We had plumbing problems, the mattresses needed replacing, we had lights that were out and could find not light bulbs. The downstairs basement bedroom and bathroom had a mildew smell and then when the toilets would not flush we all got fed up and left. With all the problems the we incurred, we certainly did not feel that we got our money's worth. When we rented this property we thought that it was on the Carolina Morning Rental program, but when we called with our plumbing problems the answering service told us that this property was not on the rental program and they would have to contact the owner and get a plumber. I would only stay at a property that was on a rental program so when problems arise they can be addressed as soon as possible.
Also, the owner needs to get a better cleaning service. Overall the house inside and out was really not clean. And a far as the gas grill, not much use when there is no GAS in the tank!!

We wanted to thank you for taking the time to review Bears Den Mountain Cabin. We're truly sorry that you experienced so many dilemmas during your stay. We do have records of you calling about the toilets being clogged, but also have records of you calling back to let us know that the issue had resolved itself and that you did not needed assistance. We would have loved for you to let us know about your other concerns during your call, so that we could have passed them on the owner for immediate response.

Many times issues can be cleared right away with a little communication. For instance, had you let the owner know that you could not find light bulbs or extra gas for the grill, she could have pointed you to their proper storage places. There are light bulbs on hand, but we will definitely make them a little easier to find for future guests. Also, the cleaners always check the gas grill to make sure it has gas, but in the case that someone needs more it is located in the basement for their use. We really depend upon our guests to let us know when they are in need of something, so that the issue can be resolved right away.

As a vacation rental management company, we offer many different plans to our property owners. Some owners hire us to do complete management, while others prefer to manage their own repairs and maintenance. In either instance, either Carolina Mornings or the owner of the property is fully available to receive calls and respond to any needs our guests have. When we informed you that we were calling the owner for you, we were simply letting you know that someone would be responding right away, and letting you know who that person would be. While we may not manage every aspect of every property, many times it is a much easier and smoother process to call an owner who is usually much closer to the property, as our offices are in downtown Asheville.

When our guests book with us, there is a direction sheet in their information packet that gives all the information they may need. The first contact on the direct sheet is the quickest contact for any issues. If the owner manages the property, their number will be at the top of that list, with instructions to call for any reason you may have. Our owners are very proud of their properties and enjoy taking care of their guests. There is not much difference in calling them or us, as we are both friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and able to respond as soon as we are notified that we are needed.

Thank you for informing us about the mattresses and the mildew smell. We are wondering if perhaps the musty smell came from a recent rain or another mountain cabin issue, but regardless we will definitely pass your review on to the owner for them to address.
