Description from the manager

This authentic Tuscan stone farmhouse set in the middle of 45 acres of olive groves and Holm oak woods has been lovingly restored over the course of 30 years and is now a wonderful place for any family to relax and enjoy its panoramic views. It does have a certain age to it - the kitchen dates back to the 13th century and the mulberry tree (mora) with its child-proof swing is 300 years old and once contributed to the silk industry that flourished in this area. Yet having been restored with respect and with comfort in mind, it is now quite ready to welcome the modern traveler.

In the Tuscan tradition, entrance is into the large kitchen w...Read more

Authentic comfortable farmhouse in fantastic position

Left on 07/04/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We had a second memorable stay at La Mora (Lo Spugno). The house is in a wonderful position and has fantastic views. It is authentic but with all mod cons, very comfortable and clean. There is a very big pool well maintained. The surroundings are beautiful -olive groves, vines, lavender hedges, cherry trees. There are lovely walks from the house and lots to see locally. This is a really special place in a beautiful and really peaceful setting, about 10 minutes drive from Radda where there is a good bus service to Sienna and Florence. Highly recommended!

We Want More of La Mora

Left on 10/14/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Our family of 5 unanimously says that we would go back to La Mora. The home is comfortable, charming and welcoming. The kitchen and baths are large and modern. The grounds are beautiful and private. The pool area kept the kids entertained for hours. Radda is a short drive away and was one of our favorite villages (check out La Perla restaurant). We hope to return to La Mora (though the home is actually called Lo Spugno). Note that there is no phone on the property--we wished there was just in case of an emergency as the water went out the first night after some thunder. Thankfully the caretaker comes by every day so we were able to get the water turned on the next morning. If you want a peaceful, private, comfortable retreat that is still close to town, this is it.
