Phoenix, AZAwesome villa!
Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Before renting this villa I researched a lot of places. I wanted to stay in a small town without so many tourists and really see the amalfi Coast and the people who live there. Everything about this villa is exactly as described. The patio and view are amazing and the price is very reasonable for everything you get. The very best thing of all is the service provided by Mr. Franco. He arranged a boat trip to Capri and a bus tour to Pompeii. He picked us up and took us back home so we didn't need a car at all. He also picked us up and the Salerno train statio9n and took us back when it was time for us to leave. I highly recommend you asking Mr. Franco to help you with your local tours when you arrive. We would definitely stay in this villa again when we return to the amalfi Coast.

If you want to experience the amalfi coast your own way, this is the place to be!
My wife and I took my Mother for her 60th Birthday and we all had an amazing time here. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped. Then there is the terrace! We're still dreaming about that view! We discovered on day two that the shower behind the pizza oven was heated. Day three, four and five started with warm showers on the terrace looking out over the Tyrrhhenian Sea. Amazing.
Franco is warm and welcoming and helped us with any problems. We also bumped into anna who is lovely and very helpful. -

Left on 10/08/2012 for a stay in September 2012
La Clarissa may be very small, and somewhat unappealing from the road...but it is very well appointed, and has the most amazing terrace and looks directly onto the most beautiful sea views. We spent loads of time just chilling and gazing out to sea, either in full sun (the terrace shower was a God-Send!) or under the awning or the shaded area at the end of the terrace...heavenly!
Minori is a lovely little town (Giardiniello restaurant highly recommended) but ferries don't operate in September so you'll need to brave the traffic if you want to go further afield. Amalfi (our favourite place) is only 10 mins drive, Positano another 30 mins or so. The coast road whilst a challenge is well worth the drive.
Would highly recommend La Clarissa!

LondonWonderful romantic honeymoon spot
Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed for a week at La Clarissa during our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Minori was within easy walking distance and was a friendly little town. There was a nice walk (steep but shady, with plenty of water stops) up to Ravello from very nearby.
The villa had everything we needed and the most glorious view. The terrace was large with plenty of sun/shade depending on what you wanted and was not very overlooked, despite the proximity of the road.
The road is nearby, so you do hear some cars, but it's not hugely busy and the traffic didn't seem to continue through the night, so didn't bother us. In fact, the location was very convenient and it was nice to be slightly higher than the town.
Check in and assisstance from anna couldn't have been easier and the reserved parking space certainly made things easier (although bring a small car!). We'd love to go back sometime and re-live our honeymoon. -

Left on 06/29/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The villa itself was not much to look at from the narrow and winding Strada amalfitana, that breathtakingly nerve-racking coastal road with the iconic views.
Inside, however, the two-storied villa did not disappoint as it was scrupulously clean and well appointed. The air-conditioned upstairs bedroom, with lots of closet space, a comfortable bed and ensuite, had it's own balcony with sweeping views.
A spiral staircase led down to the living quarters where we found a spacious living room (with TV), a fully functional kitchen as well a bathroom with shower and washing machine.
The terrazzo was, of course, the centerpiece with spectacular views of the undulating coastline and villas precariously perched on the cliffs apparently defying gravity!
The terrazzo, fully furnished with chaises lounges, dining table, a great little B.B.Q. and its own outdoor shower nestled under vines and lemon trees, became the center of our world.
On a personal note, while there, I experienced a minor medical problem. Both Franco, uber concierge and factotum, and owner Mr. Oscar Gambardella were, without fail, solicitous and uncompromising in their efforts to help. Mr. Gambardella actually drove us to the local hospital and personally saw to it that I was well treated.
We recommend La Clarissa without hesitation!

Washington, DCAbsolute Perfection!
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012
I'm not even sure where to begin ... our recent stay at La Clarissa was, by far, the best vacation ever! The villa itself is very European; charming, quaint and romantic ... the perfect size for two people, with all the amenities you'd need. But the terrace is what will knock your socks off ... it's huge and the views are literally breathtaking; simply gorgeous. We loved spending time basking in the sun, reading books, eating breakfast, just taking it all in. Although you will not want to leave, the quick walk into Minori was an adventure - and the town is adorable. People were so friendly, great restaurants (our favorite was Il Pontile - recommended by anna and Oscar!), and we loved that it was not overrun with american tourists (we are americans, so nothing against american tourists, but we really got a flavor for Italian coastal living, and by the end of our week stay we were in love with Minori). And anna and Oscar (and their adorable daughter) could not have been nicer - from the moment they picked us up from the bus, we felt welcomed and like old friends.
We're already talking about when we can come back and who we can convince to go! Trust the reviews on here, you will love this place! -

Left on 06/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012
This property certainly lives up to its reviews. It is within 5 minutes walk of Minori which was without doubt our favourite town on the amalfi coast due to the friendliness of the people and the relative dearth of tourists!! The cottage is beautifully positioned above the water with a sensational deck with table and chairs, deck chairs and a pizza oven. If the weather is good you won't want to be anywhere else! The bedroom is comfortable with views over a balcony to the sea. Although it is at road level we were not particularly bothered by traffic noise. The ensuite also has spectacular views although is rather cramped (my husband and I struggled to share it) but fortunately there is another bathroom downstairs. The galley kitchen is small but functional and extremely well equipped with lovely serving platters and all you would require for cooking and entertaining if required. The kitchen windows open out onto the deck for easy food service. The living room was completely redundant during our stay as we did all our living out on the deck. My only warning would be that the spiral staircase between floors is very narrow and steep and not for those with mobility issues. The lower floor can easily be reached via the outside stairs but this would be unpleasant in bad weather.
All communication with anna was extremely informative and prompt and Mr Franco was fabulous for our transport to and from Salerno and for taking care of any maintenance issues. We felt the cottage was excellent value for money. We loved our stay at La Clarissa and would gladly return in the future -

New Haven, CT, USAStunning views at a charming and cozy getaway on the coast
Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in April 2012
La Clarissa sits perched on the amalfi coast just off the amalfi Drive in Minori. The photos of this place don't lie. The views of the coast and sea are amazing from here. Unfortunately, we visited in april and had four straight days of clouds and rain. The few brief glimmers of sunshine we did have made it all worth it. Just a few minutes of soaking up the sun on the terrace while listening to the waves crash against the rocky coast did wonders for me.
The apartment is the right size for 1 or 2 people. My husband and I stayed here together, and it was just the right size for us. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with accessibility issues, however, as stairs are required to get from the upstairs bedroom to the downstairs terrace/living room/kitchen. The entrance to the house is also directly on the amalfi Drive. This didn't pose too many problems for us, but you should take caution in entering and exiting the property as the drive is just two lanes and cars can sometimes come by very quickly.
The amenities are basic (no fancy equipment in the kitchen, standard TV channels, no internet), but this should be no problem if you're spending most of your time out on the terrace (which I would highly recommend!). The house is also a short walk from Minori. We ended up cooking most meals with food we bought at the markets in town. I would also recommend the walk up the 1,250 stairs to Ravello. It's a great way to see the towns tucked into the coast.
Finally, the service we received was great. Anna was in communication with me for the few months leading up to our arrival. Their helper, Franco, kindly picked us up in town when we arrived by bus and dropped us off again when we departed. We also happened to meet anna and her husband at a local restaurant while we were eating out. They are a lovely couple. -

My husband and I recently stayed at La Clarissa. We were so pleased with this wonderful villa. It was in a perfect location for our amalfi Coast vacation. We were within walking distance of the charming town of Minori and there was a Sita bus stop a few steps away so we could hop on and visit all the other lovely towns along the amalfi Coast. We spent hours walking along the paths and stair steps of local hill top towns and marveled at the gorgeous views.
After purchasing groceries in Minori we were able to make breakfasts in the well equipped kitchen at the villa. Taking in the views from the terrace as we ate breakfast was a perfect way to start our day. La Clarissa is a comfortable and relaxing apartment and we both slept like babies after our daily adventures.
Anna was very helpful when we made our reservations and Mr. Franco was a good host when we arrived. We are already talking of returning to this amazing place.

You won't be disappointed with your stay at La Clarissa, it has the most wonderful views over the amalfi Coast, is well situated with a 5 minute walk into the charming town of Minori, and has all the living accommodation you will need for a great stay. We received great communication before our stay from anna, were met with a warm response from Mr Franco, and had a fantastic week in the villa - we will be going back!

We stayed at La Clarissa in late august and early September 2011 and it was the most amazing vacation home I've ever stayed in...and I"m a world traveler! The view and the patio are absolutely perfect...you are right on the water with all ammenities you could imagine. The villa is a short 5 minute walk to Minori and all the shops, restaurants and markets. We walked into town every day and cooked dinner and ate on the patio while taking in the amazing view of the sea.
Franco was our main contact and he was the best. He picked us up from the airport in Naples for 100 euro and drove us everywhere we needed to go while we were there. He also gave us many suggestions on where to eat, shop, etc.
Anna (owner) provided a network key for us so we did have internet access while we were there. You just have to ask for it.
We will definitely be back! Enjoy! -

We spent a week in this gorgeous place and were just amazed by its beauty. We were initially a bit put off by the nearness of the road, but we slept just fine. The apartment is beautifully fitted and extremely clean, and we loved the friendly little town of Minori so much more than its famous and so-touristy neighbors. The cottage is a fantastic location for exploring, but we tried to make sure we spent enough time on that terrace, which is like something from a dream. The walk along the road is a bit of a challenge, but the destination is completely worth it. When shopping for a rental, you always hope the photos are accurate - and this time, it's even better in person.

Glasgow, United KingdomFantastic Views! Ideal villa for 2 people.
Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We had a wonderful stay at La Clarissa. The views were stunning – all the windows opened out to views of the sea and the amalfi coast – I would score the views at a very easy 110%. Well appointed kitchen – it had all the devices that you would need and I liked that there was a proper fridge/freezer and not just an ice box in the fridge. The patio was fantastic for sunbathing, eating out and for its views and the outside shower was great for cooling down whilst sunbathing.
There’s not much that I could criticize the villa for. The shower cubicle in the bathroom was a little small but clean and quite adequate and the lack of earthed socket in the kitchen meant that we had to use the kettle and toaster in the living room. Minor points and I really am scrambling to find any fault. Nothing to do with the villa but be prepared for the roads and driving if you do decide to hire a car!
Make sure you do the 4 hour speed boat hire which you can arrange to pick you up at Minori. We hired a boat between 3 couples and it cost 50 euros per couple (including petrol) for a fantastic way of seeing all the amalfi coastline along with a few swimming stops and a bit of riding the wash of big boats. Superb day out!
I would recommend La Clarissa to any couples that want a really romantic stay on the amalfi coast. -

4 days wasn't enough to do the area justice and also relax and enjoy the spectacular setting of this apartment.the front of the property backs on to the main road to amalfi but excellent double glazing and thick walls means you sleep like a baby. Very small lounge area but who needs to sit inside with a view like that? Address says 'Ravello' but it is actually 3 mins walk from Minori and an hour walk uphill to Ravello- thought this was confusing.

Hi Pat,
thank you for your great review. It makes me so proud of my daily work to have all at the best for my guests.
Thank you for advising me about the may be misleading address.
I understand the point but, the "postal address" of La Clarissa is Ravello.
What I can do, and I will, is to put your point well clear on the website description of the cottage.

This compact house/apartment was totally delightful. Very clean, well thought-out and comfortable. The downn-side was that the noise from the road was intrusive and that I would say that the accomodation was nearer Minori than Ravello - but that was no problem.

Villa Clariss is a lovely space on the sea. The view is stunning. It is very comfortable for two people and has nice anmeties. The Gambardella's make sure you are taken care and Mr. Franco is professional and sweet. Minori is a little rustic but amalfi and Maiori are close by. Ravello sits on top of the mountain. The pictures do not do this cottage justice. We had an absolutely fantastic stay during our time at La Clarissa. Anna and Oskar were such fantastic hosts and made us feel welcome in the amalfi Coast. Their attention to detail made all the difference (there was coffee in the cupboard and they left us fresh fruit, which combined with the view was more than we could have ever asked for). Great private patio with easy access to the rest of the amalfi Coast for exploring during the day, La Clarissa is definitely a new favorite for us. We will forever reminisce about our time there and cannot wait to return. Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Clarissa. The apartment was neat and clean, and very nicely appointed. The views are spectacular, from the terrace, the bedroom, and even the kitchen! We especially liked the privacy of the terrace, and the outdoor shower. It is a short walk to Minori, where you can purchase all provisions. The beach at Minori was splendid. We had a car at our disposal, and many beautiful sites are within driving distance, there is a spot to park a short walk from the villa. This is an ideal spot for a romantic get away!
