Local Geography
Punta Mita is 26 miles northwest of Puerto Vallarta at the northern tip of Bahia de Banderas, Mexico's deepest natural bay. To the east are the rugged Sierra Madre Mountains.
Climate
The weather in Puerto Vallarta is astonishingly nice, boasting 322 days of sunshine each year. During the winter, temperatures in Vallarta are in the low to mid 80's during the day with nighttime temperatures ranging from the 60-70° F. Summertime (June to October) is Vallarta's rainy season with temperatures ranging from the mid 80's to low 90's. Staying at Palmasola is like living a dream. Palmasola has the ambience of a vintage California beach resort. Situated on a gorgeous white sand crescent beach, the estate feels safe and serene. My favorite time is the hour before sunset when the kids venture to play in the light surf and the sand is warm and inviting. A nap on this beach took me to my childhood afternoons basking on the sand at Dana Strand beach near Laguna in California. The staff is super attentive and the food is delicious. If you want to fee like a rock star, stay at Palmasola.
We had an amazing stay at Palmasola. It is like staying at an impeccably designed 5-star boutique hotel where you and your friends are the only guests. Staff goes above and beyond- they will all know your name, your favorite drinks, make amazing spa cuisine or quesadillas at 2 in the morning. The beach in front is gorgeous and it is a 5 minute walk down the beach to the Four Seasons (where the beach is not as nice.) The rooms are all lovely but we were in the main house which has the incredible beach views. There are so many lovely places to sit, relax and take in the whole view. They also did a number of special dinners/parties over our stay and truly we were all blown away. For the ultimate vacation retreat, I could not recommend this more highly!
