Nice but wouldn't stay here again |

We have stayed at several cabins in and around Asheville and this one was not up to our expectations. The best thing about this cabin is that it is pet friendly.
This is truely a log cabin that needs alot of attention - in the kitchen we had to watch out since there is a soft place in the floor that we felt could collapse - the logs in the upstairs bed room had spaces that you could see daylight through(maybe that was why we found spiders in the house and on the bed).
It has a VRC but no one rents videos on tape anymore and several people wrote in the guest book that a small investment in a DVD player would be appreciated. While we always go out shopping after we arrive, we did not plan on making a second trip when we found there was no toilet paper in the cabin. We did buy paper towels on our first trip and we were glad we did since there was only a quarter of a roll on the towel dispenser. In all the other cabins we have rented there was at least one backup roll of toilet paper and of paper towels - we were lucky we came early because if you arrived late in the evening, you would be out of luck.
We were also told that this house is in the woods which is quite wrong. You are surrounded by houses right next to you and sitting on the deck you could hear the traffic on the expressway.
If you are planning on reading - do it in the day since the lighting in the cabin leaves alot to be desired. You certainly can't read in bed or in the living room since lighting is very poor. |

| 4 people and 2 Labrador retrievers had a great time here. It was a relief to come back to a "home" rather than just a room at a hotel. Convenient to the Biltmore Estate (about 20-30min.). We also enjoyed driving north to Bakersville to tour some outstanding pottery studios and visit Penland School of Arts & Crafts (about 40-50min. North). We spent some time in downtown Black Mountain (only a few minutes away) and had a delicous meal at My Father's Pizza, where dogs are welcome at the outdoor dining area. Our waitress even brought a dish of water for the dogs. Black Mountain also has a nice dog park with very friendly locals and their dogs. On the way home we stopped in Asheville and were suprised at the number of dogs we saw being walked around the city. It was an excellent 3 days for us and the dogs! I know they appreciated the roominess of a house as opposed to a room in a hotel. The location was great!!! |

| This was a last minute rental...in fact, we had reservations in Asheville at a hotel, but thought we'd try to see if we could get a cabin...and we found this place! It was really adorable and super clean. There were two couples and 2 teenage girls, so everyone had space to spread out...yet have time together for movie watching and making dinner. Only things I'd "warn" about are that there isn't a DVD player, so either bring along a VHS or run it through your computer (which is what we did). Other thing is the bathroom upstairs...beware that when you use those facilities, people in the next bedroom can hear EVERYTHING!!! Ha ha ha!!! We all had great giggles over this, but be forewarned! It's not as secluded as one would think, but that was actually a great thing...we were close to the grocery store and main highways. Also...the place is pet friendly and that was great! There is a big backyard for running around and a covered carport for parking. All-in-all, we were really pleased with this place and would definitely use it again! Tons of charm, personality, and warmth! |

Nice home. Having 3 small children, staying in a hotel doesn't work very well, so we have stayed in several vacation homes. Greenbriar Getaway was nice. I did not like the split of one bedroom on the upper level and 2 on the lower level. We did not want to leave one child upstairs alone or all of them down and us up. Other than that, we liked the home.
As you are driving up the street to the home, there are other homes, so I was worried that it would not be as secluded as it looks in the pictures. But there are trees all around and you really don't know how close the neighbors are except out one window you can see another house. |
