AucklandPerfect spot for couples to relax in Raro.

We've made about 20 trips to Rarotonga, and we've stayed at the Nautilus the last two times - and we will do so again. It's very private, clean, comfortable - and island stylish.
Excellent value for money.
There's a very well equipped kitchen, a barbeque and a huge covered deck looking at the sea, which is shaded from the hot afternoon sun. Perfect for lazy drinks or entertaining.
It's also extremely spacious. The apartment is half of what was originally a four bedroom house. Large bedroom, even larger living area. There are two cute units at the back, but with the sound of the sea you are completely unaware of anyone else in the building. The house can be opened up for larger groups.
The shoreline is rocky, but it's just five minutes to Muri and the best swimming beach on the island. Rent a car or scooter, or flag down the bus at the gate.
Eat in Muri at Rickshaw, Sails, Pacific Resort, or Neil's for coffee in the morning. And it's only ten minutes to avarua for the Tamarind or Trader Jack's. Or just lie on the deck with a good book.

Waking up in this island paradise is all the better for staying in a house with all the amenities. A quick trip to the kitchen to make the coffee and then you can stroll out the garden to set up oceanside and start the day taking in the splendor! Loved the house, the location, and the extra assistance that Sue and family give in orienting visitors on the phone or in the notice books in the home.
We stayed 2 weeks and came back for 2 more nights after a trip to the outer islands. I highly recommend Heron's Reef to travellers. Not expensive and very comfortable - just right for us. -

My group of 7 loved this quiet, clean beach house. The beach is perfect for shell-collecting, and the swaying palms and warm waves are relaxing. The house is clean and spacious, and the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location, midway between town and Muri, is perfect.
Thank you Sue for helping to make our experience an unforgettable one. -

Was very impressed with the lovely home of Heron's Reef Beach House. Bed was very comfortable and enjoyed the sound of the ocean. The garden is very very nice. I only wish there was a sandy beach. Sue was great and answered my every need. The property was wonderful.

Amazing from start to finish. Sue was very prompt and friendly with her communications so this helped enormously when trying to choose a place to tie in with flight dates and times. We already had arranged our car hire to be at the airport and we had clear and concise directions to the property that were left with the car. When we arrived at the 'The Nautilus' at Herons Reef we were not sure we were in the right place, as we were simply amazed at the accommodation. Herons Reef has 3 units, a studio, a 1 bedroom and the Nautilus which is 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms, kitchen , dining and lounge with huge storage area and absolutely beach front...what a wonderful welcome! The units have just been renovated and are tastefully decorated ...even an ipod docking station. The property is set in a garden with coconut trees and is a few steps to the beach which is slightly rocky (coral) and not really suitable for swimming, however simply wonderful to walk out to the reef at low tide and attempt to catch a fish, and you are more than likely to have the beach to yourselves. On our first evening Sue and Robbie came to the property and invited us and another couple who were staying in the studio for a barbecue of tuna sashimi style and fresh wahoo...how lucky were we! Superb hosts.
The Nautilus has a deck that stretches the full length of the property with comfy chairs, sun loungers and dining table to while away the hours which we did very happily with the ocean crashing on the reef in front of us...Awesome, for the first few days we found it difficult to leave.
Close to Muri beach (about 10 min drive)
You really must stay here too!
