AlbuquerqueExcellent travel experience and outstanding accommodations
Left on 05/01/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Iceland was an excellent place to visit with exceptional experiences waiting for the adventure or leisure traveller! We visited for a week and had a great time. We were quite please with this apartment in central Reykjavik. We mainly went on daytrips and returned to the city each evening. It was reasonably priced, very spacious, in a quiet residential area with very quick walking access to local restaurants and an easy 5 minute walk to downtown and the old harbor. Arranging accommodation with Jonas was straightforward and easy, the electronic door lock with the preset code was a nice feature to streamline the arrival process. We would definitely stay again and recommend these accommodations to our friends.

We (two adults) stayed at Laufvesgar 58, Apt 1 the last two weeks of March 2013. The location is perfect -- close enough to walk everywhere easily(including the Flybus drop off at the BSI Bus Terminal and an amazingly good bakery) but far enough from shopping/restaurants/bars so it's quiet at night. The apartment is clean, modern, and had everything we could possibly need including an adapter. Jonas Olafsson was terrific to work with via email, and after we arrived he greeted us warmly. During our 10-day visit he graciously continued to answer every question we could think of. As our trip came to an end, we threatened to stay permanently. I've traveled every year over the last 30 years, and this is by far the best experience I've had. I can't wait to go back.

Reston, VABeautifully appointed modern apartment in downtown Reykjavik
Left on 03/21/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We had an amazing time in Reykjavik, and our downtown apartment was one of the many reasons. It is extremely clean; had all the amenities we could have wanted, including a full kitchen; and it is located on a quiet street, a very short (and pleasant) walk from Hallgrímskirkja and the main shopping streets or the pond and the many restaurants near the harbor. We had a rental car and there was always parking available in front of the apartment and it was easy to access the main highways.
Perfect stay for couples! Able to come and go as you please; like home away from home. And of course we can't say enough about the owner, Jonas. He was very kind and extremely accommodating to our needs. He even gave us advice for where to travel around Iceland and created a great map and guide with insider tips!
Go to Reykjavík and stay at this apartment! You will love it. -

Left on 03/14/2013 for a stay in February 2013
My boyfriend and I stayed in this building (the apartment on the ground floor) for a 9 night stay in February 2013. We were meant to be staying at a smaller apartment advertised but he upgraded us at no charge :) What an amazing place! Clean, contemporary, spacious and well stocked with everything you could possibly need for your trip.
Jonas was particularly accommodating. He let us know the code for the door one week before our stay, answered lots of our questions, and came to the apartment at a time that was convenient for us for payment. On a quiet street. I felt very safe in general in Reykjavik. Very central location, only a 5-10 minute walk into town, the main street for restaurants / bars and nearby supermarkets. Fabulous shower and bathroom, huge comfy bed. We even saw the northern lights from the balcony one evening over Reykjavik. Fantastic!
Can't recommend enough! Thanks Jonas for a trip of a lifetime! :) -

This apartment has everything you need, very comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, TV and DVD player. There is plenty of storage space and the bathroom is well equipped. Lots of towels were supplied and a good quality hairdryer. It's lovely and warm which was so nice to come back to after a cold day. The neighbourhood is quiet but you are in the main street within 10 minutes. It is conveniently close to the bus station, a bonus if you have an early return flight like we did.
There's lots of information in the apartment about bars, restaurants, supermarkets and we found the owners very helpful. -

My boyfriend and I stayed at this rental dec 27-jan 4. It's everything we hoped for. Great location, we walked all over the city and were picked up at the bus station for any excursions. It was exceptionally a good location for the New Years fireworks, and going to the bars. The apartment is very nice and comfortable. We really liked how easy it was to check in and come an go as we pleased. I would recommend this to anyone staying to Reykjavik. If we ever find ourselves in Iceland again I will definitely rent from Jonas again.

As the airwaves music festival was on we were having trouble finding a nice apartment for a reasonable price but were not disappointed with this find!
The flat is very modern, well designed and was nice and warm at all times during our stay. In the cold and windy weather it was a treat to get home to this toasty flat.
Jonas was a great host - coming to our aid when we locked ourselves out of the safe and also when we requested extra towels.
The flat has everything you might need, a great power shower, comfy bed and dvd's to watch if you stay in. It is in a very quiet and safe area, as two girls together we were never worried about our safety walking at night.
It is five minutes walk from the main bus station from the airport (even with heavy bags) and a 5-10 min walk from central Reykjavik.
This is a great flat and great value - you should stop looking and book this now. Will be recommending to friends. -

Very modern, clean, spacious. It was perfect for us and our 2-year old. Travel crib included. Kitchen is very well stocked with the appropriate cookware/dishes. Good location, parking not an issue. It might be close enough for a good stroll to the grocery store, but it was too cold for us to be outside that long. Highly recommend!

I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Reykjavik, Iceland! 5 stars!!!
It's a beautiful and quiet property located in the city center (10 minute walk to main shopping street), and is only a 5 minute walk from the BSI Bus Terminal. It's clean, spacious, and cozy with a bed you could just melt into and never get out of:)
I'd also like to add that after I saw this property I couldn't believe how reasonable priced it was. It's really a luxury property without a luxury price. We also saved a ton of money by cooking most of our meals (eating out in Iceland is expensive) and the fully equipped kitchen meant that we only had to buy our food --- all other kitchen supplies (pots, pans, cutlery, plates, glasses, etc...) were provided.
I just can't say enough about this apartment!!! My husband and I both loved it!!!:)
Thanks Jonas!!!:)

And this is exactly how we felt staying in Jonas Olofsson vacation apartment for the 8 days we were in Reykjavik. We arrived at midnight and had no problem getting in the apt. Jonas had Emailed me the entry code a few days before we arrived. The apt was even nicer then the pictures posted showed, with a very comfortable balcony in the front and a Juliet balcony off the bedroom overlooking the garden. It was so nice having a fully equipped Kitchen stocked with coffee and some food items to get us started in the morning, without having to get dressed to find a place for breakfast before I had my first cup of coffee. I wanted to bring the bed home with me as it was so comfortable, and the bedding so lush. Towards the end of my stay I was wondering if I could stay and rent the apt from Jonas full time as I felt I could live in it forever. The bathroom was so very High End with a shower most people would die for, the hot water flowed nonstop( I think you would have to bring your pillow in there and take a nap before you would run out of hot water). Having the washer and dryer right in the apt ment I could have brought half the clothing I did bring, but I could have brought double the amount with all the storage in the bedroom. We had 5 good size suite cases with us and unpacked them all and had room to spare. The living Room was so very comfortable and well decorated.
The neighborhood is one of the best in Reykjavik with beautiful family homes surrounding the apt. I will never stay in a Hotel again, the comfort of staying in an apt while traveling is the best. Did I mention the Password protected wifi Jonas provided was as fast as my home internet connection. There is no doubt of where I will stay on my next visit, if it happens to be booked I would change my vacation dates to assure myself of having my Reykjavik home. There's no place like (Jonas's) home! -

My husband and I stayed here for two weeks while on our honeymoon in Iceland. I cannot say enough good things about this apartment. We were so comfortable as the apartment is fully equipped with everything we may have wanted / needed during our stay - it truly was a home away from home! We stayed at apartment #1 - it was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable!! I love staying at guesthouses and apartments while abroad because you get more amenities than you would at a hotel but for half the price!
The location is great - on a quiet street but a short walk to the main shopping area and to the BSI terminal.
The service we received from Jonas was outstanding - he is quick to reply to emails and offered us tips on where to visit during our stay in Iceland, as well as he gave us the name for a car hire company at the airport (Geysir Car Rentals - which I highly recommend!!). Flying in from Toronto, Jonas gave us early check-in at no extra charge and arranged for a taxi to pick us up which was great!! If you are staying in Reykjavik I highly recommend staying at one of Jonas' apartments - you will not be disappointed!! -

This is a perfect accommodation for a stay in Reykjavik. It is located very close to the centre and easy to find. We did not see the need to hire a car as there is so much to see in Reykjavik or can be reach via bus. All excursions we booked offered pick up and drop off a few metres from the property.
The apartement itself exceeded our expectations. Not only did we find everything as described, here much more was available that you usally won't find in a rented accommodation like salt, sugar, oil and much more.
Wireless Internet, TV and a usefull "manual" where to go and where to eat ;-) very nice!
Complete with a washer/dryer, the bathroom has a large tub with shower. The owners even provided shower gel and lotions etc. Plenty of extra towels and sheets if needed.
All in all, this was a great choice for us. After having rented an apartment like this with all the comforts of home, I couldn't imagine getting a hotel room for twice the price and half the amenities. If you're considering this apartment as an option for your stay in Reykjavik, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

My wife and I stayed here for 8 days and we had an amazing time. The apartment is in a great neighborhood that was very quiet. It was also perfectly located as it was a 5 minute walk to the BSI bus terminal, which was great when we landed, left, and for several bus trips. There is free parking on the same street that was always available as well so when we rented a car to head out a couple of days it was great to get back and not have to worry about parking. The apartment itself is very nice and comfortable. The shower and bed are much better than 99% of the hotels I've stayed at. The kitchen was fully stocked and Jonas was nice enough to have it semi-stocked with some items, which was great as we arrived at 6:45am to just get there and not have to worry about what to eat that day for breakfast. We were also just about a 10 minute walk to the main streets and old harbour area. Highly recommend this place!! Amazing!!!

It is hard to say what stands out about our stay in this perfect accommodation. One of our favorite afternoon winding-down activities was to watch the little boy across the street playing viking with a shield and a stick-sword. This above all is a friendly neighborhood, just steps from all the tourist or night activity you could want.
The decor rivals anything you would expect at the Blue Lagoon VIP. Our host, Jonas, made sure there were plenty of Dvds for our late night viewing, seasonings for cooking, and scrumptious duvets. We could not get enough of the shower, and the oh so slightly heated floors.mmm
It is 6 short blocks downhill from Hallgrimskirkja, and no more than a 5 or 10 minute walk from anywhere you could want to be in town. -

Stayed in 58-1 Laufasvegur and it was perfect. Great location, i.e. near the Flybus station, the center, Laugavegur, harbor - everything - but in a quiet residential neighborhood. Apartment was spotlessly clean, bright, spacious, and wonderfully decorated- modern but cozy. Excellent bed and linens. High quality towels, rain shower plus a handheld. It had a full kitchen with everything needed to self-cater. The living room had comfortable furniture, a huge TV and DVD player and a stack of good films. Jonas was helpful, friendly, and easy going. Really, you can stop looking for a place to stay in Reyjkavik if this apartment is available.

We had a wonderful experience in Jonas's apartment! Our family of 4 (children 8 and 9) had plenty of space in this extremely well-appointed apartment. It is in a lovely quiet neighborhood but within easy walking distance of all of the major sights in Reykjavik. We particularly enjoyed being close to the pond and having such a lovely place to rest after long days of sight-seeing. Jonas is so friendly, accommodating, and easy-going... we can't wait to visit again!

Excellent location for either walking into the city or for car travel outside. Exceptionally well appointed and very comfortable. Walking into the town takes no more than 10 minutes. The tour of the Opera house is interesting just walking around the opera house is a must. Harry’s which again is not too far from the flat, basically head for the main road ( Neste 1 garage, turn right then go along 2 streets and turn left, it’s next to the Gt Western Hotel. Food is excellent and well priced for Iceland, the Viking beer about £4 a pint is very nice. We used a hire company recommended by Jonas and apart from a little walk in the rain from the airport to the office the service was very good as was he car and cheaper than others. At this time of year expect pavements to be icy ( slippery) in places so shoes with good grip reccomended. Some smaller roads were snowy but with a 4x4 and some common sense re speed no major hassle. Beware putting Pingvillir in the sat nav you could end up miles away from your destination, Use a map and trust the road signs that say Pingvillir. Or perhaps better still put in Gulfoss.. Flat can be very hot so you may need to turn the heating down on arrival. Free wifi
The water in in Reykjavik has a very slight taint of Sulphur but I guess that is not too surprising, it's not a major issue.
We visited the Blue Lagoon on our way back to the airport, it's a nice location but perhaps overpriced for what is on offer. The locals use a pool in Reykjavik, so it might be worth asking Jonas on your arrival, we believe it is also cheaper.
In Iceland debit or credit cards are widely used, in fact Fuel is paid for at the pumps both in and very much outside the city so make sure that you have one with you. Get the hire company to program the apartment address into the sat nab, it makes life much easier at the start of you vacation. Apartment is key coded so a quick phone call to Jonas if you haven't been given the number beforehand or you forget it's very easy. For us 2 days in the city was enough. A stay here is highly recommended it is very modern, luxurious and comfortable. -

Spacious, clean apartment that was stylishly decorated. Beautiful bathroom and shower. Close to the main city centre. The owner Jonas was attentive and nothing was too much trouble even coming out on New Years Eve because the safe had malfunctioned. I was in Reykjavik for work for 6 weeks and there were lots of little touches that made my stay there so much better than a hotel. The bedroom is a decent size and there is a sofa bed in the lounge. As the apartment is so spacious it was not a squeeze to have it extended as a bed (my sister stayed for New Year) so I can easily say that this apartment can sleep 4.
A wonderful apartment complimenting a great stay in Iceland. -

Service was very friendly and helpful, yet we had more privacy than in a normal hotel. Location was excellent because the bus terminal was near and the city centre was just a few minutes walk away. The residential area is also quite nice (British and american Embassies are in the neigbourhood).
The apartment is well equipped: you can cook there if you don't want to eat out every day or you can do the laundry if necessary. The furniture seemed to be of a high quality too. So it was very pleasant to stay in the apartment. -

From the first email contact, throughout the duration of my stay the owner displayed a level of sincere friendship that is unique, and heartwarming. Every wish of mine was so graciously and generously met, way beyond description. This outstanding person is a living example of the heights of refinement an individual can attain. And is indeed enviable. The location is the perfect balance of close proximity to the down town epicenter, yet just out of the acoustic range of the partying. The upscale neighborhood is the choice location of prestigious residents and social elite. In walking distance is one of the cities many hot thermal pools, something no visitor should consider missing.
Furnished tastefully, the modern high class infrastructure, is complemented with a full range of kitchen facilities, which leaves out nothing that I missed.
The totality of the experience I had would pose a serious challenge to compete with!!!

This is an extremely nice property in a very good location. It's in an upscale neighborhood, directly across the street from a private preschool/kindergarten (which is great if you have small children - you can use the playground and introduce your child(ren) to Icelandic children), and just up from several embassies and upscale homes. There is a small yard in the back. You can check in early if you arrive from North america, at no extra charge. And you can park directly in front of the apartment.
It's a short walk down to the pond (Tjornin) and downtown, and it's near the main bus station and a 24-hour gas station. Reykjavik's main highway is about 2 minutes away, and Kringlan (a central
shopping mall) is about a 5-10 minute drive.
The apartments (there are 2, the "red” and the "brown,” named after
their dominant interior colors) are both completely remodeled first-floor units, done in sleek Scandinavian style, with bright, high-quality modern fixtures and appliances.
The bathrooms are particularly gorgeous. The red apartment is the smaller, but slightly fancier of the two, but it has an odd step-down right in the middle (not a complaint - just a warning for those with mobility issues). The brown apartment is more suitable for a small family. The owner's agent is very attentive and answers calls and e-mails promptly and cheerfully.
The rate offered was very good, especially compared to Reykjavik's downtown hotels, and it was better than most other smaller apartments that were in lesser locations. This will be my home base for future visits to Reykjavik.

The location is perfect, too - a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes away from the city center and with free parking around the house. High end kitchen and bathroom fittings, latest entertainment systems, ample living room space, large bedroom with high quality linens and a very ,very comfortable bed. There is a sofa bed too so the apartment could easily sleep 4. Situated in a lovely residential area, it was a pleasant 5 minute walk to city center and yet far enough away, to ensure quiet nights. The owner, Jonas, is such a pleasant man and very helpful. He takes pride in his lovely place and wants to really ensure you enjoy your stay there. It will certainly be my home away from home for future stays in Reykjavik.

It's rare that an accommodation exceeds expectations, or for that matter, lives up to the online listing, but this apartment was exemplary in every way. It was clean, bright, beautifully appointed and furnished, and so much nicer than many of the hotels we looked into when planning our trip.
The location is perfect--within short walking distance to pretty much anything Reykjavik has to offer, as well as public transportation. The main bus terminal is two minutes away, and most tours embark from there, though we found many tour companies would pick us up from our front door or the guest house one block away. It's also perfect if you rent a car (though not necessary) as there's plenty of street parking nearby, as well as easy access to the main roads to get out and see the sights, so getting around is a breeze. Plus its away from the noise of the weekend pub crawl, so its its not only accessible, but quiet as well!
It has a fully functional kitchen with everything we needed to make our own meals (which we did quite a few times). The apartment even had a few snacks and beverages for us when we arrived. And there are stores nearby to stock up on groceries in need be.
The owner, Jonás, was a wonderful host and very attentive to anything we needed. He was also helpful in getting us a great deal on a rental car and airport pickup. Having such a wonderful home-base made for one of the best vacations my wife and I have ever had. -

Our stay was an unforgettable one, when we first arrived the owner Jonas was there to greet us. Jonas is a fantastic owner, a lovely guy who was always at the other end of the phone to answer any questions we had during our stay.
The quality of the apartment is second to none, extremely well kept with stylish fittings and a very comfy bed. The added little details from detergents for the washing machine to tea and coffee and ladies toiletries which were all provided, made it a home away from home.
The location of the apartment is ideal just a 10minute walk to the main street in Reykjavik being close enough to easily get to bars and restaurants, but far enough away to get a peaceful nights sleep. A beautiful walk along the Tjörnin lake takes you into town. Whats more the main BSI bus terminal is located just a 2minute walk behind the apartment, making it easily accessible to get to from the airport, and to take any bus excursions during your stay.
I cannot say enough good things about the apartment and service we received during our stay. We would most definitely recommend this apartment and plan to stay here every time we come to Iceland!! Thank you for a wonderful stay Jonas. -

I randomly came across this apartment listing while searching for a place to stay in Iceland, and I am so glad that I did. This apartment was everything we were looking for~centrally located in the city, just a few short blocks away from countless shops, restaurants and bars, but so quiet at night that you could hear a pin drop. Clean as a whistle. We loved the modern furnishings and the layout of the apartment is great, very spacious. Bed is so comfortable, and the blackout shades for the windows are a big help. Jonas and Valdis were so helpful in securing our first night stay at a local hotel since the apartment wasnt available for our first night, and Jonas picked up up from the hotel and took us to the apartment to help us get settled. Each day spent in Iceland, I was so happy to return to this apartment~it felt just like home to us. I hope to return to Iceland one day and will definately seek this place out again!

Jonas answered all emails in a timely manner prior to us booking the apartment. He arranged transportation to and from the airport and arrived exactly on time. We had two minor requests once we arrived at the apartment (missing a frying pan and the TV channels not working properly). Jonas had a new frying pan delivered within hours and had a TV technician there within hours and the problem was resloved in five minutes. The location of the apartment was within a 10 minute walk to downtown. It was very clean, modern, and included wireless Internet. Jonas delivered on everything that was advertised and was very gracious and helpful, including recommending a car rental agency that was cost effective and accommadating. If and when we ever visit Iceland again, we intend to rent the apartment again.

We absolutely loved the apartment. The apartment was perfectly situated on a quiet street within an easy walking distance of downtown Reykjavik. The apartment owner was very helpful to us and was extremely friendly. The apartment itself was gorgeous - it had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, even with 2 small children. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Reykjavik.

Travelling with a group to Iceland, we broke away and hired this place on our own. The group had immediate jealousy...we clearly had the best deal in town. Their 5 star hotel room did not compare to Jonas and his apartment.
Actually, we congratulated ourselves daily on being able to find such an amazing place in town. The place is immaculate, the facilities are amazing, it's warm, beautiful, dark (for that 24hr light), quiet and close to everything.
Stop right here and book. Trust us. We will be spreading the word about this one. If only we could have stayed longer than 5 days... -

The apartment is beautifully furnished, with everything you need for a business or holiday stay. The separate sitting room and dining area is great, a spacious bedroom with hugely comfortable bed and great linen, and a lovely bathroom/wetroom with great power shower and plenty of hot water on tap. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would definitely come back.

Very lovely and modern one bedroom apartment. Was designed with a modern touch and chic style. Traveling with two young children was very easy in this apartment. The owners had a crib set up for us as well as bed linens for the fold-out couch in the living area. There was even a dishwasher! The owners supplied all the necessities... shampoo, soap, hairdryer, safe, laundry soap, dish soap, coffee, cereal, milk, yogurt, vacuum, free wifi, two flat-screen t.v.s, plenty of new dvds to watch, kids' book, all dishes with pots and pans, a mini guidebook of Reykjavik, radio, etc. The owners were extremely helpful with any and all of our questions about Reykjavik. They picked us up at the airport and drove us straight to the apartment. They even helped us rent a car and delivered it right to our front doorstep! So we didn't have to hunt for car rental stores or negotiate a price or even figure out how to pick up the car! They even returned it for us! Especially with kids this was a huge help. They suggested eateries and places to dine and answered all of our many questions. They also drove us back to the airport. We had such a phenomenal time and the apartment was absolutely comfortable and decorated so modern and was impeccably clean. The only reason the location was 4 star was because the only location that would be better would perhaps be a hotel that was directly above one of the downtown streets but for us that would have been too noisy with children so we were happy to have the 10-minute walk to the city center. Plus it helped us burn off all the calories from that delicious Icelandic butter!

I travel extensively for business and therefore frequent far too many hotels in my opinion. This apartment was a pleasant break from the impersonal hotel experience. The furnishings were modern and beautiful and I had the luxury of all the amenities that I required - even a personalized breakfast. My only regret was that the stay was only for one night. Thanks to Jonas for the great Icelandic hospitality shown.

Having been to Iceland a couple of times in the past year on business, I decided to break the tradition of staying in a hotel and go with an apartment...and what a good chioce it turned out to be. I will never stay in a hotel again.
The apartment was immaculate, with all the facilities any business or even leisure traveller would ever need. It's central location was perfect and meant that I could eat out or walk and buy food to cook back at the apartment. It should be noted that whilst it was a central location, there was no road noise or noise from anyone walking past late at night.
I will be going back and would strongly recommend the facilities to my colleagues. -

LondonExcellent rental in great location
Left on 02/13/2011 for a stay in December 2010
I lived in the apartment from mid-December 2010 to end of January 2011, whilst working temporarily in Reykjavik. The apartment was chosen by and paid for by my employer. I could not have asked for better accommodation situated in a better location. The owners were very responsive to my requests for any help or for further items, which really helped to make my stay even more comfortable. All in all, I would have no hesitation recommending this rental to a friend or to a local/foreign professional wanting to base themselves in Reykjavik.

The appartments are fully loaded with all modern equipments plus Sky Television and relevant local channels incl. business and sports channels. Great location, in the city center of Reykjavik, short trip to business districts and restaurants. Walking distance to central bus station for airport shuttles. Extremely nice beds and shower room. My stay was just great and will certainly book this next time I travel to Reykjavik.

I have been to Iceland many times and this is without doubt the best place I have ever stayed. Situated in a perfect location in the heart of Rekjavik, this is an apartment created with a designers eye. Beautiful. We absolutely loved it.
