Additional Location Information
The Cottage sits on a plateau 40m above the Shotover river. Beyond the river and to the north the main view is the coronet ski field 10 kms away.
Trelawn has a sheltered micro climate due to the Queenstown hill being the southern boundary to the property. Most guests will take a photo of the house with the huge big mountain back drop behind.
A large lawn and garden offers many places to sit and relax. The Gazebo and Jacuzzi are popular places to relax in the evening.
A 5 minute drive will have you in Queenstown, 12 minutes drive north is Coronet Peak Ski field, or if you drive across the river and head to Arrowtown 3 minutes north you will find one of New Zealand's best restaurants, this being the "Gantleys" restaurant.
Trelawn Place is surrounded on 3 sides by the Shotover river, see our photos of the location. Originally this location was a gold mining claim. You can see the old miners cottage on the site, as well as the old diggings that the Chinese miners did. You are free to walk our two corgi dogs around the hill side to see the larger gold mining area, called the Sugar Loaf.
The large rose garden is used for weddings. Ocassionally guests can be picked up from Trelawn by Helicopter for a scenic flight to Milford Sound.
The garden has featured in several NZ house and garden magazines over the years. Being keen gardeners you will see lots of colour in the hill side garden behind the house from early spring to late autumn.
The Shotover river was famous for the amount of gold that was extracted from it. Nowadays it is well know for its Jet boats. You can watch them for free from the Cherry tree house. Again look at our photos.
Nery and Michael have been hosting guests since 1989, along with this, they have enjoyed traveling to most places. With this experience they enjoy helping people with their exploration of the southern regions of the South Island. Michael is a keen skier.

Plenty of room in a beautiful setting. Very quiet but less than 5 minutes drive to noisy Queenstown. Also a great place to take a "day off" on a trip and relax. Will highly recommend to friends.

Very comfortable stay - convenient for Coronet and beautiful location; nice to come back after a days exploits and soak in the hot tub overlooking the Shotover. Michael had the fire lit for our return every day and when they found out it was our son's birthday during our stay, Nerry produced a fantastic home made cake for him on our return from ski-ing. Thanks again.

This was our third stay with Michael and Nery over the past sven years, and it just keeps getting better. Having made multiple trips to Queenstown over the years, I'm quite certain there are few places that offer views and hospitality as wonderful as that on offer at Trelawn. Fate willing, my family and I plan to make many a return trip in the years to come!

We traveled all over australia and New Zealand on our trip. We stayed at Marriott's in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. In Melbourne we stayed one night at the Intercontinental. I can honestly say that this place beat them all. The view was spectacular, the setting was perfect and Mike and his wife were the perfect host. We stayed in one of the "cabins" way more then a cabin. Close enough to downtown Queenstown but far enough out that you get the feeling your part of the scenery. Ten minute drive into town. Very pleased with this experience.

We had a fantastic weekend staying at Michael and Nery's cottage. We were made to feel welcome and Michael kept the fire well stocked for us so that we were nice and warm.
We loved the fact the accommodation is pet friendly and our 4 legged companion got to join us there. Michael and Nery even took him for a walk! Couldn't have asked for more. The cottage is lovely and cosy and the jacuzzi at the foot of the garden is just what u need after a day on the slopes.
Can't wait to visit again! We have already recommend the accommodation to friends. -

This was my second vacation at Trelawn, my first being in Dec 2001. Because of my previous experience of their hospitality, I was not about to consider anywhere else to stay in Q'town. Michael & Nery don't just offer accommodation, they provide a home away from home in a uniquely country homestead atmosphere. Since my first visit in '01, we have become good friends and I very much value that friendship. The welcome upon arrival and the extra little things they provide to their guests continually sees them going that extra yard. Whether it's booking trips or providing helpful advice on where to eat or updated weather forecasts, nothing seems to be too much trouble for Michael & Nery. The rooms are spacious, friendly and comfortable and filled with ambience. The gardens, lawns and the spectacular location all go towards providing a memorable vacation. Getting to walk the dogs in the mornings was a particular highlight also. I look forward to a 3rd visit in the next two years. If it's a friendly down home country experience that you are looking for at a reasonable price, then Michael & Nery's Trelawn Guest House is the place for you.
