After detailed and prompt responses from the friendly host Sjonni, we booked our stay in his apartment in central Reykjavik. He was incredibly helpful from the beginning, answering all of my questions, and was very accommodating and flexible with regards to payment and check in times.
Considering this was one of the lower cost holiday apartments I had found in Reykjavik, myself and my partner were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the apartment. It was clean, light, homely and tastefully decorated with a fresh and modern design. We were surprised to find everything that we needed for our weeks stay in Iceland, including clean towels and reasonably good free wifi! We found the bed to be very comfortable, the shower was great and we settled in to the apartment straight away.
The location of the apartment could not have been more convenient, we were a short walking distance away from the main street (about 5 minutes) with shops, restaurants and bars. However we were tucked away enough for it to be fairly quiet, and we couldn't hear any rowdiness from the town at night.
I would definitely recommend staying here as a couple, there was plenty of space. The sofa in the living room was a sofa bed too though, so you could squeeze in two more people if you had to. Although it would be tight! Sjonni was the perfect host, he was available via email throughout our stay to answer any questions we had and he even gave us a few tips of places he liked to visit that we might enjoy.
I would definitely stay here again on our next visit, and recommend it to anyone else who wants a comfortable, central and convenient base for exploring Reykjavik!

Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My partner and I stayed in Center 101 in april 2013 for 6 nights, and we were so impressed with the cleanliness, location and price of the apartment. Everything we needed for our stay, such pots, pans and lots of crockery, was provided, which made it very easy to prepare meals (something we found really useful, as eating out in Reykjavik can be pretty pricey!)
The bed was comfy, and the apartment itself was in a quiet neighbourhood - less than 5 minutes walk to the quaint city centre - so after a long day exploring it was the perfect place to come back to and relax!
Another really convenient aspect of the location is that the apartment is next door to the Metropolitan Hotel, which is a routine pick up point for tour operators, meaning it was very straightforward when we were arranging to be picked up for tours.
Before we arrived, Sjonni was really helpful and was happy to offer information and advice on our trip to Iceland - it was very refreshing to have such a personal and friendly touch.
We would definitely recommend the apartment, and would love to stay there again on a future visit to Reykjavik.Response from Reykjavik-Apartments - 04/25/2013

Couldn't have asked for anything better. Corresponding with Sjonni, one of the owners was a delight, if I had any questions he was always quick with a response and helpful. The apartment was bright, clean and airy, and very easy to get to from the airport. It is ideally located and within walking distance to just about everything. After this experience a holiday rental is something I would definitely consider doing for my next trip

In a terrific location by the old harbour, moments from downtown and a superb art gallery, this one bedroomed apartment was warm, comfortable, well equipped and cosy. It's very modern, uncluttered and bright. Minutes from the bus station and bars and shops, on the edge of the prettyold town. The ketle might be retired and a decent one provided, is the only complaint, and we had no idea how to work the tv, so instructions would have been useful... but great value for the rate and absolutely charming and helpful owners, we decided on day two that we would come back there. Seriously recomme ded.

What a fabulous find! This apartment is a great place to stay while in Reykjavik with a great price. Much better than staying at a hotel. My wife and I spent 2 nights before leaving to the other side of the island. Centrally located to the main street area along with having some great restaurants super close in the Marina area. Make sure to try out The Slippbarrin for great cocktails and organic food items right down the street. Jenny was super friendly and very easy to get a hold of if needed. Easy to do business with and love being able to stay in an apartment that felt like home.

Left on 08/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My family of four stayed in this apartment for two weeks in august 2012. The apartment is in the perfect Reykjavik location, in my opinion - the quaint restored harbor area. There is a cute convenience store, several restaurants, and whale watching companies all within very short walking distance. Just a couple of blocks further brings you to the heart of downtown Reykjavik. In the other direction, you can quickly access grocery stores by car. The location truly could not be better.
The apartment itself was small but worked for four of us - two teens on the fold-out couch and parents in the bedroom. The kitchen has dishes and pots and pans. so we were able to cook breakfast and dinner in the apartment, which was a huge cost savings - food out in Iceland is incredibly expensive by us standards. There was free parking 1/2 block away, wi-fi in the apartment, a TV, and a washer with clothesline to dry clothes in the basement. The apartment was simply but tastefully decorated and had nice wood floors and tilework throughout. All of this for roughly $100 us/night (we did get some discount because we stayed for two weeks). Compared to other places we looked, this was quite a deal, especially for four people.
Sjonni was very helpful about places to eat, where to go to hike up a glacier, etc. He's a mountain guide of some sort, and would be a good resource for more adventurous travelers than we were! He also brought us fresh sheets and a large pan half-way through our stay, which was really appreciated. Only small downside - the hallway outside of the apartment smelled like cigarette smoke. Couldn't smell it in the apartment, but if someone were hyper sensitive to that smell, it might bother you to walk through it each time you come and go.
Renting this apartment was one of the best decisions we made when planning our vacation - can't recommend it enough.

My wife and I stayed for four nights in July. Apartment was easy to get into, very well located and had everything we needed. It was clean, well appointed and very comfortable for the two of use. It's just s short walk from the harbor and the downtown area, but tucked away from the main flow of traffic. Would stay here again if we make it back to Iceland.

This flat has a great location. You can walk anywhere from there. Restaurants and shops are a walking distance. Some interesting galleries as well in the neighbourhood. The bus from from KEF to BSI Terminal and then from BSI to the City Centre will drop you at this flat, which is next door to hotel Metropolitan.
Teley didn't work, so not sure what happened in the world during that time we were there. Although, that could be a good thing, I reckon. But internet was very reliable. Laundry was functionable. People down below smoked, so the hallways smelled tobacco, if you happen to be allergic.
Sigurjón is very helpful as well.
For those who have never been to Iceland, a curiosity: the hot water smells like Sulphur. One gets used to the smell, I say. -

We really enjoyed our stay at Center 101 in Reykjavik. Sjonni met us at the apartment at 1am to let us in and show us everything. It was a short walk to the waterfront and downtown historic district. The bedroom was very comfortable (and dark) despite the 24 hours of sunlight. Clean and secure. We'd stay here again.

We rented this apartment for 15 days over the end of May and beginning of June. The apartment had everything you could possibly need to make your stay in Reykjavik enjoyable. It was easy to find, adjacent to the Metropolitan Hotel (see picture). The apartment is within easy walking distance of the old harbour, the Harpa and downtown Reykjavik, but it is not so close as to make it noisy from the late night partiers.
You should be aware that all housing in this area of the city is on the direct flight path for the domestic airport. If you don't want to hear planes coming into the city, you will need to find accommodation away from the centre of the city.
The apartment was very clean and well organized (see floor plan). There was a comfortable good sized bed with down filled duvets. The bedroom had a blackout blind although light managed to filter in around the edges so you might want an eye mask if you need darkness to sleep. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, a convection oven and a good size fridge/freezer. The bathroom, although small, had an excellent shower. The livingroom/dining room had a dining table that sat four and had a pull out sofa. There were laundry facilities in the basement of the building.
After our first week in the apartment, Sjonni set up a convenient time with us when he came and changed the bed linens and provided fresh towels.
There were two corner grocery stores within easy walking distance.
While the parking immediately in front of the apartment was pay parking, one block down the street was free on street parking We never had difficulty finding free on street parking.
We were very pleased with the apartment and would highly recommend it to others. -

Beautiful, clean, centrally located apartment in the 101 neighbor of Reykjavik. Within walking distance of everything in the city – museums, great restaurants, extensive shopping, the waterfront and the list goes on. Sjonni keeps an immaculate apartment and is the consummate host. He is a wealth of information and is willing to share his knowledge of his country with those who take the time to ask. Do Not stay in a hotel when in Reykjavik – you lose out on the city’s ambiance of the local neighborhoods. This apartment is close to the action yet far enough away to be quite and relaxing. We have already started to plan our next trip to Iceland and look forward to spending more time in a truly unique and beautiful place. See you soon Sjonni!

Brilliant central location, a few steps from all the attractions and lots of great places to eat nearby. Lovely modern flat with chic furniture. Spotlessly clean. Everything you will need in the kitchen. Corner shop a few steps away for all the essentials. Comfy bed. There is even a washing machine in the basement if you need it. Free wifi. Location was nice and quiet even on weekend nights.
They also provided a cot and high chair and the flat was very baby friendly.
Tv only had one channel working, but as we don't speak icelandic, so not really an issue. The doorbell could be more clearly marked. Flat is the ground floor window on the left of the main door.
Only slight complaint was that the prepaid taxi to the airport we had booked through Rent in Reykjavik for 4.30am didn't turn up. It was quite stressful finding another one with a baby seat to get to the airport on time, but they apologised and refunded our money so no big deal.Response from Reykjavik-Apartments - 03/11/2012

Really glad you liked the apartment and we hope you will visit again. We will mark the door bell better, something we have been meaning to do, so thanks for reminding us. It is not the first time that the taxi company has disappointed us, so we have actually stopped using their services.

This apartment was one of the highlights of our trip. Very good value for money, easy to book, a great size for 4 adults (the sofabed is huge and very comfortable), exactly as shown in the photos, very clean, well-equipped kitchen and a really fantastic location a couple of minutes from the harbour where we found some fabulous restaurants and a short walk to all the main attractions. We felt like we were staying at home. We will definitely stay here if we return to Iceland and would recommend the apartment to anyone. We are very grateful to the owners who helped us with transfers and for great recommendations for restaurants and where to celebrate new years!

We arrived at the apartment early and met the lovely Helga who made us feel right at home. The apartment is newly renovated, clean and cool with plenty of room to relax after a full day/night of activities. It is within easy walking distance to all of downtown Reykjavik and parking was a breeze. The kitchen living room where a welcome change to the usual hotel style lodging and we were able to save money by having some meals at home. We really enjoyed the feel of the apartment, it was light, clean and tastefully decorated. The only draw back is there is no bath. The apartment was a big plus in our incredible and memorable time spent in Iceland. Thank you Rent in Reykjavik!
