Trois-RivieresA dream vacation at Il Monaco
Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Il Monaco is well situated on the coast road with beautiful views of the sea and coast from every room. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable. We arranged for Mr. Franco to pick us up at the Salerno train station and he was there when we arrived. After taking us to Il Monaco he offered to take us to a supermarket in Maori to stock up. This was a great help to us. This was the third leg of our trip to Italy and intended for rest and relaxation. Il Monaco served us well. We also had easy access to the other towns on the amalfi coast as well as a day trip to Pompeii..I would go back again any time!

SingaporeAmazingly wonderful stay in a gorgeous spot
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Il Monaco is a superb house, in perfect condition, with amazing views and a most comfortable and homely feel, in a stunning location. The house was super-well equipped, with a great kitchen, in which we enjoyed preparing meals with awesome local produces over a splendid view of the bay. Not a single thing to complain about at all.
The outdoor space is perfect, and the deck by the sea out is of this world. The location near Minori is fantastic as well to go grocery shopping for local vegetables and fish, cold cuts...
All in all, a perfect stay in a perfect spot. We will most surely come back to enjoy the Costiera!

We stayed at the villa for a week. We were stunned by the incredible views and gorgeous decor - also the villa was spotless when we arrived. We couldn't ask for more - perfect location a ten minute walk to minori which is a quaint little town with lovely cafes restaurants and beach. We also enjoyed the platform to the sea for sunbathing and swimming. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend. Many thanks !

EdinburghA great relaxing week in a beautiful villa
Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We had a fantastic week on the amalfi coast. Il Monaco is a perfect base. Everything about it was lovely from the cool fresh bedrooms to the stunning views! Having the swimming platform was also great.
We would like to say a big thank you to Franco who looks after the property for anna for all his help as it took away any stress for us.
Franco picked us up from the airport and drove us to Minori via the beautiful scenic coast road.
We had 2 wonderful trips to Capri by speed boat and Pompeii by air conditioned bus. He also helped us organise these trips with his local knowledge. The boat even picked us up from the swimming platform.
The town of Minori was lovely with fantastic restaurants and cafes. It has a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We walked to Ravello via the steps along a bit from the villa which was amazing and took about 1 hour. The views from there are stunning. We would love to come back maybe at cooler time to do some more exploring.
On the return journey to the airport Franco took us a different which takes a little longer via the mountains which open up to reveal the Bay of Naples which was breathtaking.

Il Monaco is a beautiully maintaned Villa. Very comfortable, beautiful views, excellent location to the very charming town of Minori. Spacious bedrooms, with very quiet air conditioner units and good sized, well stocked kitchen. I travelled with my husband, 2 sons, and daughter-in-law and we all loved our stay. I am most grateful to owner anna for all her help with this trip. She was even kind enough to secure our train tickets for me when I had difficulty online. And she helped me secure driver arrangements with Mr. Franco who was also very helpful and welcoming. I would strongly recommend this Villa. There are beautiful terraces to choose to relax and sunbathe. There are many steps down to the beautiful deck -the Mediterranean is beautiful and warm - but the hike up and down is very much worth the trip. I also appreciated having the laundry out on the lower deck. Very convenient. We loved Il Monaco, the people, Minori, Ravello. We hope to return.

New York, NYDream Honeymoon
Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We came here for the 2nd half of our honeymoon (after Tuscany) - what a place! It would be incredibly difficult to beat the views and outdoor space. From the terraces covered in lemon groves to the path to the sea and swimming deck, it has it all. The villa was immaculate and well outfitted with everything we needed. We had never heard of Minori before coming, and were really happy with the town. There was much more going on than we'd imagined, including 5-10 good restaurants (be sure to visit antonio at Bar of the Midnight Sun, Osteria Il Poiinte was another favorite), some shops, grocery store, etc. Just be sure to check the hours of the grocery store. We got stuck a few days without groceries because we went first on a Sunday (Closed) and then again after it had closed or during the long lunch break. It was an easy walk to town for dinner, but you have to be careful walking as the roads have no shoulder and cars come around the corner fast. On that note, we brought our car, and were happy to have the free parking right at the villa, but left it for the entire week. Driving on the amalfi coast is a nail-biting experience at best! We opted for the bus when we wanted to go anywhere other than Minori. Minori is in a great location for visiting other towns. We hiked the steps to Ravello one day, took a bus to Positano another day, and took a bus to amalfi then ferry to Capri another day. The only issue we had was internet - we paid in advance to use the wifi and brought only our ipad and iphones, only to get an email when we were already on our way that the wifi only worked with laptops. Anna had said she'd maybe leave a laptop for us to use, but there wasn't one. I sent an email to anna but still haven't gotten refunded despite not being able to use the internet. All in all though, that was a small problem compared to how much we loved the villa and its grounds and location. We hope to come back someday with a family or a bunch of friends!

Washington, DCSimply Stunning!
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed at Il Monaco after 4 nights at La Clarissa, Anna's other property just down the road. Let me tell you, this place was breathtaking! It was just two of us, so far more room than we could ever need (or use!), but we felt like kids in a magic castle. The beautiful frescos and gorgeous antiques in the master bedroom helped! The giant country kitchen was a great place to make dinner, and the series of verandas/terraces were the spot to enjoy the stunning views. The lemon tree may have been my favorite part, although spending time with a glass of wine down on the dock was a close second. We loved having the run of the place, but this would also be an ideal spot for three couples, as the bedrooms each offered a great deal of privacy and the common space was more than enough room to share. I am already trying to round up friends to go back!!
The village of Minori was amazing ... we liked it a million times more than Ravello. Ravello was great, but for us Minori felt so much more authentic - people were so incredibly friendly (by week's end, we'd made friends with several folks!) and the restaurants/food were amazing. Anna and Oscar could not have been better, either - they are charming and generous and so kind. They had great restaurant recommendations too!
I relied almost exclusively on Trip advisor and Flip Key to plan this vacation and these reviews helped a ton ... trust me when I tell you, it would be impossible not to fall in love with this place (and with anna for bringing it to all of us!) go!! -

Nerang Qld.Spectacular
Left on 02/20/2012 for a stay in January 2012
With the directions of anna & Oscar we had no trouble in locating this villa perched on the side of the spectacular amalfi coastline. Unusual to find large off street secure parking, just have to watch for traffic on exiting. Entrance door right on roadway as with many there so caution required on stepping out. This villa is everything and more from the prev. reviews.
Spacious rooms all with beautiful coastal views. Although it was winter, breakfast and lunch on the terrace was a treat. Kitchen is well equiped. Lemons growing on the terraces down to the sea. The harbour sundeck was beautiful but the water a little too cold to swim, would be absolutely fantastic in summer. We had the top floor bedroom - absolutely beautiful, the amalfi bus's do stop around midnight so no hornblowing after that. We had some doorknockers passing very early on New Years day in raspy voices wishing 'bon anno' :). Minori is very pretty little village that has plenty of variety,
we took many day trips along this beautiful amalfi coastline, from Il Monaco as it is so very central to everything. -

Charlotte, NCThe perfect Mediterranean holiday.
Left on 01/29/2012 for a stay in May 2011
Il Monaco is a treasure. Our family of seven certainly feels as if we "hit the jackpot" in choosing this lovely renovated home overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The serene blue color used throughout the interior seamlessly blends with the sea, which can be seen through tall casement windows frm ever room, except the bathrooms. (I prefer the outdoor terrace shower, which has a spectacular view!) This home is meticulously maintained and has a warm atmosphere without being cluttered.
Across the entire length of the back of the home is a double terrace, which has its own arbor supporting the famous amalfi lemon trees. There is also a "secret garden" gate leading to a pathway along the terraces down to a private concrete platform, a fun spot for swimming.
We had a car and could easily explore the other coastal towns; however, there is a bus stop just steps away.
Upon meeting the owners, Anna and her husband Oscar, I can see that their home is a reflection of their graciousness. They are very professional to work with, yet personable, so that you are made to feel like welcomed guests in their home.
This was our first visit to the amalfi Coast and we certainly hope to return; we would definitely stay in Il Monaco.

Atlanta, USAUnbelievable location
Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We had a great stay at Il Monaco. The property is located a short walk from Minori and about a 45 minute walk (up ancient stairs) to Ravello. The location is also very close to a Sita bus stop that connects the amalfi coast.
The property has a beatiful master bedroom with restored vintage murals and a great view of the sea. The best part of the property is the porch with an incredible view of the sea, Minori and Maiori. There is also a sundeck below the porch and a sunroom next to the master bedroom. The path to the sea is very nice and there is a shared private sea access with lots of room to sunbathe right next to the water.
We came to Il Monaco on our honeymoon and were not disapointed. Anna, the property owner, was very accomodating and easy to work with. We would recommend this property to anyone! -

Wellington, New ZealandAn authentic amalfi coast experience
Left on 10/21/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Great situation with good views to the east which did mean no afternoon sun. A few minor problems with fittings that need some attention but otherwise well set up. I call this an authentic amalfi experience because the narrow roads do create noise - busses hooting at each bend, no pathways and very narrow roads... that's part of the character of the place. A bit of a challenge to begin with but adults soon get used to it. Not so sure about coping with small kids. Franco was very helpful, as were the locals. Overall we had a great stay. Next doors cats are
keen to keep you company although we didn't find them a nuisance. -

ll Monaco was the perfect place to enjoy a week on the amalfi Coast with 6 friends. It is a pleasant walk into Minori, the least touristy of the towns. We enjoyed going to all the little shops to get our supplies each day. The villa has eveything you need including airconditioned bedrooms, comfortable beds, bbq etc. Deatils such as beach towels were much appreciated. The views are amazing.

Dana Point, CAOverall - Very Nice Stay at a Beautiful Villa
Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The villa was as expected, beautiful place to call home for a few days. We walked into the town of Minori for lunch and groceries, had convenient parking for our rental, beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well supplied. Having coffee and a lot of the cooking basics already supplied was really appreciated! The directions anna supplied us from Rome-FCO airport to the villa were perfect! Thank goodness!!
The bedroom upstairs was really beautiful but really noisy with the street traffic just a front door away. The traffic & noise was a problem on the weekend but not bad during the week. (Suggest using the 2 bedrooms downstairs first if possible) The heater was not working at the time (which was okay since the whether was mild), nor the TV. Franco was prompt in coming over to try and fix both. Also, beware the steps just inside the front door! As soon as we walked in my sister took a dive!
Overall, the villa was very nice, Franco was prompt with our requests and even drove us to the dock one morning to catch our boat ride. The patio overlooks a stunning view and having beach/ocean access was great. We used the BBQ to cook dinner one night and it was nice that all the laundry supplies and basics were provided. The prices are very reasonable and the villa can accomodate a whole family. I would consider staying there again. -

Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We enjoyed our stay very much, the apartment is in a great spot, especially if you have a scooter, which is a must on the amalfi Coast. We rode up the Mountain each day to amazing Ravello, and discovered the nearby villages. The swimming platform at the bottom of the garden is awesome. Jump straight into the Med. Beautifully clean linen and apartment. Franko, who checked us in, is a local who will help you with anything you may need. He is great. The bedroom at the top is on the road, it has alot of traffic noise, in the end we just laughed about the tooting and the ambulance sirens, hey we are on holidays, its all okay... The locals are lovely and you must try the Hand made Pasta from the speciality shop. Just ask in town. They are amazing made fresh daily. Thankyou

We stayed in Il Monaco for 10 days in the end of March and could not have chosen a better place. We were greeted by Oscar who was so kind giving us good local advice on restaurants, grocery and provision shops and other useful information. The villa is very roomy, clean, sunny, designed tastefully and well-equipped. There are 3 terraces with tiny front lemon garden and fantastic views to the sea and amalfi Coast. We dream of return!

Auckland, New ZealandBrilliant place close to real Italian town
Left on 10/18/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We stayed at Monaco with our 7 month old baby and had a great time. We had other frriends stay with an 18 month baby as well. The house is baby friendly, with good rails in the balconies and the views are amazing. The house gets great morning sun, before it gets too hot and breakfast on the balcony off the kitchen was great.
Minori is a great little town. Very traditional. Not very touristy, the beach is really nice and the locals very friendly - our baby was very spolit!! Good ferry connections to amalfi, Capri etc. Close to Ravello which is amazing.
Anna (owner) and Franco (house manager) were both very helpful and were available anytime.
2 slight negatives (1) the house is very close to the main road and there is quite a lot of road noise - especially from the famous amalfi coast buses. The top bedroom closest to the road is quite noisey - rest of the house was much better. If you are a light sleeper, some earplugs would be a good idea. (2) There is no internet access in the house. I had some work to check on while away and this caused a few issues. After a few days hunting, we found a hotel (Hotel Villa Romana) in Monori which has internet access 5 euro per hour.
Overall, we stayed for 2 weeks so got to know the area very well, and would recommend staying here.Response from Amalfi Dreams srl - 10/22/2010
Owner
Hi Tom,
I thank you and appreciate your great review of your stay at Il Monaco.
I'm sorry for your difficulties with the lack of internet at the villa.
What I can say? If I knew I could have helped you providing an Internet Key which, plugged in your computer is directly connected on the UMTS network.
About the road noise in the upper room, unfortunately this is a "caracteristic "of so many villas on the Amalfi Coast.
In order to try to fix the issue, may I ask you if the problem is still there with the window closed?
Ciao

Auckland, New ZealandTotally gorgeous villa in perfect location
Left on 09/03/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Il Monaco is stunning, it's been decorated beautifully and is set up perfectly for your amalfi vacation. The rooms are a really good size and the linen and towels are all really nice. Lovely deck out the front and your own jetty for swimming off. The views are incredible and it really is on the coast. We hired a boat that met us at the jetty and meandered along the coast for swims and visited Positano. Minori is a beautiful wee town and it is literally 5-10 minutes walk from the villa. We much preferred Minori to Positano so were really glad we stayed here. There is a wonderful cafe in the town and fabulous restaurants too.
Our only regret with Il Monaco was that we didn't have it for longer. Absolutely stunning.
We did have a couple of issues with hot water and appliances not working but am sure this has been sorted. Oscar and ana are lovely and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again, dreaming about it already!
ps: it's quite tricky to find so get directions from Oscar! -

Roma, ItalyIl Monaco - Wonderful Villa
Left on 08/24/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Everything was great with the house and the whole holiday.
At the check-in the house was clean and all towels and blankets were available. Plus, the landlord gave us a list of places to go and visit, and some suggested places for eating.
The house is simply great. 5 stars to the painted room, where I slept in.
All the rooms (included the kitchen) faces the sea and the coast; the terrace is a lovely place to have breakfast and dinner (great electric barbecue is available).
All the furnitures and devices in the house are new: dishwasher, fridge, washing machine.
You really feel like a VIP when going to the private platform right on the coast: amazing.
The house is close to Minori town centre (5 mins walk) and you can easily reach amalfi, Ravello, Maiori, Positano using Sita buses.
You can also have a nice trip to Capri, leaving from Minori.
Such an accommodation gave a plus to a wonderful stay on the amalfi Coast. It is so hard to find such a great accommodation for such a great value. The only thing I didn't like is that it lasted only one week. -

Im hesitant in reccomending this villa, as i want this place to remain my secret.
However my good side tells me its only fair to share our experience.
The villa is well located, extremely clean and has everything you could wish for.
The views from the terrace were incredible and we just found ourselves saying nothing to each other for hours and just staring at the view.
We hired a boat which picked us up from the sundeck and the lemon tress in the garden made great marinade for our Bbq's on the terrace.
We showered in the open as it was private and had a better view than the bathroom walls (the outside shower has warm water).
Anna (the owner of the Villa) and her family are delightful and always happy to help, they made our trip very special.. we cant wait to return.
It is a short walk to the town of minori where you can but fresh produce, the evenings are lovely in the town with jazz music playing and some kind of orchestra on, we were lucky to be there when there was a only festival and saw the fireworks on the sea.
