From the moment we stepped in the door and looked out the back windows at the mountains, we knew we had found THE place to relax and use as our vacation base. The furniture is so comfortable and stylish, the layout of the cabin is great, the kitchen quite adequate and the porch....loved it. I wished there were a few pillows on the porch furniture but we ate breakfast and dinner out there every day and watched the sun go down over the mountains. While we didn't watch much TV, it was nice having such a large one available to us.
We would go back again.

This property was very nice and well maintained. However, the sleeping arrangements were very misleading. The website says it can sleep 4 people, which was how many we brought. However, it only had 1 small double bed and a pull out couch that was broken down and had was too uncomfortable to sleep on. Thus, we ended up having to sleep people on the floor. This would be a nice place for a couple, but no more than two people.

Hi Matt,

Thank you so much for your review. We are glad you found the property very nice and well maintained, but are very sorry to hear that the sleeping arrangements weren’t perfect for you. We do wish you could have alerted either Carolina Mornings or the owners to this issue while you were staying with us. We appreciate the opportunity to resolve any issues right away so your stay can be the best possible.

We were very concerned about the description of the sleeper as ‘broken down’ since the mattress to the current sleeper was replaced about 1 year ago with a brand new inner spring sleeper mattress.

The sleeping arrangements for Cabin in the Clouds have been checked out. Indeed, there were two springs in the sleeper sofa that had become detached. They have been reconnected. We appreciate you letting us know.

There was one other spring that was stretched out and is being replaced for now, although the owners have decided it is time for them to buy a brand new sleeper.

It is because of your review that this cabin has been improved for everyone. Thank you so much!

On the positive side, this cabin has remarkable views and a breath-taking sunset nightly. It was isolated enough in its little moutain community to feel private. It was also VERY clean and the internet worked flawlessly. We also enjoyed the family room furnishings, fireplace and nice tv. There was always plenty of hotwater and the AC units worked well. On the disappointing side, the bathroom was a bit scary. Who did the caulking? I could see light from outside in places. And the kitchen was barely usable do to its VERY small size; tiny litle stove and microwave. However, the newer frig was great.
We loved downtown Black Mtn. but have rented a place west of Asheville for next year. We'll let you know which side is better. With an updated bath and kitchen, we'd definitely come back.

I was completely satisfied. Very comfortable and view is as good as advertised. I thought off street parking might be preferred but since it's secluded I didn't give it much thought.

We had a fabulous time. Everything advertised was right on the money. We had the best time reading the guest book. Got so many laughs out of reading other people's visits to the property.

Our dog came with us as the cabin is pet-friendly. She loved it too. There is no yard because you are on the side of the mountain with a wonderful view so we all got exercise walking the dog on the mountain road.

My girlfriend and i stayed here in September last year. The weather was perfect and i plan to go there again this year with more family or friends.I'm anxious to share this experience with others i love and can use a good break from the stress of work. All the accomodations were outstanding. The location is perfect. The view is breathtaking. It's all perfect. It's one expense i don't mind paying because it's worth it.I want to try other cabins, but i have to go back to cabin in the clouds again, for now. Were i live in southern south carolina,it's very hot.At this cabin at the end of the summer, the visit takes all that away.Thank You Carolina Mornings

We are from FL and was looking for a nice affordable place to stay in the mountains. This was perfect. We ended up inviting my parents to join us. We let them stay in the bedroom and we slept on the pullout couch. This was not the best of nights sleep. I would like to see this replaced with something a little more comfortable. The view was beautiful. It is a very nice winding road to the top of the mountain. Being from FL this was really a nice change. Parking is very limited as we had two vehicles and you pretty much just pull off the side of the road to park. Other than those two MINOR issues I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It was clean, the heat worked, the price was great and all in all a wonderful weekend getaway. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY!

What a wonderful location! Close to so many locations of interest. Very clean and orderly. A little hard to find at night. Would just recommend a number on the property.

Hi Cathy,

Thank you so much for reviewing Cabin in the Clouds. We’re glad you loved it so much. We did notice that you and another guest, Jaime Young, mentioned that it was a little hard to find and could use a property sign. We addressed this issue with the owners and they were happy to mount a sign on the side of the road in front of the cabin that says ‘FINNEY 702’.

We also now include a special map with distinct directions for each of our guests. We also figured out that GPS’s seem to send guests to the wrong side of the mountain, so we let our guests know that. Using the map we provide is the best way to find the property now.

In essence, now it is much easier to find and I’m sure you agree that the cabin and the spectacular views are worth the drive!

Thank you again!

I enjoyed this cabin for the breath-taking views of the back porch. My only complaint was that the cabin needed a sign, so the renters could tell where it was on the road. Overall, I enjoyed my stay!

Cabin in the Clouds is an appropriate name for this house. It's quiet and secluded up above the town of Black Mountain. The back porch overlooks a valley and distant mountains, which makes it a great place to read with a cup of coffee or even have a meal with a really peaceful view. You can bring some groceries and just rest quietly up in the cabin or drive into Black Mtn (5 minutes) or Asheville (15 minutes) for the food, live music and shops. Well worth renting for a few days.
