Good place to fish the lake.

The dock is tight but adequate for two 16 to 18 foot boats with careful tying. Kitchen is in need of a few sharpened knives and a cork screw. Sleeping room on lower level is damp and should be addressed. Dehumidifier is not adequate for the circumstances.
Overall it's a nice place in a great location.
We will definitely use the place in the future. This was our third or fourth stay here, and we've been at five or six other properties in the region, and it beats all the other places close by.
I can imagine its very nice later in the summer.

we have been coming to this lake for 12 years. this is our 2nd year at Steinman. We love it and are hoping to return aain next year. The only things that we thouht the house needed was a little more silverware and a wine opener. Looking forward to next year already

Out of the three rentals we've had thus far, this was the nicest for the family. Stocker is still my favorite for the true Maine Lakehouse. My immediate impression when walking down to the shoreline was the several empty and partially full plastic worm containers on the dock and the shoreline. It was as if kids were there and they took off just when I opened the door to exit the basement. Also, the yellow canoe was in disrepair and had socks in it which was odd. Regardless, the place was great, wide open setting allowed the family the hang out and communicate openly while inside. There wasn't much of a yard but we knew that. The fire pit was a nice touch and was used regulary as was the charcoal grill. I'll go through the stars:
value - the rentals are expensive but that's the way it goes. I'm not rich. This isn't a complaint.
Comfort - the master bed was a queen, could use a king. No big deal.
Cleanliness - the home itself was clean, no issues. The back yard and shoreline needed a walk through. Not sure if the cleaning service deals with that so I'll chalk it up to the previous occupant.
Check-in - easy, show up and get the keys.
Location - not a huge fan of the southern part of the lake but the proximity to the dual use land is an advantage.
Service - if this is the general rental service, it's fine. With any luck we'll have Boyd next year.
My goal is remoteness, and I have to balance my wife's needs with my own goals, with a sane drive with two young kids. I hope the Rangeley lakes don't go the way of Sebago or worse yet Winnepesaukee. Starting to see some large estates going on the lake. Those old cabin are awesome, hate to see them go.

Overall wonderful vacation! The lake was beautiful- lakefront location, long dock, etc was perfect. It got a little chilly, next time we'd like to visit earlier in the season. However, traveling the last week of august did enable us to have Mooselook all to ourselves :) The home was very comfortable, and spacious enough for our 5 grandchildren (ages 4-9), One suggestion, since we can't pick up and relocate the Steinman property closer to town, a fuctional second refrigerator would be a big plus. Overall, our family enjoyed a beautiful week on Mooselook Lake, we'd love to return next summer.

we absolutely loved this vacation. It was great for all kids ranging in ages from 4-20. We never found the hammocks that were advertised and we would have loved an outdoor dining table. We can't wait o be back next year.
