The MacMillan House in Windcliff is a beautiful home with fantastic views of Rocky Mountain National Park. It's a quiet, relaxing, comfortable place to get away and enjoy nature at its most majestic.
We have stayed here twice for special occasions -- once in the fall to spend time hiking in the National Park and recently in December to enjoy the spectacular mountain views by the comfort and warmth of the fireplace.
We have found the MacMillan House to be a quiet, comfortable place where you can recharge your personal batteries and enjoy bringing a few friends to share the tranquility. This is not a rustic cabin in the mountains, rather this is a beautiful mountain home where you can feel that you are "roughing" it in the mountains in a luxurious way.
Our piece of advice -- bring your own food and coffee, and be prepared to prepare some meals in the fully equipped kitchen. When you finish your day of hiking and drive up the twisting mountain road to reach the house -- you won't feel like leaving to go out for dinner.
After a day in the mountains, be prepared to either eat in town before heading to the house or have your own food at the house available for cooking. You won't feel much like driving back down just to eat!
