Antwerp, BelgiumBeautiful and well situated but cold and damp house
Left on 03/05/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We stayed in this house during the first week of February, which turned out to be a chilly and rainy week. The house was beautiful, with a cosy patio and roof terrace with a magnificent view. We were very well received by the friendly owner.
Unfortunately, because of the cold weather and the lack of a central heating system and isolation in the house, it was very chilly and damp inside. Clothes wouldn't dry even three days after washing them. Even the small electrical heaters that were provided for the living room and bedrooms couldn't really solve this problem. Also, the house was not very clean, especially the floors and the sofa. The bathrooms on the other hand were quite clean.
Another disadvantage of the house were the very poor mattresses. You could feel the springs sticking in your back.
Despite these problems, we think this house would be a very agreeable place to stay during warmer months.Response from Reno Tanti - 03/20/2013
Owner
Hi Jolien,
Thanks for your feedback and your positive comments. Unfortunately high humidity is very common in Malta and this contributes to having cold houses. As you said we provided you with heaters which normally solve the problem but your week was really a very cold week even more cold than usual. I have taken note of the cleanliness issue and will inspect the house myself with next guests to make sure that out standards are maintained. Re mattress, I have located the mattresses you indicated and these have been changed. Regards. Reno -

A lovely house near Rabat parish church and very close to Mdina. We only stayed for a few days over Christmas and had a lovely time. The house has pretty much all you need for a stay with a family. Reno was great with organisation.

Saltash,CornwallPerfect holiday in a wonderful holiday home
Left on 09/19/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Reno was very efficent with our booking arrangements especially as we only booked the holiday with 15 days notice. The house is exactly as advertised even better because the pictures do not do the house justice ! We travelled in august was cool even though outside was scorching hot. Apparently in winter, the house is then warm due to it's thick walls.
There is a good bus service to Valletta and other strategic points in Malta. Within walking distance there are local shops and plenty of restaurants. The magnificent Silent City of Mdina is a stones throw away.
I will definetly recommend this house first because of it's location and second for the excellent service provided by the owner, Reno. It was our first holiday in Malta and we will certainly return to Casa Melita. -

RomaFantastic holiday in a fantastic holiday home
Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I highly recommend this accommodation. I spent a wonderful week with my family (parents and two very small children)! The house is expertly renovated and equipped with everything we needed. The location is very quiet and perfect for touring the island and enjoy the many places in the historic center of Malta, but also perfect to reach the beautiful beaches around. In addition Reno and Brigitte were really nice and very helpful, so that we consider them our friends! We shall definetely recommend this house to all our friends and family. In fact, my brother is already going to book his holiday here in august.

182187The perfect house on the perfect street in the perfect place
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed here for 3 weeks in May 2012. We are a family of four, with two young children. The house is on a very quiet pedestrian-only street. It is within walking distance to Mdina and many historic sights. I would not necessarily call it "luxury" (by North american standards) but it is a perfect house in a perfect spot.
The owners were fantastic to deal with and helped us out with car rental and babysitting.
The house could benefit from having wireless internet as the internet stick we rented didn't have great reception, although the town square nearby (30 seconds from the house) has free wireless, as do many other places in Malta.
Once we figured out the driving/parking situation in Malta, we were able to check out most of the island. After seeing many wonderful sights and places, it simply reinforced that this is a great home base if you are looking for an interesting, safe, low-key, family-friendly trip. -

UKLovely house, great location
Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Very pleasant restored house in a really handy location. Owner was great to deal with. Mattresses quite firm but not uncomfortable and some occasional noise from church bells - but not enough to keep you awake. Otherwise totally quiet and hard to fault. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

HitchinHouse of character in great location with easy access to Malta's
Left on 01/02/2012 for a stay in December 2011
My wife and I spent a few days in Casa Melita with another couple for a winter break. The house was as attractive in reality as it looked in the photos, in a picturesque, traffic-free street. Reno was very helpful at check-in and available throughout the stay, although we did not need to call him. We had everything we needed and there was more than enough space for the four of us. The location is ideal, with local shops and restaurants almost on the doorstep in Rabat and more just a short walk away in Mdina with its tourist attractions. We found parking space in nearby car parks and on the streets without too much difficulty. Rabat is conveniently situated in Malta for easy access to all corners of the island. Recommendations include an early morning walk around Mdina, a visit to the catacombs in Rabat, coastal walks nearby at Dingli, further afield at Golden Bay and around the azure Window on Gozo and a visit to the cathedral in Valletta. We were glad of warm clothes and waterproofs in December in Malta. The house itself was cold at this time of year, with no central heating, but we took advantage of the heaters provided and used the bedclothes from the third bedroom to keep us warm at night. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend this house, especially at a warmer time of year.

Left on 12/25/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Fabulous location in a beautiful village. The house would easily accommodate 6 people and is extremely well equipped, with a beautiful conversion which has been done with great taste.
We were made very welcome on arrival and will definitely be back. The owner could not of been more helpful from start to finish, what a great guy. He even helped us locate our lost luggage from the airport. He definitely went out of way to help us,
The property is ideally located in a very nice village with everything to hand. A great position to explore all of the island , even if you do not have a car. We could not of asked for more!

Left on 12/16/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This is a well renovated spacious property situated on a quiet "predestrians only" street right in the centre of Rabat, and only 5 mins walk from the main gate of "The Silent City" of Mdina. The owner was very helpful and flexible.
On the downside there is no car parking at the property and parking is an issue throughout the town. Also the beds were quite uncomfortable, but the owner has promised to change the mattresses soon!Response from Reno Tanti - 12/29/2011
Owner
Hi David, thanks for your positive review.
I am really glad you enjoyed staying at Casa Melita as you did at Casa Rustika and Ta' Zaren Farmhouse when you stayed in Malta & Gozo.
For your peace of mind and as promised, we have now changed our mattresses.
Hope to see you again soon !

Brisbane, AustraliaBeautiful home in beautiful Malta
Left on 12/11/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We've stayed in many self catering places in australia and in Europe, and we agree that Casa Melita rates very highly, and we'd gladly recommend this lovely home to our friends and family if they were ever to travel to Malta.
The house has been beautifully restored and is comfortably furnished. The location is fantastic, close to every shop, cafe and restaurant we could have wanted, and of course the short walk to beautiful Mdina. Reno is a great host. There was a very helpful array of produce for us when we arrived, including a bottle of local red. Reno arranged for our airport pickup, he organised a home-cooked meal for us on our first night, and made sure we were happy with everything.
We really loved staying in the quiet and clean pedestrian only street and found the free wifi easy to access from the council office around the corner.
Our holiday in Malta was wonderful and we'll always remember the beautiful home, the very friendly locals and the great weather, as well as Reno's hospitality. -

HammWonderful house, we really loved to stay there!
Left on 12/07/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Welcoming has been very warm and as soon as we approached Rabat we have been guided to the house. Wonderful ist the provided package with some toast, butter and water on arrival, that makes the first hours very easy. We really felt welcome - and we felt at home.
It would be nice if there would be any kind of heating - I know that this is not needed most of the time, but the first two days have been really cold - well, a sweater more and everything has been fine, but just in case that the owner will think about perfectioning the house one day. On the other hand: we had everything else we needed, information about the surroundings, shops etc. were great - and the location is fantastic, one feels really immersed in maltese life, which is exactly what we wanted.

Left on 12/07/2011 for a stay in November 2011
The house proved to be more than the pictures showed. Its perfectly converted into a comfortable and welcoming house with very bright rooms. Reno was a perfect host and we appreciated his meeting us personally upon our arrival. The house is located in a quaint and typical Maltese pedestrian street within a 5-minute walk to the old capital Mdina. We'll very definitely return! Thanks Reno!!
