People from everywhere flock to Port Franks' private beach to enjoy the expansive white sand, infinite shallow waters, sand bars and breathtaking sunsets. Located only a few minutes south of Grand Bend and the Pinery park, visitors can enjoy both worlds - the excitement of Grand Bend and the peace and traquility of Port Franks.

The Clarke cottage is located only steps from the best beach in Ontario. The beach!! The beach is beautiful – lots of sand and the shallow area stretches out for several feet (about fifty feet is our guess). The cottage is located on Mud Creek so boating is great. The sand bars at the beach are excellent for little ones.
Grand Bend
Enjoy the nightlife, scenery, unique shops, restaurants, mini golf, arcade and THE BEACH.
Grand Bend Motorplex
Racing every weekend & special events. Live concerts every long weekend. Take HWY 21 north to Grand Bend. At the second set of lights turn right. The motorplex is 3 km east of the beach on the left.
Huron Country Playhouse
Excellent shows offered from June to September. We’ve attended many and they’re better than any show we’ve seen in London. Book your shows ahead for great seats (it’s easy to get great seats). Shows run during the week and weekend. 1-888-449-4463
Starlight Drive-in
Double shows every weekend also some weekdays; triple movies on long weekends. Don’t go when it’s raining, especially if it’s raining heavy – you won’t be able to see the screen.
The Provincial Pinery Park
This park features hiking on great nature trails, canoe rentals, bike rentals or bring your own, food, partying campers, and ten great beach areas.
Golf
Golfers love Widder station just east of Thedford. Sand Hills has a driving range and is the closest golf course to the cottage. The Forest Golf Course and Oakwood (North of Grand Bend) are also good.
Grand Bend Flea Market and Antiques
Halfway between the cottage and Grand Bend is the Grand Bend Flea Market. It is open on Sundays (8AM – 4PM) April to October. There is another Antique market a bit further north on HWY 21 called Dale’s Countryside Antique Market.
Lambton Heritage Museum
Numerous authentic buildings to explore outside as well as indoor exhibitions. Different theme events ongoing.
Fishing
Many people fish off the pier at Grand Bend. The locals fish off the bridge on Outer Drive at the Port Franks conservation area.
Biking
There are biking trails in the Pinery Park, but also along Hwy 21 from the Pinery to Grand Bend.
Tennis
There are public tennis courts located at the Optimist Hall on Port Franks Road, just 5 minutes away from the cottage.
