Pleasantly surprised in Virginia
FosterA delightful haven during a wide-spread electrical outage
Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in May 2012
We came to the Bay Chalet, because electricity was out throughout Richmond, Va, and many other communities in southeastern Virginia. Amazingly, this lovely place still had electricity. It must have been outside the major grid servicing the large cities. In any case, we had a very wonderful stay. I must admit that I was surprised that the place was so nice. For me, what mattered was that the kitchen was well equipped with a side-by-side fridge/freezer, and a beautiful view from the kitchen through the adjacent dining room, through the living room out to the woods which were outside the large sliding glass doors. There were beautiful flowers blooming in the woods. It was just the two of us, so we stayed in the ground floor bedroom using the ground floor bath. However, there was so much more room in the house--two bedrooms and a bath upstairs and a fold out couch in the walk-in basement plus a washer and dryer. I loved the decks on each level. My husband liked the multi-channel television with widescreen and the walk down to the water. We thought we were going to eat in restaurants in Reedville, but, in the end, we liked the place so much that we just stayed at the house, relaxed, and made our own meals. At night, we could see lightning and hear distant thunder, but we lucked out with electricity the whole long weekend we stayed at Bay Chalet.
