Perfect Location (and a really nice place, too)

We have traveled to Key West every January since 2001 to escape the temperatures up North. After hopping thru several of the hotels, we decided several years back to rent houses/townhouses for our stays. We love staying in the Truman annex. It is so close to everything, yet quiet (no annoying drunks or chickens noises at all - both a plus). Key West Found is beautiful. No complaints. At Home Key West is a wonderful company to work with. This was our third straight year renting with them, and we look forward to continuing the trend. More...

Perfect Location!!!

This condo was clean comfortable and located minutes from all the action on Duval and in Mallory Square. The location was perfect combination of peace and quiet at home while only block away from all the excitement of the surrounding area. Was a little disappointed with the size of the pool on admirals lane but other than that it was a wonderful trip and would stay in the same location again. People at at Home Key West were very efficient and congenial. Thank You!! More...

Great Location

What a great place to stay. Only a few short blocks to Duval Street, Mallory Square and the state park. The house was great and we did not lack for any comfort (except Wifi). Everything was just as described.

We arrived late (10 p.m.) and the keys were easy to get to and the security guard at Truman annex gave us our parking pass as we came into the annex. It was also great to have a covered parking space; definitely helped keep the car a little cooler.

We would definitely stay here again. More...

Location, Relaxation, Location, Comfort, Location, Quiet

This is the place to stay for an excursion to Key West. Within a 3-4 minute casual stroll, you are in the middle of all the activities, shops and restaurants; however, this "home away from home" is as peaceful as can be. The interior is very well decorated and the beds are extremely comfortable. Sitting on the front porch, drinking wine with your spouse, while your children are watching a movie from a well stocked dvd collection is priceless. As far as local wildlife, there were no bugs but plenty of geckos and chickens... all outside! Would our family stay at this location again? Oh yes, we would not think twice about it. More...

June 2011 vacation

The rental agency was very good at any request we had. The people were nice and very helpful. A miniblind broke while we were there and it was replaced the next day. The only issue we had was the kitchen was called "gourmet" and it was basic at best, it did not even have a cutting board. More...

Quiet Sanctuary Steps away from fun-filled Key West

This condo was perfect for me, my wife and three teen aged daughters. We made use of the pool, and found the condo delightfully quiet at night, but so very close to all the fun of Duval Street, Mallory Docks and the uncrowded beach at Zachary Taylor Park. Walking distance to virtually all of the great restaurants in Key West More...

Great location with the benefits of a home

I have two complaints: First, I was told pets were not allowed by the neighborhood association, yet I saw them everywhere in nearby units. This was important to me, so I felt I was not given the best vacation I could have had because I couldn't bring my aging dog. Second, pest control arrived to spray the property inside while we were there. I found that distasteful for the rate we were paying. This kind of maintenance should be scheduled between stays. Other than that, I loved the property and its proximity to the pier and Duval St. More...

At Home In Key West, Inc.

Manager Response to Ron

Thank you for taking the time to review our home. There is a homeowners association in Truman Annex that does not allow pets for rentals less than one month in length, and many of the full time residents in Truman Annex have pets as well. Located in the sub-tropics, pest control is taken very seriously here as we realize most of our guests are not familiar with some of our little four-legged inhabitants. As often as possible, spraying takes place when guests are not present and we will certainly remind this company of that consideration.

We're so glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again!

Key West is truly paradise!

Our unit seemed clean at first, but one bathroom toilet was not very clean, and we had a missing shower curtain in another bathroom. Lots of dirty spots on the walls. I had to go around cleaning them with windex. I'm happy to report not a single bug or red ant to be found in our unit! The Foundry complex is very close to Duval St., Mallory Square, and about a mile from Fort Zachory Taylor Beach. Weather was very enjoyable! More...

Great

I would recommend this place to anyone. The location is the best part. Just 2 blocks away from Davol, and then back at the rental very peacful. The set up of the townhouse was perfect, with each bedroom having its own full bathroom. The porch was perfect for sitting out enjoying coffee. The full kitchen with a full size fridge. The reservation process was excellent and very responsive when making them.

Quiet Comfort

This location provided a comfortable retreat from the heat of the day wandering Old Town, with a small community pool and welcome ice cold air conditioning. While the site was not as clean as we would expect upon arrival, the condition of this renatl was above average, with comfortable beds, clean linens and towels, and a functional kitchen area with the necessary tools to allow for meals at home when desired.

The location is ideal, only a few blocks walk to all the Old Town haunts like Mallory Square, Hog's Breath Saloon, and Schooner Wharf. Truman annex provides a nice, quiet escape from the daily lunacy of Old Town, but it all remains within easy reach when you are ready to venture into the fray!.

atHome Key West provided all necessary check-in information with ease, and check out was a breeze, but I would have hoped the site had a Guest Book and/or local information to offer greater insight to locations of the pool, or unique activities and experiences from other guests.

During our stay a maintenance issue arose. One phone call to atHome and the issue was attended to without fuss. A pleasure to not have to think about anything other than vacation activity.

Overall, a great choice for my wife and grown children to "Chill" during the breaks in activity. More...

Great location and very nice place

This was a great experience. The staff was great to work with and answered all our questions. The location in the Truman annex was perfect for us. Calm and tranquil, but very close to all the action...very close! Really the one and only complaint are the bugs. There were a few ants that weren't that big of a deal...but one of the twin beds had many of these "antlike" bugs...under the sheets and all over the bed. Every thing else was great including the washer/dryer, the TV/DVD player, the internet connection...all perfect. I will stay again...with a bottle of Raid. More...

great location, nice & clean, historic

The location in the historic Truman Annex area is perfect - quiet and gated, but
just 2 blocks from Duval St. Walking distance to pool, many restaurants, Mallory
Square, beach at Fort Zach Taylor. We did not need a car all week, just taxi to
and from the airport. The unit is in the historic brick Foundry Building just a few
doors down from the Truman White House, along of stately historic private
houses. Decor is nice and clean. Bedrooms are nice and bright; master has a
nice small balcony that gets morning sun.

We will definitely do the Truman Annex again!

Our only quibble with this unit is lack of wireless internet - the owners need to
invest in a $50 wireless router. More...

Great fun in Key West but disappointed with managment company.

We had done extensive research on places to stay in Key West and had decided we wanted to stay near Old Town in a vacation rental instead of a hotel. My wife and I spent many hours to find the perfect place which was being managed through At Home in Key West.

We had just completed our three hour flight and where about an hour into our drive from Miami when we received a call from At Home in Key West. They were notifying us that the rental we had signed up for was no longer available because of some maintenance issue. There solution was to put us into another unit.

We told them we would be in Key West at 5pm and would like to stop by to look at what was available. This however was not an option they provided to us. They said they close at 5pm so they would pick out a unit for us. I asked them if we didn't like the unit then what. They told me we could come by the office the next day and figure something else out. My wife and I were OK with this solution. However, when we requested other options the next day they said this was our unit for the duration on our stay. It was obvious to us that the management company was never interested in moving us to another unit.

As far as the specific unit, Key West Found, it was OK. It was three levels with level two and three being the bedrooms with their own bath. There was a washer and dryer which was convenient. It had a covered parking space and acess to a wireless network. The best feature was the location. It was within walking distance of Old Town and Fort Zachary Taylor. Any unit in Truman Annex will give you the location benefit.

As other reviews had mentioned, there was a real problem with red ants on the first floor. The decor was not to our tastes and the unit had a definite smell that was not to our liking. I am not sure if the smell was from the cleaning solution they used on the first floor tile but it was overwhelming to us. More...

Living in Key West - Truman Annex

Family of 2 adults and 3 children went to stay for 2 weeks at Key West. The Area where we lived in was really nice and quite. We only had 3-4 min of walk to Duval Street which is the main turist trap street. The house was in 3 levels with all you need of accessories. We were pleased with the home only had a few issues of red ants invading the 2 top floors through the kitchen. A fridge that was leacking water. So all in all we can recommend this house if you are willing to pay more than US 2.000 per week.

The Foundry

Loved Truman Annex, it is beautiful!! The townhouse in the The Foundry was nice, due to the climate insects pretty bad, ants in the kitchen that type of thing one must be alert for. Overall we had a great week. This was our 4th trip to Key West and each year it gets better and better. Already planning for next year, will probably want a house in the Annex if we don't rent on the water. Stored the boat @ Key West Marina, service was awesome there, would recommend to all boaters. Parking in the Annex is a pain, we have adult children who visited and left at different times during the week, when one rents a home to accomodate 6 people @ least 2 parking spaces should be designated. Also recommend if other homes are vacant share the parking spaces, there were always spaces open yet the "kids" couldn't utilize all it would take is a bit of coordination from the realtors. More...

RECOMMENDED, WITH RESERVATIONS

OVERALL, A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. LOCATION-PERFECT! ACCOMDATIONS- GREAT! THE TRUMAN ANNEX IS PICTURE-PERFECT. ONLY TWO COMPLAINTS.
FIRST- THE TOWELS AND WASHCLOTHS WERE OF THE TYPE THAT I WOULD USE TO WASH MY CAR AFTER THE HAD OUTLIVED THEIR LIFE EXPECTANCY. VERY WORN AND TATTERED!
SECOND- THE $149 "CLEANING FEE" - FOR WHAT! NO HOUSEKEEPING WAS DONE IN THE TIME WE WERE THERE AND 15 MINUTES WORTH OF "CLEANING" WOULD HAVE RETURNED THE UNIT TO "PRE-RENTAL" CONDITION!
