      Byron Bay, Australia

A very nice place to be

Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We are a family of 4 persons, the children are 12 and 5, and all of us enjoyed our stay of 10 Days at Bularangi villa. It is a quiet place with a wonderful view of the Ocean and of the islands; it is really a dream to have the breakfast on the terrace with such a nice view.
The house itself is perfect for a family, nice bedrooms, 2 big bathrooms, an impressive and modern kitchen, a TV room and a lounge.
The pool is large enough for a family and we spent a lot of time in it, especially the children.
The 2 helpers Nanju and Kamlesh are very kind and ready to make our stay pleasant.
An other asset is the nearby resort ( 7 minutes walk) with restaurant, bar, big pool, beach and different sport activities which are needed by the children.
We are expecting to return at Bularangi next year -with the unanimity of the family.

Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Bularangi is a beautiful & well appointed villa. Enjoyed having morning coffee in the oceanside bure while watching the sunrise. The only problem we had was that the Wananavu Resort, closest to the villa, was closed for renovations. We did not have our own vehicle, so we were a little stuck. We did walk (about an hour) to the other resort, Volivoli Beach. The caretake of Bularangi, Kamlesh, called the resort to make sure we arrived. The owners of the villa provided us with all the information necessary to make the stay enjoyable. We will be staying there again in the future.

      Heavenly place!

Left on 01/13/2013 for a stay in January 2013

I spent the weekend with friends at Bularangi and had an absolutely amazing time. The villa is set in the most scenic of Fijian countryside with 180 degree views of the ocean and islands. The villa is very well decked out with everything that you would need for time away in the sun including a large BBQ, pool and snorkling equipment. There is also a little kabana on the peninsula which is magical, sitting there having a morning cup of coffee or doing a few yoga poses was a perfect way to wake up. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

      The Best Family Vacation Ever!

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We are a family of four with two grown children ages 23 (boy) and 26 (girl). We spent two weeks over Christmas and New Year at Bularangi. Our daughter flew from Sydney and we flew from the us. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our family reunion.

The House: The house is very well-designed. The master suite is on one side of the Great Room and the other two bedrooms are located on the opposite side. The two bedrooms share a bath and the master bedroom is ensuite. I loved the closet (dressing area) in the master bedroom. It is located behind an open wall within the bedroom. It gave us privacy but still had the open air feeling. Each bedroom had its own air conditioning unit. All the bathrooms have large walk-in showers. The great room is a huge room with a kitchen, living room with TV and dining area. Every room in the house has incredible ocean views. The only downside in the kitchen is that there is only a small refrigerator. The large refrigerator is in the laundry room, along with a large freezer and another small refrigerator. The laundry room is down the hall so not far from the kitchen. The entire house has screens, which makes it nice to keep the bugs out. There are plenty of books and movies in the house for entertainment. The house is set away from other houses which gives a lot of privacy.

The Property: The location of Bularangi couldn’t have been better. It is located on a point above the shore views in all directions. There are three islands across the water, about a mile offshore. Daily, my husband and I would sit in the thatched open-air hut (bure) on the point, reading and enjoying the incredible views. We are not pool people but we found we would swim in the pool several times each day. It was a refreshing way to cool off. Following a short path down the hill, you will find the beach. Rubber soled water shoes are useful, especially at high tide. The snorkeling is incredible where the coral and the deep sea meet. When we first arrived, a few days after Cyclone Evan, the snorkeling was not great. There were many more fish and clearer water during our second week. The water is shallow at low tide, so we needed to be careful when swimming, to not scrap against the coral. If you are looking for a sandy beach, you can walk to Wananavu, the wonderful nearby resort that accommodates Bularangi guests.

Activities: When I booked Bularangi, I was concerned that there would not be enough activities, especially for our kids. Ali (the owner) assured me that we would not be disappointed. How right she was! The house is a five minute walk from the Wananavu resort. Wananavu had plenty of activities to keep us busy. We did the introductory dive. It was beautiful under the water. I wish we had gotten certified before we arrived in Fiji. We visited a Fijian Village and walked to a waterslide. Some people took the horses to the falls but we were glad we hiked. It was not steep or slippery, even though it had rained the night before. The teenagers and younger children of the village accompanied us to the waterfall. They were extremely polite and cheered us on, when we got up the courage to go down the slide or jump from the top. We hired a boat to take us to Nananu-I-Ra, one of the offshore islands, where we had lunch and walked along the long beach. On another day, we took a boat to the ocean side of Nananu-I-Ra for snorkeling. The visiability, fishes and corals were magnificent. We had pedicures and massages at Wananavu. They were fantastic. All activities were very inexpensive compared to us prices.

Transportation: We did not rent a car. Ali arranged a 7-10 passenger van to pick us up from Nadi and drive us to Bularangi. It was great to have the extra room for seating and luggage. The air conditioning felt wonderful. While we were at Bularangi, we hired a Taxi twice to take us to Rakiraki town for food. Twice we walked to Volivoli resort and took a taxi back.

Food and Beverage: I would highly suggest you pre-order your meats, since there is a huge freezer to store the meat. For a little extra money the driver will stop at a grocery store in Nadi on the way to Bularangi. The grocery stores in Nadi have a larger selection than the markets in Raki Raki. Be sure to load up on bottled water (it is not recommended to drink the tap water at Bularangi. Since it was our daughter’s during our vacation, we celebrated it by asking Kamlesh to prepare a Lovo for us. It was amazing to watch how he and his wife prepared the food and then covered the food over hot rocks buried in the ground. We had a huge dinner with great food. We invited Kamlesh and his wife to join us. We had Manju prepare four meals for us. She is a very good cook. We especially loved her Somosas and we had her make them twice! She will cook during the day and leave the food to be warmed when we were ready to eat dinner. We also had several dinners and breakfasts at Wananavu. It was nice to take a break from the kitchen. Also, it was fun to go to the happy hour at Wananavu and order fancy cocktails for $12 FJD. On Christmas day, Wananavu had an incredible buffet with lobster, crab, and meats. If we had to eat there every night, I think we would have gotten tired of the food. We had the perfect balance of our own cooking, Manju’s cooking and dining at Wananavu.

Kamlesh and Manju: Kamlesh is the caretaker and Manju cooks and cleans. They are both extremely kind people. We took Kamlesh and Manju into town with us. It felt comforting to have them nearby to show us the town, help us with shopping and make suggestions for meals. We found that the local people were extremely polite and friendly (it was not unusual for children and adults to approach us with a warm “Bula” and handshake).

If you are considering booking at Bularangi, you will not be disappointed. This was our best family vacation ever! Thank you ali, Kamlesh and Manju!

Beautiful house with a breathtaking view

Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Our stay at this villa was amazing! The condo itself is so well equipped and Kamlesh and Manju were so helpful to us. The pool was the thing that made the holiday for us and our kids. We also really enjoyed snorkelling right out front of the resort. All the equipment was there for us to use, and my 6 year old was thrilled with his first snorkelling experience. Ali and Baz were so helpful with the booking and arranging the transfers. The only downside is the trip from the airport. It is 2&1/2 hours at least. But it is a beautiful trip and you get to see so much of the "real" Fiji on your way. The resort next door was nice to have a meal at, but we enjoyed the meals that Manju cooked for us the most! It was such an amazing experience.

      Ultimate Relaxation and Solitude!

Left on 12/02/2012 for a stay in November 2012

I was looking for a beautiful, peaceful and private getaway to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Bularangi did not disappoint! Met all our expectations, and then some. Pictures do not do the property justice -- stunning! Kamlesh, the caretaker, spends his day tending to the property (the gardens are immaculately maintained) and is discreet. Yet he is at-hand if you need anything, including arranging a visit into town for provisions. Manju prepared most of our evening meals for us, which was very convenient. Kalmesh prepared a Lovo for us -- a must-do!! We took a few meals at Wananavu, the local resort, just a short walk from the villa. The food at Wananavu was fine, but rather unremarkable. Ali, the owner (lives in New Zealand) is a darling!! She worked with me over a two-month period (via email) to make all the preparations, including the hook-up with Casey Quimby and Fiji's Finest Tours (for the other leg of our trip in the Yasawas, and the hook-up with Heli Tours!) and South Pacific Butchering in Nandi to get some fresh beef and chicken up to the villa for our stay! Well done, Ali. And Thank You for sharing your home with us for this special occasion!

      Complete relaxation!

Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at Bularangi and would have to be one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. On arrival we were happy to find that the villa looked even better than in the photos. The house is spacious and well laid out and we found it suited us, our 2 children and my parents. Ali was great with prebooking our transport and arranging meat for us from the butcher in Nadi. We were pleased we had done this as when we arrived we found the resort next door was closed for a private function for the next 6 days so we were unable to utilise their facilities. There is a good utilities room with plenty of fridge and freezer space so very easy to self cater. The pool was lovely and we used it from sunrise until sunset, the gardens also lovely. The views out to the ocean and islands you could never get sick of looking at. We found while we were there the wind was quite relentless but always could find a spot somewhere at the villa to escape it. We enjoyed snorkelling out on the reef in front of the house and the kids loved frog and lizard hunting at night. Kamlesh was very helpful and even organised a birthday cake for us. We enjoyed visiting a new part of Fiji and the peace and quiet completely recharged our batteries. We all said we've never slept so well! Vinaka :)

      The most relaxing holiday

Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We spent 9 days at Bularangi and we were sad to leave. To start with the people in Fiji are so friendly wherever you go. The drive there takes around 2.5 hours. As you get closer to the villa the road deteriorates but don't worry it is well worth the drive. The villa is spacious - we were 5 adults. It has spectacular water and island views. It has everything you need from snorkelling gear to a well kitted out kitchen. The brother and sister team who look after the house and meals were wonderful. The lovo and meals provided were great and well worth the extra money. If we go again we will order meals for every second night because there were lots of leftovers. We did the picnic excursion, hired a kayak and did an introductory dive course through the resort next door which were all good value. The meals at Volli Volli resort were better than the resort next door. We hope to go back one day. We couldn't fault it.

I surprised my husband with a relaxing 7 days at Bularangi villa and wow how beautifull and relaxing. This villa is so well designed and looked after you just couldnt ask for anything else. The living area is big and with plenty of windows with lots of natural light and that lovely fiji warm air gently flowing through, and the view from every window was to die for.The bedrooms also had shuters and doors with mosquiot screens on them so you could sleep with them open. The pool was fantastic big enough to get some excerise and shallow enough for children at one end.The staff were very nice and helpfull with local knowledge being a great help. The caretaker organised some fresh cocnuts for us the try and Mongu cooked dinner for us it was very nice and also taught us how to make a perfect roti.We used local taxi and they were there in a flash. The resort next door was good for a visit and a change of scenery, but our pool at the villa was better than the resorts. This villa was well worth the trip from Nadi unique location on a point even though you had a 2/30 min trip the transfer is well worth getting, local driver to guide you where to get groceries and meat on your way to villa, all sorted.Awesome

Amazing Villa with a wonderful staff!

Left on 07/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012

After researching many options for our first trip to Fiji, we chose Bularangi because of the wonderful service provided by ali and her staff. We were concerned about the location since it was a 3 hour drive from Nadi airport and in a very remote location. However, Ali was so helpful in providing our transportations/transfers, recommendations for picking up provisions and scheduling our dives with Ra Dive. They were booked full but due to ali's help, we were able to schedule 3 days of diving in the sunshine coast. Kamlesh and Manju our caretakers were so helpful. Kamlesh took us into Raiki Raiki which was onle 15 minutes away and we had a great time in the farmers markets and experiencing a local village. The villa was spectacular and it was great having the master suite apart from the other 2 bedrooms so we could all have some privacy but shared our meals in the main dining area. The accomodations were very nice but the internet was not working so we used the Wananavu resort next door which was only a 5 minutes walk on the beach. I would highly recommend staying at Bularangi!

Thank you ali and Baz for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. You were a joy to deal with and nothing was too much trouble to organise. We had a wonderful family holiday with my parents and our 3 young children (aged 6, 4 and 2). The house was amazing - it was very spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The pool was fantastic. Our kids were in it from sunrise to sunset! We were able to truly relax knowing that we had our own private space (as compared to a resort) and didn't have to worry if the kids were being rowdy. We had the best of both worlds really - privacy in our own villa but access to organised activities through the nearby resorts should we choose to head out for the day. The day trips organised through Wananavu Resort are definitely worth checking out. We would highly recommend the trip to the waterfall and the day trip to Nananu-i-Ra island. The snorkelling on the island and in front of the villa was superb. Manju and Kamlesh were just wonderful and we couldn't have asked for more from them. We have recommended the villa to all of our friends and we will definitely be back! Thanks so much for a brilliant holiday.

      Bularangi Villa is wonderful, well setup and equiped with all you need.The villa is spacious with high ceilings and a wonderful flow through the house and out to the pool which opens up to look straight out to the ocean and islands beyond. We brought food and supplies with us from Nadi to the Villa and the kitchen and 2 x fridges and seperate freezer catered well for our group. Manjula cooked us a wonderful indian meal which lasted us for dinner and lunch the next day. The Wananavu resort is a simple walk next door and we took their snorkelling trip most days to different spots around the island for some wonderful coral/fish to see. Kamlesh and Manju are wonderful. The master bedroom with ensuite is a wonderful place to stay. We had 6 adults and still felt like we had plenty of room. A very beautiful place for some R&R.;

Service was excellent. Hosts gave plenty of advise. The home was well laid out and certainly made you feel in holiday mode. Grounds were well tended by local person and very friendly. Location was great to be able to be away from the hustle and bustle. House gave everything that was promised. Shopping in the town before the drive to Bularangi was abit chaotic due to just getting off the plane and then trying to find suitable items to buy. There was a better supermarket not far from the Mercure (which is going 10 minutes the wrong way) but had a much better selection of fruit, veges and meat. However, it has been a great experience and the weather and locals were terrific. Resorts nearby Bularangi Volivoli and Wananavu, were so welcoming for us to use their facilities, it was most memorable.

Awesome private villa in a stunning location

Left on 01/23/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We were looking for a venue for family from around the world to gather for Christmas. This villa was ideal. We had three couples and two young children, so were at capacity however did not feel crowded in the slightest. Beautifully appointed we had everything we needed (in particular great swimming pool). The resort Wananavu is literally only 5 min walk away and well worth a visit for a spa treatment, cocktail, meal or water sports. Ali was fantastic with pre-arranging meat and wine delivery (highly recommend this). Cannot get real coffee in Fiji so bring your own. Local shopping for fruit and vegies quite different but okay. Definitely require a 4wd to get there (leave about 3 hours travelling time if it is pouring rain). Great help/advice from local caretakers Kamlesh and Mandu. Absolutely loved the breathtaking view and privacy.

If you are trying to decide between a resort or a house, choose this house. It costs almost the same as a resort but you get the whole house to yourself. Privacy, comfort and great views. The great thing about this house is that you are a short walking distance to a nearby resort where if you get cabin fever, you go next-door to eat, drink, sign up for tours and dive. The owner answers all emails promptly and delivers on all promises. No hidden fees no surprises. They will even give you good advice on shopping and transport. During your stay you will be pampered by the 2 full-time staff that can answer your every question and even arrange for fishing or snorkel trips. We stayed for 2 weeks and it was awesome. Highly recommended.

You are very lucky to have them. Overall we wanted our honeymoon to be very relaxing and Bularangi was just the place. We would recommend your villa to everyone from the elderly to people with small children. We hope to come back soon!

Just one word can be used to sum up Bularangi - fabulous.
Kamlesh and Manju greeted us on arrival then helped us to settle in,then Kamlesh showed us the many features of the property that help to make our stay even more enjoyable.
Kamlesh and Manju were very helpful at all times, whether we wanted some fresh fish, coconut milk, roti or samosa they were always ready to oblige.
The villa has probably the best view of any place we have ever experienced in
Fiji and the design is perfect for the location. The whole property is immaculately maintained, with special mention of the pool area. The kitchen is very well equipped and ideal for self catering which is one thing we really appreciate.
We have spent many weeks and months in Fiji over the last 36 years, staying at many various resorts, apartments and villas where we snorkled, sailed, cruised, tried all kinds of fishing etc.- all the things you do when young and fit. Now we have found what we think is the very best place for us in Fiji- Bularangi is perfect for our needs now.
I could write a lot more but by now I think you have a good idea of how much we liked Bularangi.

      One out of the box

Left on 08/09/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Our time at Bularangi was unlike other holidays we have had in Fiji. We experienced the 'real' Fiji. It's people. Kamlesh and Manju became our friends and shared their Fiji with us. Our children and ourselves learnt so much about their culture. We learnt some Fijian Indian words, learnt how to cook Fijian Indian food (our 10 year old made us onion and garlic Roti for breakfast one morning after Manju had taught us), and immersed ourselves in the culture - albeit for a very short 2 weeks. The house, you can see from the photos, is stunning, the views magnificent, the pool luxurious - and equipped with everything you need or desire. They have thought of everything - the torch for night trips to the neighbouring resort (which was eventful and exciting with frogs leaping left and right as you return home after a few cocktails)!! The first aid kit, books, dvd's, music ...the list goes on. I notice details and there are many to notice - very savvy and thoughtful. On arrival, with music playing in the background, shutters and doors open in welcome, tropical flowers in water, Kamlesh with his gorgeous big smile - and that amazing view - what could be better.

The resort next door welcomed us and treated us like royalty - the food was brilliant, the staff incredibly friendly - and they remembered our names. We also tried Voli Voli a few times which was relaxed and the food good also.

This holiday is one out of the box. It is an 'experience' - and a secret waiting for to unfold. All you have to do is be open to it and enjoy.

Thank you Kamlesh and Manju - you are amazing people - and ali and Baz for sharing your Fiji with us.

Well, how can you describe the perfect accomodation, perfect location, pefect hospitality, perfect owners...

      Heaven on Earth!!!

We came to Bularangi to relax, and have a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. What we got exceeded expectation...

Despite the rocky road to the Villa, and the fact that a wedding function had shut down the nearby resort for most of the week, Bularangi has to be seen to be beleived.

Overlooking the islands to the north, with breathtaking views, a wonderful pool, plenty of room and a real gem.

The staff at both nearby resorts were incredible and meant we could breakup the week with visits / meals / activities.

Kamlesh and Manju were both wonderful, great with our 2 year old boy, great advisors and very freindly. Manju is a wonderful cook, and we recommend using her for a break with the cooking!!

Ali was great in organising transfers and advice before and during the trip, which really was a load off our minds as we didn't need to be concerned about what needed to be organised.

Sunrise and Sunset views both incredible, great range of dvd's, cd's, games to keep us entertained.

We are already talking about bringing our families back to experience Bularangi together!!

We strongly recommend this if you want to come to Fiji and relax, but not get caught up in a touristy location.

All the locals are very friendly, from drivers to the people in town. We went on a half day island trip thanks to a local driver/ boat owner, and were made part of the Fijian family for the week!!

Thanks again to ali, Kamlesh and Manju for making our stay one we will neverforget - we will see you guys again in the near future!!!

We had the best holiday we've ever had staying at Bularangi in Fiji. This private luxury villa is beautifully appointed and the location is perfect for that tropical island experience. The villa is gorgeous, the grounds beautiful, the ambience is luxurious and relaxing. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. If you want to have a relaxing easy holiday then this is the place. There are a couple of resorts close by and easily got to by foot if you want to socialise, eat out etc, and Bularangi clients have full access to their facilities. We were made to feel very welcome where ever we went, that is when we could drag ourselves away from the beautiful Bularangi Villa. The pool is lovely and the reef right out front is home to many exotic sea creatures. We cooked most of our meals ourselves but we did ask for some catering on two nights and the food is delicious! Manju will also give you a cooking lesson on local cooking if you want as well. For us Bularangi provided a much needed rest and recovery from some very stressful months, but it is not just about lazing around, it really is a wonderful gateway for so many activities like diving, snorkeling, kayaking etc. We would go back in a heartbeat!

      Our Secret Paradise

Left on 05/27/2011 for a stay in May 2011

I am reluctant to do this review for a number of reasons but the main one is that after staying at Bularangi we have become more than a bit precious about this divine property and want to keep it for ourselves. Yes, the road to Bularangi (I'm sure there is a song in there) is a bumpy one. But I defy anyone to be unmoved when they wake up the next morning (we arrived when it was dark) and experience that magic vista. All 180 degrees of it. Kamlesh and his sister Manju are kindness personified. They treat you like family. More magic. Kamlesh is always smiling and never rattled. Manju is a wonderful cook. More magic. This property is very very private but the resort is really a short walk away, 4 minutes if that and it removes any panic of being totally isolated. It does not feel 'resorty'. It feels like home. My husband and I are not keen on the whole resort experience. In fact we hate it. But if you did want the convenience of a resort and the privacy of a house than Bularangi is just perfect. We snorkelled. We swam in the ocean and the pool. We walked through the nearby field. Kamlesh was kind enough to accompany my husband on a Leyland Bros.style adventurous drive to the other side of the island. Husband loved it. Manju gave me a quick cooking lesson in Fijian cuisine. I am in the gourmet food business so it was fabulous. And ali, the owner was Brilliant. Everything was organised and easy. The house itself is stunning. Open plan with the bedrooms off to each side. My husband reckoned they built the house for me as the kitchen view is the full panorama of the ocean with the islands erupting out of its surface. Do yourself a favour and go. Or don't and that will just mean more time for us when we return.

We stayed at Bularangi in February 2011 for the second time in the past 15 months. That we all flew in from China and the us to meet - once again - at this fabulous vacation rental and spot on the planet should tell you that we found it irresistable and a must to return to. The house itself - including ammenities, condition, household help, location and - so importantly - the owner's help up front with meat order, airport transfers (2 1/2 hours away from the villa), car rental and every small detail was invaluable and unexpected. The view and location are to die for. The photos on www.bularangi.com are gorgeous but do not do it justice; nothing can but the real deal. This is a five star quality location at a very reasonable cost. I cannot begin to emphasize what a paradisical location and experience is to be found at Bularangi. Welcome to Heaven

Left on 02/17/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We would first like to thank ali for her understanding and consideration for the situation we found ourselves in.
The flooding in Queensland and a serious health issue which had prevented us from leaving for our holiday at our scheduled time. Fortunately, we were finally able to take our long planned holiday and made our way to Fiji. We had surfed the internet and travel advisory’s for some time researching this holiday spot.
Our adventure began with the car rental, and I would seriously recommend at this time to not rent a car and use the local transportation. Currently, the road is unsealed and with the rain, the road became quite an ordeal. We ended up not using the car again till our day of departure. So using a cab would have been a better idea as well as cheaper.
It was hard to believe on our travel to the villa that the place actually existed. We were apprehensive as we travelled along. When we finally saw the sign for the villa and there it was, we were just amazed. The villa was wonderful, and the view outstanding. Bularangi means “Welcome to Heaven” and that’s what we found.
Kamlesh was there to meet us and to give us the general layout of the villa. Wananavu resort was just a short walk up the beaten path. So we settled in and went off for dinner. The resort provided Happy Hour with local entrainment, and a (small)select menu for meals. I recommend the fish and chips!
The staff were very friendly and Ben’s visitor’s tips were helpful.
One could not ask for a better place to rest and relax. We did indulge our self’s by making arrangements to have abby come in and we were pampered with our body massages, body wraps, and body scrubs (under the Burr). Highly recommend the hour body massage. Total relaxation. We also took advantage of having Manjula cook a couple of (typical Fijian) meals for us. We were not eager to take the car out, so we were fortunate to have Manjula and Kamlesh pick up some groceries for us, and one
being some local fresh fish. Kamlesh shows up with a very large local fish! We were just wondering what we would do with it now. Luckily, Kamlesh did clean and fillet the fish for us and later that day we had the best fish dinner off the barbecue that we have ever eaten. Absolutely amazing!
We can only say that this was a wonderful holiday and somewhere we would definitely return to in the future. We would like again to thank ali along with Kamlesh and Manjula for being part of a brilliant holiday. Pictures will always remind us of the wonderful views from the villa.

Bularangi is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun

Left on 01/19/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We found Bularangi Villa on the Vrbo website and received prompt, helpful and reliable replies to our email enquiries from Bularangi (Ali Howie). This level of service continued during our stay. The Villa is situated on the coast in a less developed part of Fiji. It enjoys a great view over Bligh waters to offshore islands. It is spacious and well designed so that it's cool and there was ample room for the members of our group to be separate if desired or to come together at other times. The villa has a lovely pool, and a reef with coral and numerous fish extends from the edge of the property - snorkelling gear provided. There are no nearby beaches as such. Bularangi is next door to a resort (Wananavu) so that the resort's facilities are available to guests - including kayaks and tennis courts. You can establish a tab at the resort and go for drinks and meals (which were good) whenever you wish. The resort also offers trips to nearby villages, fishing and scuba diving. Apart from the resort, which is family orientated and low key, there is no local night life (a plus for us) and not too much to visit in the local area.
Bularangi has a full time gardener/pool person and a lady cleans each weekday for 4 hours. She also offers a service whereby she cooks meals - but we generally preferred to self cater. Meat needs to be sourced in Nadi but good seafood is available locally. The gardener/pool man gave good advice about this.
We were seeking a beautiful and classy home to enjoy a relaxing holiday - time to 'chill' and do some gentle exercise and recuperate after a busy year. Bularangi more than exceeded our hopes.

We are a family with 3 kids aged between 4 months and 6 years. We wanted a holiday where we could do our own thing on our timetable as far as catering and activities go. Bularangi Villa provided this with complete and modern kitchen, large pool, sea and easy access to two resorts nearby. The layout, build quality and maintenance of the villa was superb - this is not your typical pacific island construction. When you visit the neighbouring resorts and mention you are staying at Bularangi Villa, you are enthusiastically welcomed, such is the relationship the owners have. The 2 part time staff add a level of comfort by removing any day to day chores. Booking with ali before we left was a breeze with reliable information and support when booking airport transfers, ordering food and wine and local activities (diving, local taxis, boat trips to adjacent islands, local markets). I was easily able to satisfy my appetite for kite surfing with a range of reasonable sites and an almost gauranteed 18 - 20 knot wind daily.

There were moments of relaxation by the lovely pool as well as lots of time spent on the water, snorkeling in front of the villa, diving, island hopping and fishing for the boys. Bularangi is a fantastic spot with a gorgeous view with everything we needed. The villa was immaculate and very comfortable. Being able to cook our own food was great as well as enjoying Manju's samosas, curries and a lesson in roti making! Left on 07/26/2010 for a stay in July 2010

From the minute we arrived - two hours late and tired we were made feel incredibly welcome and at home at Bularangi Villa. The house, garden and pool were all immaculate and beautifully maintained. We loved the house at first sight- fabulous, spacious layout for parents and 3 active older children. Great pool and gorgeous snorkelling at the back door! We thought of it as the front I have to admit. If we had any questions or concerns Kamlesh answered them happily - always a smile. Manju taught us all how to cook delicious Indian meals. They were both gracious and very unobtrusive about looking after us during our week. When we felt like an excursion the two resorts nearby were fantastically welcoming. We hired a car for only a few days while in Fiji - that wasn't a problem as the local Suncoast Taxi Company took us where we needed to go or we walked. There's as much or as little to do as you like - everything from swimming all day/snorkelling/fishing/lying in a hammock reading/exploring the coastline to toad spotting at night! Bularangi was truly a great place to get away from the cares of the world, breathe deeply and relax completely. We can't wait to go back.

Bularangi villa is an absolutely beautiful villa with all the bells & whistles you could want to make your holiday one to remember. We have been to Fiji quite a few times & have always stayed near Nadi or the coral coast at resorts & after staying in the villa we will always come back to Bularangi. It is away from most tourist attraction but it also within a couple of hrs of everything, you do need to hire a 4 wheel drive as the road to the villa is a little rough.Kamlesh is absolutely fabulous & nothing was to much trouble, one of us got sick while we were there & kamlesh even went to the doctors with her. We went to the Resort next door every afternoon & everyone there were so friendly. We had a marvelous time & we will all be back

      Bularangi - Heaven on Earth

Left on 07/13/2010 for a stay in January 2010

As a part Fijian born, raised and living in Sydney but whose mother is originally from the area in which Bularangi is located in Rakiraki Ra Fiji, I was just speechless as to what ali and Baz have created.
I regularly frequent Fiji to visit family and holiday with my own husband and children and always stay in the local village of Rakiraki with my family. This time as we were staying in Fiji for some 6 weeks, we decided to not only stay at the regular places and with family but to really take some time out as our own family unit. I discovered Bularangi just through a Google web search and instantly fell in love with I saw. True to it's website, Bularangi did not disapoint. The location and the home are truly magnificent but it absolutley goes without saying that Kamlesh and Manju who work as the grounds keeper, cleaner, chef and general go to people are just wonderful.
As small business owners ourselves, we understand the true value of having wonderful, trustworthy staff and Baz and ali are certainly lucky enough to have that and more in these wonderful, wonderful people; Kamlesh and Manju.
Bularangi is the type of place where you can do as little or as much as you want to from swimming in the glorious pool, to snorkeling right out the front, relaxing with a great book, catching the sunset in the afternoon from the bure down on the water, enjoying one of the best home-cooked meals by Manju or just enjoying the company of the people you are with - it's all up to you. One thing that I do know is that Bularangi is unsurpassed in it's beauty.
Well Done to you both Baz and ali. In my humble opinion, you have truly captured the "real Fiji" here at Bularangi and I for one am sure that I will return and sing the praises of yourselves and Bularangi to anyone who will listen!!

If our Honeymoon is any indication, we’re in for marriage

Left on 07/11/2010 for a stay in June 2009

My husband and I spent a week at Bularangi for our honeymoon and could not have asked for more.
The views and setting are beautiful and private.
The staff are very friendly, although quiet and discrete, respecting your privacy.
Once we'd done our grocery shopping in Rakiraki and unpacked, we didn't leave and seriously thought about extending our stay.
The next time we go, we might venture out and do some of the activites the local resort has to offer - or not... :-)
