Slow Living Cottage was lovely, secluded, and exactly what we needed for our weekend away. Nestled in the woods, the cottage was clean and fresh. The owner uses "green" products and the cottage seemed well-designed to stay cool and comfortable without needing the A/C provided. It's located about 15 easy minutes north of downtown Asheville and convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway and white water rafting among other activities. If you are a road cyclist be aware that there is a 1/2 mile or so of gravel road getting to the cottage. We found it to be the perfect place to a couple to unwind and reconnect.

We loved everything about our stay - the lovely woodland setting teeming with wildlife, the hot tub and the beautifully furnished and decorated cottage. The little extra personal touches by the owner were particularly appreciated, eg the slippers, the birdseed for the feeder on the verandah and her kindness when we needed to change our itinerary for health reasons. This cottage really merits its name of Slow Living Cottage and we would recommend it to anybody needing to escape the stresses of modern living.

It is exactly what is advertised. If you are looking for a small, out-of-the way cottage where you can relax and let the world melt away, then this is perfect. It is a short drive to Asheville's downtown and conveniently located for river rafting. My wife was hesitant, but our vacation was immensely better than if we'd stayed at a hotel.

The property is just absolutely beautiful and well maintained. We felt right at home instantly! I personally loved being away from the hustle & bustle of work and everyday life - no TV, no internet - just us and nature. We looked forward to our evening visits from Buddy & Pip (the cats). If you are just looking for the perfect getaway for 2 from everything, this is the cottage for you.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful cottage to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. It was fabulous!! So secluded, yet we went into Asheville every day for breakfast, sightseeing, etc. We could hardly wait to get back to the cottage in the afternoons to feed the birds (and squirrels) and get in the hottub!! The cottage is small, but well designed so you don't feel cramped. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are planning on going back soon!!

We were totally thrilled with our stay. The cottage is lovely from the
materials used to build it to the many small details that make it feel
like a home.
We started each day with a soak in the outdoor hot tub, and ended
each day watching the birds from the deck. Heaven! |

The pictures of this cottage do not do it justice. There has been a great deal of thought and design that went into this structure. It's a blend of contempory, open design, and confortable, earthy nature. Everything was very clean, and worked just as it should. This is an excellent place to truely get away from it all. The owner has everything you need to unwind, and get back in touch with yourself: a hot tub that you can actually see a sky full of stars in, a window seat with a view of nothing man-made, and two of the most relaxing lounge chairs my husband and I have ever sat in. However, you should not rent this cottage if you're looking for stimulus. There's no cable, etc. This is a place to get away from all that.
