For starters, the house is a few years old, and of great
design and construction. The lot is very private, with
plenty of wildfife, including a cow moose and calf. We
rent a lot through Morton-Furbish, who run a smooth
operation. We prefer the larger lakes over Loon Lake,
since the swimming and boating are limited here; however,
this house makes up for it. -

Woodbury, NJExtraordinary Home on Loon Lake
Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The Birches on Loon Lake is a new, capacious log cabin style home. It is a meticulously crafted structure with a vaulted ceiling in the livingroom and a wood burning fireplace, four bedrooms, three baths, a family room, and sprawling kitchen/dining area. There is a rear deck the runs the length of the house, and a short jaunt down to a dock on the pristine and beautiful waters of Loon Lake.
If "excellence is in the details" than The Birches is truly excellent. The kitchen is equipped with the gourmet chef in mind. The interior walls, covered in yellow pine paneling, are warm and beautifully crafted (every mitre cut is perfect).
The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. The living room has cozy sofas and a recliner.
There is a family room on the first level, with an additional gas fire place and wide screen television.
What one appreciates beyond the house itself, is the sense of solitude and peacefulness, even though you're only 10 minutes from Rangeley center.
We noted only two improvements that would enhance this house: a queen sized bed in the bedroom on the first floor, and curtains in the master bedroom on the second floor for those who are not early risers.
We have been coming to Rangeley for six years, and this is by far the finest property we have rented. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning there for many years.

Kennebunkport, MEPerfect Weather, Perfect Location
Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in July 2010
This was our first lake vacation with our two daughters, their husbands and our 5 grandchildren. We invited the girls up in two shifts each for a couple of days. It was perfect for kayaking, swimming, floating, story telling, and listening to the loons. The grandchildren are 10, 7, 3, 2 and 8 months. We took the kids to Rangley Lake which is a perfect place for diving, swimming, playing, running. We all had a great time and hope to come back again soon. The kitchen is well equipped and a pleasure as most of our meals were eaten at "home" instead of going out to a local restaurant.
