    Additional Location Information

The village of Puy l'Évêque is one of the prettiest in the region, with many golden houses clustering alongside the narrow medieval streets. Everyday shopping, including fresh local produce, can be bought in the village, and there are cafés and restaurants for sitting and relaxing. There is much to explore in the area, with easy access to caves, museums, churches, castles, and a great many little medieval villages, for which the Lot is famous. The property is well situated for a day out in the Dordogne with the town of Sarlat just an hour away or a visit to Agen in the Lot-et-Garonne. Plenty of activities are available, including tennis, horse riding, rock climbing and marked cycling and walking routes. Just across the river there is a swimming pool, which is great on hot summer days. If you are planning a visit, let the owners know your interests, and they will be happy to offer some suggestions

      An amazing surprise

Left on 04/28/2011 for a stay in August 2010

We arrived in Puy-I Eveque expecting a modest cottage tucked away in an back street and the usual lack of convenience. But, we found the most amazing historical cottage, located in the most amazing cultural center with dramatic views and a special ambiance. Rob and Kim were the perfect hosts as we embarked on a week of pure fun and joy. The surroundings are incredible, the activities close by are perfect for every age and I really hope that we can get back to Mariners cottages soon.

We have stayed at Mariners cottage three times and would rocommend it to anybody wanting peace and quiet.
The location is perfect just by the river Lot,shops and bakery just a few minutes walk.
The only drawback would be for anyone with mobility problems as there are some steps to climb.
Rob & Kim Harvey always make us very welcome and nothing is to much trouble for them.

      Like a dream...

Left on 04/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010

The house and village are excellent if you are looking to enjoy the simple life - no traffic, no crowds. The villagers are friendly and all you need is a short walk away. The house is very comfortable (we had a couple of friends and their 2 year old stay for a few nights - plenty of space). A splendid view across the river and nice vineyards to walk near-by. The owners are super-helpful!

      A fabulous France experience.

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in September 2008

We (my wife & I, Australians in our mid 60s) had passed through Puy l'Eveque on a previous visit and thought it a most charming village so were delighted to find Mariners Cottage on the internet. Booking was very easy, with Rob providing heaps of helpful information about the village, the region and of course the cottage. His directions were simple to follow and he was waiting when we arrived to show us how everything worked. The cottage was the genuine article, quaint but with all facilities and a comfortable bed ! Loads of information about restaurants tours and local markets was on hand but best of all Rob & his wife Kim were only a phone call away to answer any query. We absolutely loved our 4 week stay and would love to make a return visit.
