Newburyport MAWonderful 5 days in Punta Santiago!
Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My family and I just returned from spending 5 days in Punta Santiago at Julius's house. We absolutely loved it! One of our best vacations. The house is very well represented in the pictures and the write up. There were only 4 of us and honestly, we could have had another family with us and still have had enough places to sleep. The house was clean and well laid out. Although we did not do much cooking, the kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of towels including beach towels. The backyard was a true tropical oasis with a great pool that we loved! It backs right up into the Humacao Nature Reserve. My son and I went kayaking one day into the Lagoon which was beautiful. Need specific instructions about how to get into the lagoon as it can be a bit tricky otherwise. We did not use the beach much because the water was fairly rough while we were there and there was quite a bit of seaweed. The pubic beach just down the street is really very nice. There were quite a few restaurants nearby the house which is located in a gated community. Julius was very welcoming. He lives next door and although not always there was there while we were. He was very helpful with suggestion while not being intrusive at all. We spent the last few nights in Old San Juan and wished that we had stayed the whole week at this wonderful place.

My sister, brother-in-law and two nieces spent a very enjoyable week at the Tropical Escape beach home! Nancy our concierge was very helpful and always available to answer our questions and to provide suggestions. The house was perfect for the 5 of us and we particularly like the huge yard with its many hamaks and its nice pool. Beware of the mosquitos - they'll eat you alive! The outdoor dining area however is nicely set up and enclosed. You'll be amazed by the sounds of the tropical forest - you'll never feel alone! The beach is wonderful and amazingly enough, practically uninhabited - we had the whole beach to ourselves! Water temperature for early March was perfect, basically the same as the balmy air temperature. There were calm water days but also days where body surfing or boogie-boarding was definitely fun! We're big fans of snokeling but the immediate beach surroundings aren't where it's happening. We tried the Kayaks both in the lagoon directly behind the house (not for the fainthearted!) and in the ocean - we recommend the latter or simply going over the public park down the street to access the large lagoons. The only thing lacking perhaps was a nice little bar right by the beach.
We enjoyed the rental and recommend it!

Perfection during one’s vacation is always hard, if not impossible to achieve. We try however, from the time the inquiry is made to the time you leave our gated community, on your way home, to reach perfection with service and the rental property we offer. The secluded “Cast Away” like beach, “huge” private back yard Sanctuary with screened in eating, and our concierge on call, are for those who relish peace and security combined with the sights and sounds of nature. We do have mosquito controlling devised that can be used when requested.
We are in a warm tropical environment with delightful temperature and a “balmy” Caribbean Sea breeze throughout the property.

The location of the villa is perfect for balancing the typical tourist attractions and off the beaten path adventures. We loved being located so close to the beach and the nature reserve. the backyard setting is beautiful and great for relaxing. Nancy and Julius were very helpful with suggestions and directions for our adventures and for dining experiences. We especially enjoyed getting to know Julius.

Left on 07/23/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Nancy was there to greet us and also is very attentive to any needs we had.The house was very comfortable, clean and inviting. The backyard pool is a great add on,just needs some backyard lighting, but Nancy came to the rescue an hooked us up with a Mcgyver light she rigged up for us"thank U Nancy".The only disappointment was the natural reserve in the backyard was off limits do the water level dropping so no kayaking, not even the ocean down the street was kayak friendly...I recommend to the owner to invest in a trailer that way renters can use those kayaks at a calm beach...Other than that this house is a great vacation spot, gives you a chance to enjoy a road trip in Puerto Rico an come back to a Clean House, with a Great Backyard.I would definitely come back..thank you Juluis

Review submitted: March 15, 2013 Date of arrival: February 18, 2013 We vacationed with my brother and his family and had a wonderful time. Kayaking, both in the mangrove swamp and in the ocean was one of the highlights. The house is simple, yet has everything you need for a pleasant escape. Julius and Nancy were quite accommodating, even arranging for perfect weather.
PLUS! Accent lighting now enhances pool deck.

Greenville, NYGreat Vacation
Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My wife and I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and picked the perfect location. The house was very clean, cozy and just far enough off the beaten track to relax but close enough to all kinds of great Puerto Rican sites and activities. Nancy, the concierge, met us on our arrival and made sure we were comfortable and knew where everything was, she also checked in with us before and during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The pool is an added bonus and provided a welcome soak after long days of climbing El Yunque, walking through the neighboring nature preserve, exploring Old San Juan and the Camuy Caves or being fortunate enough to kayak out to monkey island with Julius, the owner of this house and the one next door who came down a few days after us with his wife Linda for the Memorial Day weekend. The hammocks in the backyard brought another level of comfort to our visit, not to mention the best nights sleep my wife and I had in many years. We also enjoyed all the wildlife and got to try a delicious mango growing in the backyard. We chose to cook and eat in most evenings but did check out the local cuisine a few times, I recommend trying a mofongo if you have never tried one. Head east on route 3 to El Makito for a nice night out or walk to one of the several restaurants just down the road. We also were fortunate to meet several of the neighbors who were very warm and welcoming. All in all we had a great time and look forward to a future visit with the rest of the family.

Erie, CoRelax, enjoy, explore - with or without kids!
Left on 05/06/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Our family stayed for a week in March and it was as it says - a tropical getaway. We had seven children with us ages 6mos. - 17 yrs. and all of them enjoyed the proximity to the ocean, the pool in the back yard, the nature sanctuary, the use of the kayaks and boogie boards immensely. The house is well appointed with all linens provided and laundry onsite so towels could be dried or wash/dried as needed. The service provided by Nancy was excellent. She was helpful and informative and so sweet - there if we needed her.
The biggest positives for us as a family - the older kids could walk around the corner safely to get a snack/ice cream/burrito, etc. The neighborhood was friendly and safe and quiet. Use of the bar-b-que grill - gas - was fantastic as we like to eat well and like to keep our cooking outdoors. Outdoor eating area wonderful! Ceiling fans in every room a huge plus! Everything was just low key all around.
The negatives - I can only think of one and it is for me specifically, not necessarily everyone - I am a gourmet cook and I found the cooking pots/supplies very limited but that said, everything is available to cook with and had something been actually lacking, I'm sure Nancy would have supplied. Use of the grill made this work for us.
Having the nature reserve next door kept things quiet and peaceful. We did not all end up going kayaking in the reserve but this is a huge positive for the house location as it is just gorgeous! Iguanas and other wild life abound and we loved that! We all enjoyed the almost cacophony of nature sounds around us every night! -

Monroe, NYUnique Tropical Escape!
Left on 03/08/2012 for a stay in February 2012
My family and I stayed at Tropical Escape in February. The name says it all - the home and property were truly amazing. Everyone in our family, from the kids to my 80 yr. old mother-in-law, had an amazing time. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner and his concierge to let us in and help us get settled. The home was fully equipped with all amenities we needed from towels to internet. The highlight of the home was the secluded back yard with kayak access to the nature sanctuary. The kids were fascinated with all of the wildlife. There is also a newly installed pool that we were able to enjoy as well! Very convenient location and tons of literature in the house on restaurants and day trips. The beach is a very short walk from the house and every day we had the entire area practically to ourselves. This was an amazing trip and we can't wait to book our stay for next year!
