Villa Diana is in the pedestrian precinct area of Ravello , 400 meters ( 440 yards ) from the main square. It is next to one of the area’s most important tourist attractions, Villa Cimbrone , which is famous for its wonderful gardens and its spectacular terrace that juts out over the sea.
The view from Villa Diana is spellbinding: the villa juts out over a valley and from the terraces you have a never-ending panorama of the narrow Valle del Dragone, which ends at the sea, and a green arena formed by the slopes of Monti Lattari, on whose peaks cling a few small, old villages. The air is clean and clear. The fascinating tranquility of t...he surroundings invite you to relax.
Vineyards surround the house, and it is these very grapes that are used to produce the famous wines of Ravello. There is a nature path next to the Villa’s gate, which allows you to reach Amalfi on foot, starting from a point high up in the hills, suspended between the sky and the sea where Ravello is situated. This is a walk not to be missed: at every step brief glimpses of breathtaking views open up in front of your eyes and these will become unforgettable memories that will stay in your heart after your holiday has ended.
A car is not necessary for your stay at Villa Diana. However, there is a paying car park 400 meters (440 yards ) away. There are restaurants and shops at 200 meters (220 yards) away from the house. Also at 400 meters (440 yards) away there is a bus stop for the bus that takes you from Ravello to Amalfi and other towns on the Amalfi Coast . From Amalfi you can catch a ferry to Positano , Capri , Sorrento and Salerno ; you can also easily reach the famous archeological sites at Pompei and Paestum .
Villa Diana has two apartments available for holidays, A and B. These can be left as separate apartments or they can be connected if required. They are part of a big, old country house that has been restored. It has thick stone walls and vaulted ceilings. This old way of building houses with the locally found stone keeps Villa Diana cool during the summer in an ecological way.
Villa Diana A is an apartment suitable for five people, of approx.100 square meters (1,100 square feet) with a garden, patio, and terrace. Every room has a splendid view over the green hills that surround Ravello and that plunge steeply to the sea. There are two bedrooms, two toilets, a sitting room, a dining area and a kitchen.
The rooms are on three floors. The ground floor has a nice patio from where you can enter into the house and which also leads you down into the garden. Wide arches not only offer shelter from the sun but also frame the enchanting panorama and enclose the patio. The patio is furnished with a table and sun loungers, so it can be used as an open-air dining area. From the patio you enter into the inside dining area and the kitchen. The kitchen is comfortable and is equipped with a cooker, an oven and a fridge/freezer. There is also a toilet with a shower.
A stairway leads to the upper floor, where there is a spacious sitting room with a bed settee and a bedroom with two single beds, one of which pulls out. From the sitting room you enter out onto a splendid terrace, shaded by a pergola, from where you can enjoy an extensive panorama. Here, there is also garden furniture for your relaxation.
A spiral staircase takes you up from the sitting room to the double bedroom. The room has a vaulted ceiling, so the walls are quite low and the room is lit up by a window that looks out onto greenery. Beside the room there is a toilet and shower.
All the rooms have valley views. The house is kept cool in summer in a natural way. The furnishings are pleasing and welcoming, and are made up of bamboo furniture and a small collection of craft items.
The small garden is rustic, with flowerbeds that grow not just flowers, but also basil, celery and vegetables. A lemon pergola shades a floored area and beside the pergola there is a barbecue and a brick, wood-burning, oven.
