CalgaryGreat Experience
Left on 03/01/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We are from Calgary, and our relatives were coming from the States and we've planned to take them to Radium Hot Springs and Fairmont Ski Hill for the long weekend, so we've booked 2 one-bedroom apartments in the Bighorn Meadows Resort. We've loved the location of this luxurious resort. The view from the balcony was beautiful, we were very lucky with the mild weather, so our stay was wonderful.

The stay was disappointing
Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012
First let me say that the unit 323 was very clean and well equipped. Although the unit is equipped for four occupants the layout is only suitable for two. It is necessary for everyone to go to bed at the same time and everyone to get up at the same time . The staff or rules are very inflexible. We had a guest for a couple of days and the pullout was the most uncomfortable we've ever experienced. When we asked if we could pay extra to be moved to a 2 bedroom for our last couple of days the answer was a categorical 'no'. The resort was 90% empty at the time. The noise from the unit above us was excessively loud. We did not find the desk staff to be very gregarious or helpful as far as local activities. Disappointed, we left a day early.

Owner
Thank you very much for your comments,
I’m sorry that your stay was not more enjoyable. It’s disappointing to hear about the uncomfortable bed, noise and lack of flexibility from our guest services team when it came to moving rooms. Please know that this is not a typical experience for our guests.
Based on the comments and date of your stay I’m assuming you were a timeshare guest and you stayed as an exchange guest through Interval International. Room moves can sometimes be a challenge for timeshare exchanges at our resort because the units are individually owned (not pooled as in many timeshare resorts). An owner placed a week in their specific unit into the timeshare program. Unfortunately it’s not possible for us to move an exchange guest without charging rent on the new unit, hence our inability to move you to a larger unit for a simple upgrade fee.
Thank you again for sharing your comments. I’m going to try to reach you by telephone later today to see if there is anything we can do to make this situation right.
Sincerely,
Michael Anderson

Red Deer, AlbertaOne of the nicer places to stay in Radium
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We booked a one bedroom condo and were pleasantly surprised - it was very spacious with a living area/kitchenette (sink/fridge/microwave) and the couch turned into a hideabed for the kids. The bathroom was large and the bedroom had a kingsize bed in it, and still there was a lot of room - off the bedroom was a nice size deck overlooking the course - couldn't ask for more! The room was clean, well stocked and there was nothing else we needed. We used the pool, and although it was a cool day/overcast, the kids felt it was warm enough in the water and enjoyed themselves. Our only complaint was the loud and noisy neigbour above us that literally paced the floor for three hours on the Holiday Monday morning and woke all of us up - not the resort's fault but does speak to fact that you can hear the neigbors! There are not a lot of great family type restaurants in Radium/Invermere and next time I would recommend paying the extra for a full kitchen/bbq unit - you will be happier with your own cooking - we ended up going to Sobeys and buying "picnic" food for the deck for lunch on the one day as we had such a terrible meal at "Huckleberries" - avoid at all costs! Likewise, other restaurants were either closed (on a long weekend?), long closed down (but still with signage up) or full and required a reservation, so on the Saturday night we struggled to find somewhere to eat dinner, outside of a fast food joint. Easy walk (even with kids) from the resort to the main drag in Radium for coffee etc. Kids enjoyed seeing deer on the course - all in a good "minibreak". Service at check in/out was good - but not overly memorable.
