Located on the edge of the historic center across from Alameda Park and Observatory, neighbored by the Bank of Ecuador with excellent access to transportation by taxi or trolley. Historic attractions, excellent restaurants and great parks - one with an observatory - are just steps away. A list of great restaurants waits for you in "your" apartment
In the opposite direction lies the famous La Mariscal area past El Ejido Park that features a mercado every weekend with crafts from Otavalo and beyond the park towards La Mariscal another mercado, but this one is permanent with lots of stuff from Otavalo and much more. It's called Mercado Artesenal Mariscal Sucre. The circular green and yellow building is a spiral mall... that takes care of your local shopping. To shop at the bigger, nicer malls, take a taxi to El Jardin or Quicentro. And there are grocery stores in the area to load up on for munchies in your apartment. Just ask the concierge where. The malls have bigger grocery stores where you can really find most anything you want.
The neighborhood is very safe to walk in daylight, and many walk in groups at night. Of course, always be aware of your surroundings as in any city.
Many visitors take day or night tours with the Quito (city) Tour Bus very inexpensively, and there's also private day or night tours where you can be picked up and dropped off at the front door of your apartment. I highly recommend Angel of Quinde Adventure Tours, and if he picks you up at the airport, you can negotiate with him personally.

My wife and I stayed for the month of Jan 2013 in this quaint 4th floor apt. A very good view of the active street life. The apt had all the amenities required for our stay. The apt caretakers were very accomodating in our laundry services. Our host andrellita took us on a few wonderful trips of the Equator, Otavallo and Cotacachi, plus a few historical churchs in down town Quito. Andrellita is a gracious host fluent in Spanish and has a great sense of humour and the energy to match. Get your running shoes ready if you go on a walk with her. We would highly recommend her apt as a place to stay as it is close to all amenities and you get the experience of her expertise if you require.

This apartment was a great choice for my wife and I as it was fantastically located within walking distance of everything in the centro historico (old town) of Quito. Also, the transport links outside the apartment were great and you could get to any part of the city quite easily and conveniently. It was well furnished and honestly there was nothing we had to buy as it was all provided. The internet worked great during our 6 week stay and we didn't have a single problem with anything in the apartment. At night it is very quiet and so makes for great undisturbed sleep. Another great plus was that the owner provides you with an Ecuadorian mobile phone.

Its refreshing to find things better than described! We received airport pick up and return with courtesy and efficiency. Located just steps from the Trole with access to all parts of the city for 25 cents. Easy walking distance to historical district and Mariscal. Nicely appointed apartment with everything you need for a comfortable stay. This apartment is on the 4th floor so adjusting to walk up the stairs at that altitude takes a day or two. It is worth the effort!
The owner speaks excellent English and Spanish. Angel who picked us up from the airport also speaks English and is available for guided tours. We will rent this place again when we return. Thank you for the great stay!
