed honeymoon. We couldn't have chosen a better spot! The owner and nearby manager were easy to work with and attended to all of our needs. The location was perfect; right on the beautiful black sand beach and within walking distance to nearby Puerto Viejo. We stayed in the upstairs apartment which is perfect for two people and has a fantastic view of the gardens and beach from an open air balcony.
We found Pedro's Place to be an exceptional value, accommodating and complete with all the conveniences we needed!
It was the perfect romantic getaway in Puerto Viejo and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic spot right outside of beautiful puerto viejo. The views were breathtaking, the owners were extremely hospitable, and gave all the privacy one needed. Thanks again and hope to see you next year.

      Property Owner with Integrity

Left on 06/09/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Although we were not able to stay at Pedro's Place due to a double-booking, the owner's response to the error was incredibly professional. We received a phone call within days and a full refund of our deposit as well as an honest apology. He offered us an alternate similar property and took full responsibility for the error. I was very impressed with how he dealt with the situation.

This is an owner who managed a mistake with integrity, without blaming any staff. We hope to someday spend time at Pedro's Place.

      great location with privacy

Left on 04/24/2011 for a stay in May 2010

A very private getaway that is actually on the beach! Lots of flora and fauna that is also close to amenities with a store, bar, bus stop, and hotel with breakfast and a tour agency all within a 5 minute walk. A nice front yard with visits from wild horses; I particularly liked all the fruit trees in the yard as well.

A great black sand beach in front with nice swimming and I noticed beds of sand dollars.

I'll be bringing my art supplies for our next trip to capture the beauty on canvas.

A beautiful beach front and a great value

Left on 01/23/2011 for a stay in May 2008

We were very happy with the house (amenities and housekeeping) and the great location - close enough to town to be convenient and tucked away enough to feel personal and secluded (it felt like our own private beach). The manager was great, very responsive and helpful, as was the owner who helped us switch dates without a hassle. A great value - highly recommended!

A perfect house at a great price right on the beach

Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in October 2009

We stayed at Pedros Place for the month of October, 2009. We loved it! The location was perfect: right on Playa Negra, just steps to a perfect beach with very few people. The house is wood which is pretty neat, screens on all windows keep the bugs out, and it stays very cool during the day. Unlike other houses we considered, Pedros Place has reliable high speed internet, phone, and cable TV. The wild horses are very gentle and really do graze on the lawn, sometimes six at a time. Very cool.

Susana, the caretaker, lives right down the street and is incredibly warm and friendly. She promptly responds to any questions or issues that come up. La Violeta is a well stocked quick mart just down the street. There are several hotels within walking distance that offer laundry service and buffet breakfast.

The town of Puerto Viejo is great. Such a cool vibe and so many restaurant to chose from. We had a hard time trying all the places we wanted to eat at. We felt very safe in town and at Pedros Place.

Overall, it was a great time, and we highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back next time we visit El Caribe.

An oceanfront vacation we will never forget...

Left on 09/29/2010 for a stay in March 2010

After we drove up, we were greeted by a local horse just strolling by the back yard. This was just one of the many charming characteristics of Puerto Viejo and Pedro's Place. This laid back style of living permeates every inch of this tranquil beach property and town. The home itself is cabin-like in feel and appearance. While it is not luxurious, it has all the necessities and allowed our family of 5 to stay--something many rentals do not allow. In addition, we shared the house with my sister and family. The quirkiness of some of the amenities simply reflect the lifestyle of the locals--a charming feature in our opinion. Susana, originally from the us, manages the property and lives just a few doors down in case you have any questions. Her husband René operates a taxi and can take you wherever you need to go. Our children, ages 12, 13, and 16 had an incredible time in the water and the black sand beach. Other than the horses, and an occasional passerby, we enjoyed our private beach as a family. Less than a mile from town, we walked to the public beaches and enjoyed time there, as well. We especially loved 'Carabean's Coffee' where they roast their own organic coffee harvested from local indigenous farms. And the kids flipped over the wildlife refuge just outside of town where they held baby monkeys and saw sloths and other animals up close. We considered staying closer to town, but decided the privacy, atmosphere, flexibility, and price were the perfect combination at Pedro's Place. Our kids often reminisce about this trip and all the memories we made--and after all, that's what it's all about.
