Just Lovely !

We have just returned from 2 idyllic weeks in Tropical Dreaming in Key West. The house was everything we needed. The location was perfect for us being in the southern area of the old town and walking distance to South Beach, Higgs Beach and all of the great restaurants and shopping of Simonton and Duval. The property is large, bright and airy, everything you could need is provided and is very clean and functional. The house is decorated and furnished in a classic almost colonial style and it 'fits itself' beautifully, I think even those who normally like clean and contemporary lines, couldn't fail to appreciate how this has been done. We just loved the quiet and very private outside space with it's fabulous pool. It has a gas barbeque, four comfortable sun loungers and a separate covered dining area, with enclosed fridge and sink. I would highly recommend this rental property for a couple or a family, we really were sad to have to leave and will definitely return ! More...

Great location, property needs a little work

The location of this property in old town Key West is wonderful. Most everything is within walking or biking distance. The house is comfortable and carefully decorated. However, during our last stay it became apparent that the kitchen is badly in need of a refresh. Appliances sound like they're on their last legs. The wear and tear of a popular rental property is beginning to show. Also, be prepared for noise during the night if you're in the front bedroom. There are probably better options at this price point, but it does have charm. More...

Tropical Dreaming

This is a really nice property near the quieter end of Old Town. There is plenty of room for two couples, more than most rental homes in Key West at this price. The pool is also bigger than you will usually find. The place was exceptionally clean and neat. We enjoyed our stay and will rent this one again in the future. More...

perfect location

Nice little house with the worm pool.
We went with our two kids, teenagers, and it was perfect for them. House is one block of Duval and 3 to the beach, so they could wonder around by themselves without any problems.
The only huge minus was that for the price we payed, mattress`s on all beds are old and cheep, so sleeping was not as comfortable as it should be.

Lived up to its name

The house was beautiful, and the management company was a huge help when some issues came up. The house was close to the south end of Duval and almost felt too nice for a rental property. I'd love to book it again and come back. More...

Awesome house for relaxation after adventures

We chose this house becauase of the privacy of having our own pool, dog friendly and within easy distance from Duval. It met our expectations and then some! We had folks on either side of us during our stay but still had privacy due to the fences and lush vegetation. There were several bike/motor scooter rental businesses within walking distance so we never needed a car! The large kitchen was great for cooking meals in when we decided not to eat out and the outside grill was used as well. The bedrooms were comfortable, each with it's own bathroom in addition to the small bathroom downstairs. Word of warning for handicapped folks this may be a difficult house to stay in. There are a few stairs to get into the front door and stairs to the upstairs bedrooms. However, there is a downstairs pull out sleeper couch--not sure how comfortable it is since we did not use it.

We will be coming back next year and staying here. If you want to chill or a jumping point for exploration, this place it it!! More...

The home was clean, private and close to everything in a great l

We were there for a week in September, everything was clean, and the home had everything we needed -- sheets, blankets, bath towels and beach towels, hair dryer and the kitchen had all of the things you need to cook a meal. Most importantly it was extremely clean. We did have a lot of interruptions such as the pool guy - 3 times, the landscaper - twice and the pest control guy once. Honestly, there was nothing for them to do, I don't know why any of them were there in the first place. Other than that, we highly recommend the home and location. More...

Great Stay!

My husband and I have been to the Keys many times, but this was the first time we decided to rent a house instead of staying at a hotel.
The house was spacious, clean, and had everything you might need. This property is pet friendly so we brought our 2 dogs with us and it was perfect.

The Best Vacation Ever!!

The home is very inviting and comfortable. So many rentals are decorated in a way that appears the owner is just covering up space. Clearly there was thought, care and effort that went into the decor of this home which made you feel good about your choice and enhanced your stay. It made our first Key West experience one we will always cherish and we are already making plans to return. The home was clean and well stocked with everything any vacationer or home owner could want or need. It is conveniently located within walking distance of all the Key West points of interest...shopping, dining, historical sites, beaches, wharfs, etc. We were so impressed by our experience, we have shared our excitement with all of our friends and family who are now interested in duplicating our experience with their own trips to Key West and staying at the Tropical Dreaming location. You can't go wrong with Tropical Dreaming. More...

Can't wait to go back!!!

We just love this house. When we arrived, it was spotless. The set up with the privacy of the pool and surrounding landscape creates a total relaxation package for both of us. On the down side, the pool heater did not work and for each day of our stay but one, we had to call the rental agency. They did address the problem quickly, but we felt bothersome constantly calling. We were told that a new heater was to be installed. Maybe a better mattress in the master would be beneficial. Overall, we just love this house and all its offerings. More...

Wonderful vacation...had it all!

Tropical Dreaming is tastefully and pleasantly decorated, with a perfectly-sized pool. The ammenities of the house made it most relaxing & convenient...the location couldn't have been better. Tropical Dreaming is far enough from Duvall to be a quiet retreat, but only a 5 minute walk (max.) to wonderful dining and shopping. We enjoyed walking to the historic district, museums, dock, & marina, as well as the shops & restaurants. The quality and variety of shopping and restaurant fare in Key West is definitely superior to that of what we have experienced in other tourist-friendly beach destinations. The choices of excursions also surprised us: we chose an eco-tourist venue that provided sailing, snorkeling and ocean kyaking in and around the National Wildlife Preserve through Java Cat Charters. This excursion was not only provided beautiful scenery, but was educational as well! We look forward to returning to Key West & Tropical Dreaming! More...

An overall wonderful experience!

Tropical Dreaming was everything we wanted in a vacation get away. The decor charmingly reflected Key West and the home was well appointed, very clean and comfortable. After long days seeing the sights, shopping and dining, the little pool was always something to look forward to. The very private outdoor area with the bar and varied seating options was a perfect spot for entertaining. Although a family wedding brought us to Key West we are considering a return visit next year. Great fun! More...

Great house, nice decor...noisy surroundings

This unit was a lovely home in a great location to walk or bike to just about anything in Key West. It was nicely appointed and very tastefully decorated. We did find it to be a bit noisy with a contractor's yard and machine shop at nearby and adjacent properties during business hours (not exactly the atmosphere to be able to enjoy a nap by the pool). The pool heater wasn't working upon arrival and the service to repair took several days but they did get it fixed prior to our departure. Also, between landscaping service, pool repair and multiple phone calls from the rental service to the rental residence, we felt more than a little invaded. More...

on my bucket list

Omg love love love! Tropical Dreaming was truly a tropical dream. Everything about the house was perfect for 2 couples, but could easily have accommodated more. The pool was wonderful, warm and just the right size. The decor was spot on for the tropics, and very homey. The location could not have been better. 4 blocks to the beach, 4 blocks to Duval, 3 blocks to church, and wonderful restaurants within 2 to 3 blocks. Basically you don't need a car but if you want to travel the whole island the rental bikes are perfect.
Loved the free range chickens and the flora. Be sure to have the cheeseburger and margarita at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. The Key Lime Pie at the South Beach restaurant and the mohitos. I can't wait to go back.

Tropical Dreaming in Key West

This was our third stay in this home. We meet our friends there the last week in January. The home is perfect for us with two bedrooms and their own baths plus a first floor powder. What we really love is the private pool.
The home is always immaculate and features a full service kitchen and living/dining area overlooking the pool. I would like to suggest maybe a little updating in decor and would also like to suggest a larger flat screen TV on the shelf in the living room instead of the smaller one inside.(I just stole the owner's idea of white shelving and accent background with interesting vignettes on each shelf.)
A great value and we always have a great time. More...

LOVED IT AS MUCH AS LAST YEAR!

We rented both houses and had an amazing time. The pools are fantastic, great location and equipped with everything you need.Plenty of great beach towels.
Washer/drier was a godsend.
Only problem was last year we had internet, but there was not any this year which would have been annoying if we didn't rent the house next door which still had internet.
The metal yard at the back of the house plays really loud radio from 6 - 7am!!!!! Luckily we are early risers and thought it quite funny, but could be off putting for others.

Overall LOVE IT, ready to book for next year! More...

We were five people to enjoy this house during one week which was totally refurbished one year ago.

Everything was so perfect, the house was totally clean, rooms were spacious, the swimming pool was lovely, everything was wellthought, it was really a tropical Dreaming !

The location is great, you are really near Mallory Square and Duval Street (5 minutes walk)

Fantastic Re-Honeymoon

Just like our first year in 2007, we loved our stay at Tropical Dreaming. Beautifully decorated downstairs and with basic-to-good amenities, it suited our family's needs perfectly for the week. The location was close enough to the action to walk, an easy bike ride to our activities, and far enough off the street to be quiet. We had more problems with the renting neighbors being loud and rude than from any other sort of noise.

Checking in and out was very simple; we did the reservations via the net, fax and telephone, and popped into the office for 2 minutes to pick up our keys. The receptionist was nice enough to call the cleaning team to see if we could drop our bags off early at the house so that we could go exploring, and she graciously said we could. When we checked out, we just put the keys in the drop box and were on our way back to the airport.

My college aged daughter's boyfriend went with us, and slept on the sofa bed downstairs. He is a big boy of 6'2", and he said it was more comfortable than his bed at home. All bedding was comfortable and plentiful. Internet access was easy, hot water tank was big, pool water was exemplary, and the lizards were friendly by the pool!

All in all, there was nothing I would change - except to have the waterfall repaired in the pool. It wasn't working 2 years ago, either! We WILL be back! More...

Nice home at a convenient location.

Tropical Dreaming is a nice home in a convenient location. This is definitely the way to go while staying in Key West. While the bedrooms could use a little updating, everything else about the property was really nice. The pool and sitting area/bar around the pool was exceptional and made the trip as we spent most of our down time there. We ran into a little tiff with a broken bar-b-que grill and it took some time to get it taken care of but in the end At Home in Key West made it right. I would like to see better reception services for arivals on the weekend. It was our first time to Key West and obviously the first time using At Home in Key West and we did not know much about the island. We felt that more could have been done to welcome us. All in all, I would use At Home in Key West again but probably try a different property next time. More...

We stayed at Tropical Dreaming (rented from At Home in Key West) for a week in March 09 with. We were 2 couples + 2 young kids and the place was just perfect for us. The location was central to everything in Key West. The house was well furnished and agreeably decorated so we felt at home, not in a rental condo. Convenient to Duval

Nice property, well furnished and very functional with the two bedroom two bath layout. Exposure to the sun from the pool deck is limited to a very small area to the right of the pool as you face it from the dwelling. Wireless connection was not reliable in that the connection only worked in the living room, the connection was frequently lost and no service was available on the second floor.

Relaxing retreat

The property was rented by my husband,me and friends who met us from Philadelphia. Upon entering the home we all remarked how cozy, inviting and clean it was. The space was perfect for us with covered patio and generous pooland very convenient to shops restaurants and the beach. It has all the amenities we wanted except one. It seems the cable was not connected and could not be corrected during our stay, but hopefully will be corrected for future renters.
DVD was also advertised, but we discovered it was only in the master, so we moved it down so all could watch movies in the living room.
If I can make a suggestion-for such a complete and upscale property, I would encourage that at least basic cable was available and a larger tv(possibly a flat screen that would fit perfectly in the living room bookcase be added. Sometimes you don't feel like going out and those two items would have been appealing.
Other than that, we were very satisfied with the home and would definately consider staying there again.
