We were a group of 3 who stayed in the basement apartment. Gilles was very welcoming, helpful and gave great suggestions for things to do around the city, especially for New Year celebrations.
The apartment was very cosy for 3 people, close to a supermarket on Rue St Jean, shopping along that street, and a 10min walk to Vieux Quebec. This is convenient for those traveling without a car.
We enjoyed our stay and only had issues with the little oven in the kitchen taking a longer than normal time to bake and the microwave was a little temperamental.
We would only suggest that you verify the amenities in your room ahead of time as we thought ours would have 2 bedrooms and a clothes washer/dryer but it didn't. We weren't too bothered by that because it was an overall pleasant stay for 5 days. Merci pour tout, Gilles! -

For the price, I don't think you could find another vacation rental in such a good location in Quebec. The apartment is only a 5 minute walk from the Old City where there is great food, shopping, and nightlife. I also particularly enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen, floor-ceiling windows in the living room, and balcony off the bedroom. The apartment was nice and warm and felt safe because we had a key code to access the exterior door and then a separate key for our unit. The owner, Gilles, was friendly.
I am deducting .5 star for Beds & Bedding, and .5 for Parking. There is a double bed in the bedroom, sofa bed in living room, and an additional futon mattress available, but it has to be put on the floor. Parking is very expensive on weekdays, but luckily it is free on the street after 5 and on weekends.
I would definitely recommend this rental for a couple or small group traveling on a budget.
