Really warm feeling in the house. Lots of beds for bigger group also (we were altogether 9 persons and fit fine). Location is good, takes about 5 min to center of Reykjavik, easy to find. Harbour is close so whale watching is something really worth of going.
The house owner is helpful and it is easy to organize transportations etc. with her.
Nice little backyard with small grill. Supermarket only few minutes of walking.

      Awesome experience

Left on 05/03/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We visited Iceland/Reykjavik for 8 days and were staying at the Town House for the entire trip. The House is excellent. We were 4 friends and I could see some issues if your group exclusively consists of people 1.90m+, because some of the beds will be too small then (hence "only" 4 stars for comfort). I just about fit under the shower, but it worked out, so everything was cool. The living room and kitchen are spaceous and were our #1 place to hang out, start/end a day, discuss what we are going to do or simply relax for a few hours.

There are grocery stores close by, downtown is 5-10 minutes by foot and if you rent a car, you have quite a few places to visit outside of Reykjavik. Personally, we saw the Gullfoss waterfall and the Geyseirs near that and went on a trip around the Snaefellsjökull peninsula, all while using the Town House as our base of daily operations.

There's a fully equipped kitchen with stove, fridge and coffee machine, TV, one main and one small bathroom, washing machine and dryer, a small backyard. The coast is less than 5 minutes by foot and we used it for some running workout with a beautiful view, but the wind at the time of our visit was pretty fierce, so we didn't go on too many runs.

You will definitely not regret choosing the Town House as your stay for a medium sized group. We are definitely considering to go again next year.

We recently rented the Town House for an 8 day stay in Reykjavik. We were met almost immediately upon walking up by Jenny. It was warm, cozy, modern, well lit, clean, artistic, and perfect. It was the perfect place to base our Icelandic expedition from. Oh and the shower was so awesome.

      great location

Left on 02/20/2013 for a stay in December 2012

The service that we got from the owners before and during our stay was good. Everything was well explained and well equipped.
The location of the home was excellent. The coffee machine was a hit with the group.
The main complaint we have was the size of the bathrooms. The only one shower, located in the basement, was extremely small and almost impossible to use. The larger men in our group had a very difficult time showering. I would like to see the bathrooms better sized.
The low ceilings in the basement for the bathroom, laundry room and one bedroom was quite low. All of the males had to walk bending their heads to prevent injury.
In all, the experience was quite good. We would probably look for a unit with better bathroom facilities.

Left on 10/23/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed here for 8 days during September 2012. This is the permennent home of a family who move out when the property is rented. It is a warm, cosy and well equipped property with a few limitations for 2 couples. There are 2 double bedrooms, one of which is in the basement, we preferred to push 2 single beds together in an upstairs bedroom. The bathroom is also in the basement and is incredibly small, our tallest person had trouble fitting into the shower. There is a second toilet and basin on the ground floor. The location is excellent being a short walk to the centre of Reykjavik and there are supermarkets nearby. I would recommend this property for people who prefer to self cater in a typical Reykjavik home.

Great townhouse, great location, and great people

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The Townhouse was a home for 5 days to our extended family comprising a retired couple, our daughter and her 2 children aged 9 & 10. It was just what we were looking for - spacious ,well appointed, colourful, interesting and quiet. It was within walking distance of the town centre, the local supermarket, the bread and pastry shop and the old harbour where can be found the fabulous 'lobster soup'. The only problem we had was trying to work out how to use the washing machine which turned out to be a simple fix. We used the Townhouse as a base for daily car trips to sites to and from Reykjavik. We found the Icelandic people to be very friendly and keen to assist us in every way. Our experience overall was excellent. We would like to return again and spend more time exploring this wonderful country.

This is a very nice house for a family to stay in. The location is great and within walking distance of most of the sites. The house itself is quiet, very well equipped (Wifi, DVD, full kitchen equipment, etc) and very clean. The only thing to be prepared for is a shortage of showers and toilets: there is one shower (small and in the basement) and two toilets (the shower room and a separate WC on the ground floor). Depending on the number of people, this could be a problem. Other than that, it was perfect.

There were 9 of us, including a 12, 10 and 2 1/2 and the house was so much better than a hotel. Location was excellent short walk to center city, restaurant and supermarket. Four bedrooms and hard-to-find 1&1/2 baths. Kitchen fully equipped. House had TV, washer, dryer, children's toys and agent found a stroller to use. Also arranged airport pickup and return, and superb sightseeing van and great guide. Shades enabled us to sleep in the midnight sun even if the little one insisted it wasn't "sleeping time." The laughs were our department in a fine space. Reykjavik was a great destination.

great house, perfect location, highly recommend!

Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had a group of 7, the house fit us all beautifully. Three bedrooms upstairs, one bedroom in the basement, and living space in between. Plenty of privacy for all. There was also a nice garden in the back. Had everything you need, dishwasher, cooking utensils, washer dryer, etc. House was very clean. It was perfect for our group, we ate several meals in and saved some money on restaurants. (Food is expensive in Iceland!) The wireless internet worked great in all rooms of the house.

Location is ideal. Five minute walk to bakery or several different grocery stores. Five minute walk to the old harbor where you can find tours such as whale watching, fishing, bike rides, etc. About 10 minute walk to the shopping district.

This is an ideal home for a group or two families. We highly recommend and would stay here again.

      An ideal rental

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012

6 of us had the distinct pleasure of staying here for 8 days. The house is perfect, and represented well on the site. It is close enough to town for easy walking and navigating the lovely city of Reykjavik, yet far enough away so that the lively nightlife does not disrupt! In short, it is ideal.

The kitchen is beautifully stocked - we did have a few laughs over how to use the dishwasher and washing machines that are printed in Icelandic! The wireless internet was a huge help to us all. There are 4 bedrooms - 3 upstairs, and 1 in the basement, with plenty of privacy. This home can easily accommodate 8 people, and from what I understand, two bathrooms is a luxury. The roof deck was a wonderful addition.

Jenny is an excellent communicator and helpful immediately should you need her. We had such a wonderful trip, and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

Everything was beyond expectations. The home and accomodations were ample, comfortable, and inviting. Accurate discriptions offered from rental site. Location was wonderful, very easy to navigate around while walking. Chose this place because of the double bathroom and the 6 girls who were traveling, everything worked out wonderfully. Issues within the home (internet access) were corrected that day, the homeowner came personally to fix the problem after an email. Only surprise was a cat who let himself in, however "Reykjavik" as we named him was pleasent and a welcome guest. The coffee maker was a god sent. Highly recomended home. Thanks for the great time!

Left on 03/06/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I have just returned from a stay at the Town House in Reykjavik. I stayed with my family which was made up of 6 adults and 2 kids. We all had the most amazing stay and our ages range from 10 to 80!

The house itself was perfect and perfectly located and we all felt very much at home here. It had everything you could need from kitchen utensils to towels to games. We wanted for nothing. The house itself is located only some minutes walk from the city centre, shops and the harbour.

Jenny the landlord was fantastic and herself and her colleagues brought us on two day trips which were fantastic. They tailor made them to our wishes and nothing was any trouble for them. The rates were very reasonable. All three of them were very good humoured and could answer any questions we had about the trip. They really made our holiday complete.

thanks once more to Jenny and the gang :-)

We stayed at this apt in January 2012 and we have nothing but praise for the place and its owners. Jenny was helpful and responsive to our emails asking for information and also requesting an early check-in. This was hugely helpful, as we had tired jet-lagged 11-year olds with us. The bedrooms were comfortable, the wifi worked fine, and the kitchen was especially well-equipped. We loved the espresso machine and gave it quite the workout while there!

The location was also very convenient-- a quick walk (5--10 minutes?) to the center of town, and also close to grocery stores (we cooked breakfast and dinner there). Jenny gave me tips on good places to shop for food. In addition, there was ample parking right at the house-- we were able to park in the same spot all weekend long!
I recommend renting an apt for any family going to Iceland, and this place was just perfect. Thanks, Jenny!

Great House in Downtown with 1 1/2 Baths

Left on 12/02/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This was my third trip to Iceland. Every other time, we have stayed in hotels or b&bs; around the country. This time, with our two grown sons (ages 21 & 23) and staying for a full week, we decided to rent a place. This townhouse perfectly fit the bill. It had 1 1/2 baths, which is a must if you have at least 1 female in the crowd :), was meticulously designed, and had all of the things you would expect (or hope) to find in your own home, including wi-fi, washer, dryer, cappucino machine, etc. It's located in a quiet street, an easy walk from either the heart of downtown or the wharf area. Our host met us at the house early in the morning following our arrival from the U.S. and was extremely helpful. When I go again, I hope this place is available.

      Just what we needed

Left on 10/02/2011 for a stay in July 2011

This townhouse was perfect for us.

I travelled to Reykjavik with my girlfriend, her sister and brother-in-law, and their 12-year-old twins. Jenny met us at the bus station in Reykjavik in the morning and took our suitcases for us... it was 9am, and the previous group hadn't checked out (we expected this), but Jenny was kind enough to take our bags for us, so we could go out and explore. (We ended up going to one of the public pools in Reykjavik, and soaked away the jet lag in their hot pots... highly recommended.) By the time we had breakfast and soaked for a couple of hours, it was 2pm and time to head to the townhouse.

We found the townhouse easily; it's a five-minute walk to the heart of the city, but located in a quiet neighborhood. You can see the ocean from the top-floor bedroom. The townhouse has a master bedroom upstairs, a room for the kids (bunk beds plus one more bed), and a TV room that could sleep two (though a bit tightly). The lower level has a half bath, kitchen, dining room, and living room. The basement has a full bath, washer/dryer, and a bedroom. My girlfriend and I were in the basement and it was just fine... not glamorous, perhaps, but fine for what we needed. It was nice to have the washer/dryer, but it was entirely in Icelandic and we had to guess at what the knobs meant. Eventually the washer gave us our clothes back.

Kitchen was great. We had three guests over for dinner (they were friends who happened to be in Iceland at the same time) and we all fit comfortably. There are grocery stores about five minutes away. Food is expensive in Iceland, so cooking at the townhouse is a good way to keep costs down.

The townhouse was perfect for us. The only downsides were the fact that there is only one full bath (but with separate shower and bathtub), and you might want to take a roll of toilet paper with you! We were rationing it at the end. Still, I would definitely stay here again. It was quiet and very convenient. I loved being able to brew coffee in the morning, and sit outside on the patio.

      Highly recommended

We stayed at Jenny's house for a week, and it was an excellent experience. We are a family of eight -- six adults, and two young children. The location is great -- easy walk to town, and even closer to the Old Harbor area, with whale and puffin tours, and a number of excellent restaurants. We enjoyed the Hofnin, the Sea Baron, and the Fish and Chips place. Also there are two supermarkets with close to the house. Our little ones (ages 2 & 4) loved all the toys in the play area of the living room, as well as in the kids' bedroom. Having crib plus kid height seating at the dining room table was great. As noted, the kitchen is very well equipped, and we had all our breakfasts "at home" and even made dinner two nights. The house is on three levels, with a bedroom/full bath-shower/laundry in the basement level, living area and 1/2 bath on the main floor, and three bedrooms on the top floor. The bed in one of the bedrooms is a bit tight for a couple, but we managed. The shower is pretty small, especially for tall folks, but it was fine. Although we never met Jenny, she responded promptly to all emails (the house has wi-fi) and was always extremely friendly. Speaking of which, we found all the Icelanders we met to be extremely friendly and helpful, and excellent speakers of English! We also found all the restaurants and sights we visited to be exceptionally family friendly. A terrific experience overall, although plan your budget carefully -- this is not an inexpensive destination.

Our multi-generational family of 7 selected Jenny's home from Tripadvisor reviews for a week long vacation. We travelled throughout Iceland during the days and spent wonderful evenings together in Jenny's spacious and comfortable living/family room. The 4 bedrooms were perfect for us. The kitchen was stocked with every appliance one could want (loved that coffee brewer) and a washing machine/dryer in the lower level would be a great combo for longer staying vistors. The 2 bathrooms were fine for us though a little tight as other reviewers have noted. Location/location/location... perfect for access to down town happenings, restaurants, and stores. Street parking was easy and convenience stores around the block. Jenny was a wonderful host, responding immediately to every question before and during our stay, and then being immensely helpful when one in our party suffered a debilitating migraine headache just hours before flight time. Thank you Jenny! In summary, 5 stars.

Great Reykjavik apartment, residential and quiet but close to ev

Left on 07/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed, a family of three, in Jenny's wonderful townhouse in Reykjavik. The space was of course far more than enough for our small family -- we could have had two or three more with us and felt comfortable. Very well-stocked kitchen for preparing meals -- we ate all our breakfasts and most of our suppers in the apartment, to save on money and avoid too much restaurant food.

The location just outside the Old Harbor and a short walk from downtown made us feel as if we really lived there -- the townhouse was in a residential and very quiet neighborhood, with free onstreet parking always available within a block -- and yet it was so close to everything we wanted to get to.

There aren't enough photos online: you can see the main living space very well (living room, dining room, kitchen) and the master bedroom, but there is also a great children's room with a bunk bed and an extra single bed (our daughter chose the single), and then two more smaller bedrooms, one of which we used for our luggage and one we didn't really use.

There is only one shower, so for us that was not a problem at all but for a multi-family trip might require some juggling.

it was especially convenient to have the laundry right in the house, since we were in Iceland for two weeks and didn't want to bring so many clothes. That was one of my primary considerations when searching for houses, and it didn't disappoint -- washer and dryer both worked well.

Jenny met us upon arrival (we called from the airport and she was at the apartment before us) to show us all around and teach us how to use all the appliances.

The house is full of wonderful artwork (both professional and by her children) and photographs, as well as hundreds upon hundreds of books in many languages including English. Lots of photo books of Iceland by Jenny's father, as well as the usual assortment of guidebooks, brochures, etc. Also many movies and CDs; we listened to some good music on the living room stereo. Didn't watch much Icelandic TV, though, for obvious linguistic reasons.

Beds were comfortable. We didn't always manage to get the rooms dark enough on the brightest of midsummer nights, but we slept well.

We had a car, but within Reykjavik we walked almost everywhere from the apartment -- shopping, museums, harbor -- except to a couple of far-flung areas like Perlan. We used the car mostly for day trips (and a couple of overnight trips) out of the city.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We're a group of Canadians that came to Iceland for a 4-day weekend. The house was amazing and had all the conveniences of a home away from home. It's extremely spacious and there's plenty of entertainment. There are a few televisions, Dvds, a PS3, fast Wifi, and a few speakers that allow you to hook up a portable music player like an iPod. There are plenty of books as well, not that we spent that much time reading as the house is so close to downtown! The kitchen is fully equipped (great espresso machine), and allows you to cook some of your meals at home. The grocery store is about a 2 minute walk away. The house is about a 10 minute walk to downtown Reykjavik and is also very close to the ocean. There are two bathrooms, but only one shower. If you are travelling with many people that could be an issue. Aside from that, the house is truly outstanding.

The kitchen/living room is so roomy and comfortable. As for sleeping arrangements there were more than enough beds. There is only one bathroom with shower/bath facilities, but even for 6 adults we had no issues.

Left on 10/27/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Having stayed up the coast for the first week of our holiday, we based our second week in Reykjavik, and travelled out on various day-trips. The location of the house was brillant.Walking distance to the centre, 5 minutes to the nearest supermarket, convenient for the main routes out of Reykjavik by road. The house had plenty of room for 7 of us (2 doubles and 3 in singles), and we stayed in most nights, cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and eating at the dinner table. The house really was a home from home, with everything we needed. It was full of character, and felt very personal and comfortable. Jenny made everything really easy to sort out, offered her help or advice for anything we needed, and kept in touch. The Wifi was really handy as well, as we could look up sights to see and routes to follow, and weather reports. A real find. I would thoroughly recommend the house to anyone.

      Just like home, only away

Left on 10/27/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Jenny was always available for questions and advice, she was there to greet us and was able to procure a taxi, a rental car and some serious excursions. By all means do the Golden Circle, Dive Is snorkeling and Laxnes horse ride! The apartment was perfect for our extended family, parents on the bottom floor, teens in two rooms and husband and myself in another upstairs. We were able to relax in the mornings assisted by the incredible coffee machine, nice kitchen and ample sitting room. Town was an easy walk for us but my seventyish parents had to cab it for dinners. We didn't mind the not so sunny weather because we became quite comfortable with the town. Hope to return in the summer!

Brilliant house, brilliant location and great value. It really was everything we hoped for. Is a short walk from the city centre, so no taxi is needed to get in and out. Also near some great restaurants and a local shop for milk and bread. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

      Great place for a group!

Left on 09/28/2010 for a stay in September 2010

Stayed here with a group of friends and it was a perfect base to explore Reykjavik and Iceland. Communication and supprt from Jenni prior to arrival was great.

The house is a short walk into the centre and a safe distance from the noise of weekend revellers. It is lovely and well equipped (for cooking, entertainment, relaxing etc).

I would definitely recommend for a group of 6 or more.

      Felt like home!

This bright, spacious home was very comfortable and family-friendly. Jenny was there to greet us when we arrived and was available to us throughout our stay with just a simple phone call or e-mail, to which she responded immediately. The location was perfect -- on a quiet residential corner just a short walk away from the harbor in one direction and the center of town in another. Our family of four, including a 9-year-old and a 14-year-old, was joined by a family of three, including a 19-year-old, and everyone had plenty of room. The only challenge was that our group of seven was sharing one shower -- just a minor inconvenience that was easy to work around once we figured out the scheduling logistics. All in all, this charming house was a fabulous value, and we look forward to staying in it again on our next trip to Iceland.

      One of our Best Holidays

Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in July 2009

This has to be said was one of the most memorable holidays for the family. The house in Reykjavík was perfectly located within walking distant to the Center as well as the Port. The large and well equiped open planned kitchen was perfect for a large family. The owner was really nice and friendly. Would recommend this to anyone.

Pleasant stay with teenagers in Reykjvik townhouse.

Left on 08/24/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We were very pleased with this spacious rental home. Our three young teenagers enjoyed their downtime between tours in the basement bedroom, which was furnished with a couch, bed, video games and iPod docking station. The homeowners were very generous about leaving a full range of appliances and gadgets at our disposal. We enjoyed the nicely furnished first floor, which boasted comfortable seating, a large dining table and large kitchen with modern appliances. The house was ideally located, being a short walk from the ocean and many of the popular downtown restaurants. We would recommend this home to others.

Left on 07/26/2010 for a stay in July 2010

I was travelling with my elderly parents, siblings and nieces - 6 adults and 2 children.
The house was big enough to accomodate us all comfortably and I was advised by the owner that it would be suitable for my parents as it had a downstairs bedroom and bathroom.
The location was good, close enough to the centre of Reykjavik for my parents to walk.
It was well equipped, with a great kitchen as we did a lot of cooking. The only thing that we felt we could have used was more lounge seating, but we managed anyway.
The owner was very helpful during the booking process and beyond and I will certainly recommend it to my friends and would happily book again.

      Iceland adventure

Left on 07/08/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Two families, two countries, 8 people...thinking of visiting Iceland but not sure how to go about it until we were given Jenny's email. Suddenly everything fell into place. She had a wonderful house for us to rent that would fit all 8 of us. The location was perfect, a nice quiet street but within a few minutes walk to downtown Reykjavik and a great grocery store. The house was wonderful, lots of amenities, we felt right at home. Then it gets better, Jenny arranged for three of the most amazing tours, one of them guided by her brother in which we walked on a glacier, I would highly recommend this one. Did I mention she picked both families up at the bus station and then made the arrangements for us to go to the Blue Lagoon on our way home. A truly wonderful vacation, Jenny's great house, being in such a wonderful city, and three fabulous tours of Iceland. Jenny is the best, a great resource for her country.

      Girly Weekend - catching up

Left on 06/21/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Jenny picked us up at the station - which was greatly appreciated - so hence the top marks for check-in. The fact that we had a patio and the large livingroom/kitchen area was great. Good location for walking into town and getting supplies. 3 girls shared the house - we were not aware that there was a fourth bedroom, as that would have made out stay really good value - perhaps a little more information on the web description would be good?

Had a wonderful time in Icelnad. Jenny was fantastic at organising everything for us, and making it a totally enjoyable trip. A taxi was arranged for us to pick us up at the airport at our request. The house was lovely and ready when we arrived. We had arranged a trip through Jenny, which was excellent, there was 8 of us, and we had our own mini bus. The couple who did the tour were fantastic.

I cant rate the experience enough.

Left on 01/17/2010 for a stay in October 2009

A modern, well - appointed house right in the centre of downtown Reykjavik. It was exceptionally convenient for shops, bars and nightlife, but still managed to be an oasis of calm. It easily accommodated a family of 4 and the modern conveniences put ours to shame! Ms. Sigurgeirsdottir, the owner succeeded in providing a superlative service, which turned a pleasant vacation into the most wonderfully relaxing and enjoyble holiday that we have taken in over a decade.
