Villa Giannino is a graceful villa built upon a terracing almost at the top of the rocky spur on which the town of Ravello stretches, sheer above the sea. From all its observation points you will be able to enjoy the amazing view of the Amalfi Coast and of the sea – that very same view that has made Ravello famous all over the world as the town “suspended between the sky and the sea”.

It is the view that fascinated composers and poets, and that made Richard Wagner fall in love with this place, and from which he took inspiration to write the everlasting music of the Parsifal.

It is the view that, along with the historical bea...uty and the esteemed cultural and musical activities, has attracted and attracts in this place personalities such as Greta Garbo, Jacqueline Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and so many others.

Staying at Villa Giannino you will have the privilege to stand in front of so much beauty at any moment of your vacation: from the morning when you wake up and the sun rises behind the profile of the Lattari mountains and illuminates the sea, to the evening, when the lights of the stars go on and the moon glitters upon the sea.

You will arrive to Villa Giannino descending two flights of stairs (61 steps).

The building is on one floor, and it is placet in the middle of a long and narrow terracing paved with terracotta tiles, and shaded by a tall citron tree and by olives trees that grow in flower beds.

It is divided into two small apartments, A and B, one that sleeps five and the other that sleeps four people. Each of the apartments has a panoramic private terrace that extends in front of all of the rooms, and it has access to a large shared patio of 50 square meters (approximately 540 square feet) and to the terrace with trees of 150 square meters (approximately 1615 square feet).

The patio is equipped with garden furniture. On the terrace with trees, two large circular benches invite you to sit and relax outdoor. Your sight will go over the uninterrupted view in front of you: from the slopes of the Lattari mountains (in front of you), to the narrow valley where the village of Minori stretches (below you), to the inlets of the coast, up to Capo D’Orso (Bear Cape), and to a wide horizon of sea. Here you will also find a barbecue.

The terrace and the external walls of the villa are decorated with majolica pictures and bas-reliefs, made in the sixties by an excellent local maestro, whose name is, indeed, Giannino.

The villa is in the center of Ravello, on the boundary of the pedestrian precinct, approximately 200 meters (220 yards) from the main square (Piazza Duomo), where you will find shops and cafes with outdoor tables. Bars and restaurants are at 30 meters (yards) from Villa Giannino, and a paid parking lot is at 40 meters.

The terrace where Villa Giannino is built is not far from the famous gardens of Villa Rufolo , the historical villa where every summer the International Music Festival of Ravello is held.

The entrance to Villa Rufolo is approximately 200 meters (220 yards), so it will be easy to take part to the night performances without any transportation problem. As a matter of fact, during the summer the nicest concerts and happenings in Ravello are held by night, outdoor, in the gardens suspended between the sky and the sea of its famous villas, in front of the charming night view of the sea. Don’t miss the chance to attend them: the beautiful music and the spell-binding view melt together as an hymn to the harmony and to the beauty of the universe, and you will cherish the memory forever in your heart.

To stay at Villa Giannino you will not need a car, as the stop for the buses that go to Naples and to the other villages of the Amalfi Coast is just 100 meters (110 yards) from the villa.

The closest beach is at 5 km (3 miles), and can be reached by bus. From Ravello you will be able to walk along footpaths that will take you from the heights of the village (350 meters/1150 feet above the sea level) to the sea in 30 minutes.

You can’t miss the walk among the colors and the perfumes of the Mediterranean scrub that you, if you are in good shape: landscapes of amazing beauty will appear in front of your eyes all the way along.

Apartment A

Apartment A at Villa Giannino is an apartment that sleeps five persons, of approximately 80 square meters (860 square feet), with a private terrace with a view of the sea.

It is airy and luminous, and it is tiled with splendid hand-painted Vietri majolica tiles.

It has one bedroom with a double bed, a small bedroom with a single bed, a bathroom with a bath tub with screen, a kitchen, a living room with table, chairs, television and a divan bed for two additional sleeping places. The bedroom with the double bed (only the bedroom)is equipped with air conditioning, while the bedroom with a single bed has a fan.

All the rooms have a view of the sea. The private terrace, which stretches along the front of the apartment, can be entered from the living room and from the kitchen. This terrace is equipped with garden furniture, and it will be a perfect place for your “al fresco” meals", with the view of the sea, of the sky and of the incomparable profile of the Amalfi Coast in front of you.

The kitchen is equipped with four-burner cooker, oven, refrigerator with freezer, washing machine and table with chairs.

The furnishing is modern, pleasant and new. The apartment is equipped with central heating in all the rooms.

As a guest of Apartment A you will be able to access the large patio, equipped with garden furniture, and the garden with trees, which are shared with guests of Apartment B.

  This villa does not have adequate heating to be rented in the winter months. It should not be on the list of available rentals for those months. In addition, either the agent or the owner, or both, did not think ahead regarding our rental. When we arrived at the property, the inside temperature was the same as the outside temperature (4 degrees). During the first two days of our stay, we could not make it warmer than 12 degrees inside. The only reason we made it warmer later in the week was that we found a hotel that was willing to let us borrow a space heater. The owner and manager should be ashamed at their shoddy treatment of us.

  In all truthfulness, I must agree that, in the dire weather conditions suffered in Europe in February 2012 (one of the coldest waves ever suffered, with Italy paralyzed by the cold and a situation so extreme to cause the death of 57 people in a modern, industrialized, country such as Italy, as well as the grounding of planes and the halting of trains), the heating provided at Villa Giannino, planned and built for much milder temperatures, was not sufficient. When the owner accepted the booking, 9 months before, she could not have known, of course, as everybody was caught by surprise by this terrible situation. First of all, I would like to forward again the owner's apologies, to which I would like to add my own.
  
  The unlivable condition was immediately acknowledged by our staff when it was reported to us, two days after check-in. Since the owner was not able to provide the required degree of comfort, we offered, at the guest discretion, a free upgrade to an apartment with a more powerful heating system or a refund. Both alternatives were declined as the guest preferred to stay at the apartment and use the borrowed space heater.
  
  Given the decision to stay at the apartment, we thought it would have been a nice gesture to arrange for all local costs to be forfeited, which we did even if not requested. It seemed a sensible way to show our sincere contrition, since any other offer for assistance had been declined.
  
  I am grateful for this opportunity to publicly extend, once more, our apologies, for this exceptional situation where no solution was deemed to be satisfactory. We all pray that such an extreme cold weather will not happen ever again.

  This was one of the most beautiful locations we've ever stayed in. The
  apartment is relatively basic but the terrace is huge and offers probably the
  best views I've ever had in any accommodation. It is also placed in an excellent
  location a 5 minute walk from the central square of Ravello, which is a
  beautiful and magical little town. I can't recommend this holiday highly
  enough. You will be surrounded by beautiful mountains, the sea, and a
  spectacular coastline wherever you go. The kids loved playing on the terrace,
  they also loved Ravello square where they played football with some local
  children. We spent a lot of time sitting on the terrace, just soaking in the view
  and enjoying the peace. This is a very special place, also run efficiently and we
  were well looked after. I would urge you to try it.

  There were 5 of us adults ageing from 68 to 36 staying here for 1 week and we loved it.
  We got up every morning and ate our breakfast on the amazingly large terrace with a million dollar view. Some days we sunbathed for a while, then off we would walk down to Amalfi, A must do takes about
  45 minutes meandering down.
  The apartment was even better than we expected we were very happy with it.
  It was close to everything in Revello, the bus from Amalfi stops only a few metres from the apartment very convenient as you down want to walk
  up from Amalfi, it ony costs 1Euro each way and goes every half hour.
  We all would stay here again.
  Very happy memories.

  Wilma was there shortly after our arrival. The furnishings were a little tired but adequate; however, the view made up for any of the short comings of the furnishings. The location for access to Ravello, bus service to Amalfi, and to the concerts at Villa Rufalo could not have been better. Also, its location made for a great base for day trips to Naples, Paestum, Pompii, etc, and the Amafi coast. Free parking was available down the street from the apartment. The major drawback for those not physically fit would be the steps to the apartment. There were some great hiking trails from Ravello to Amalfi (only went down, would not want to hike from Amalfi to Ravello) Would definitely rent again.
