Sleeping two people in one bedroom, this first floor property is in the heart of Richmond. 5-7 Bargate is a cosy first floor property in Richmond. The cottage has a king-size double bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen and sitting room with dining area and open fire. Outside is a shared garden and patio area, and parking can be found on the roadside around 100 yards away. 5-7 Bargate is ideally placed for the amenities of Richmond including the castle and market, and riverside walks along the River Swale.

Amenities: Gas central heating (controls in owners' property) with open fire in sitting room. 2-ring electric hob, combination microwave ove...n, fridge/freezer, TV with basic Sky, DVD, CD/radio, selection of books and games. Fuel, power and starter pack for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Small garden and patio area with furniture. Ample on road parking 100 to 200 yards away. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shops and pubs 3 mins walk. Note: Cottage is accessed via an external stone-built staircase to the first floor accommodation which is level with the rear garden. Note: No infants or children.

Town: The ancient market town of Richmond is situated at the entrance to Swaledale, a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. With a maze of cobbled streets and narrow alleys – or 'wynds' – this town has over nine centuries of history. Growing up around the castle - a Norman fortress dating back to 1071 – Richmond literally means 'strong hill' and is derived from the Old English 'Riche-mont'. The River Swale runs through the town itself and provides not only lovely walks, but also safe paddling areas and the occasional small waterfall. Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  The property was very accessible to both the town of Richmond itself and the whole of the dales. The cottage was cosy and well kept- complete with adequate fuel (logs, coal etc) had we needed it. The owner was very helpful and friendly without being too intrusive and we had glorious weather!
