TaumarEverything you need at an affordable price!
Left on 10/03/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I'm almost tempted not to review this, just incase it's booked out for when we need it next!!
Honestly, for such affordable accommodation, it had everything we needed. We booked 3 of the bungalows for a week. It was an ideal location.
Our airport transfer was helpful, and waiting on our arrival. Great start! Therefore we didn't need to find the place, or the key at 1 am. Just walk in and make ourselves at home.
The room we had was clean and spacious and I preferred this open plan room, as opposed to the room with a separate dbl bedroom. The bungalow was equipped with mesh over all windows and sliding door, to keep out... for me not the mozzies, but the mokos (harmless of course). Well equipped kitchen, (not that much cooking took place) microwave, fridge freezer, oven. Large bathroom, but you had to remember to turn the booster on for an hour on overcast days to warm the water. 2 large inbuilt wardrobes, telephone was free to use, washing machine free to use, dining table and chairs, towels and sheets changed every 2nd day. The plantings around the bungalow were very pretty, and from the deck, it was very quiet and private. Great for our group to congregate and have a few drinks without people looking at us. Personally, because we were part way up a hill, and actually neighboured onto locals properties, it felt like we were experiencing the heart of Raro, as we could spy on them with their daily lives, going to school/work/ wherever they went, collect coconuts, play with their animals etc etc. At a resort, we would've been looking at foreigners and wondered where they came from etc. We even got to watch the all Blacks on their tv, ( although the buttons seemed to have minds of their own) the only time we really felt we had to watch tv while here. Actually, the beds we slept on we're the most comfortable we've had, and we slept really well until all the roosters got crowing, which I think I got use to.
Anton was very friendly and helpful, and arrived on our first morning to introduce himself, say hello etc. Him and our very friendly housekeeper made our stay pleasant with there helpful suggestions on things we could do and/or spend money. We finally met Liana, who is based at another property Muri beach club hotel, (who also hire scooters and issue temporary licenses), and she was also very lovely. She set us up (literally) for a memorable evening at Te varanui village.
Everything we needed was within walking distance (even thou we still preferred to scooter, drive, bus) for a bit of fun. Many restaurants were in this area, tourist shops, dairy, and some sightseeing businesses.
The one thing I didn't appreciate was the fact that when I visited family in the next bungalow, depending on the wind, you would catch the smell of the sump when sitting on their deck. As my bungalow was back from theirs, we weren't affected.
They may also consider replacing their taped up shower hoses, as ours did split, but anton came within minutes and replaced the fitting. I do acknowledge not everything is available that easily on the island.
If you went out for the night, it would pay to leave the outside light on, as the steps leading to each bungalow add character, but can be a hazard especially if you've had too much to drink, and its dark lol.
Liana and anton, I'm sure our group really enjoyed your bungalows. If you do make changes, please don't change too much about it, as it does have something special about it. -

Auckland Region, New Zealandhighly recommended and highly accomadating!
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in September 2011
I stayed here on a Hens trip with 3 other girls this place is so well set up with everything you require the kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom is spacious with a detachable showerhead with great water pressure.. we had our own very private balcony with great views. yet it was only a few minutes walk from the beach. Liana and anton were so accomodating and really went out of their way to make sure we had the best time possible setting us up with activities, sorting out scooter hire and licences for us plus even letting letting us use the ammenities at the local resort... i would highly recommend this place to anyone! we had a blast :)

We stayed at the Muri Lagoon View Bungalows for over 10 nights and it was brilliant. the hosts anton and Liana were very accomodating and happy to help out with any request. The bungalow was cleaned daily and the amenities were excellent. Big bathroom and the kitchen was up to speed with all you could need. The view off the balcony is beautiful. The place is quiet and secluded off the main road and at night is so very peaceful aside from the chooks/roosters around the island.
No need to book anywhere else as you've got Muri Beach and basically all of Raro at your fingertips when you stay at the Muri Lagoon View Bunglaows. Well worth it and highly recommend it, we will definetly be heading back. -

If you are expecting 5 star accomadation, then book something for $500 a night on the beach, if however you want somewhere you can walk to the beach and that is clean here's your place.
I didn't get round to hiring a moped as the bus stop is at the bottom of the drive with buses passing by at about 10 past and quater past depending on the direction.
In the photo's the sea does look a fair distance away and the website states its a short stroll away. I always take these sort of statements with a pinc of salt, but it really was.
I was in the Cooks for a wedding at Te Manava with most of the guests staying at the Paciffic Resort, I'm not a fast walker but the Te Manava was a 30 min stroll and the Paciffic Resort only about 15 mins away
