La Favilletta is a perfect place to relax in the nature and to visit all beautiful places of toscany.
With 8 adults and 9 children we stayed here, the adults enjoyed the different terraces and the children of course the swimming pool.
Bernardo is a very nice host, when we arrived he left fresh vegetables from the garden and he gave many good tips for trips en festivals nearby.

Tuscany straight out of a film set

Left on 11/09/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We stayed here 3 weeks Sep/1 week Oct to mark our 25th wedding anniversary. We were joined by friends and our adult offspring at different points. We loved the place and it proved ideal for relaxing, as a touring base and as a drop in point for guests.

      Best bits:
      * Vista to die for
      * Weather was a sunny 28' once a spectacular thunderstorm had cleared the 35' of week 1
      * Location was handy for trips to Florence (30 mins), Lucca, Sienna, Pisa (all between 1-2 hours) and even Rome (about 2.5 hours)
      * Accommodation was basic but spacious, comfortable and well appointed
      * Beautiful remote setting only 15 mins from Pontassieve with a great supermarket, station to Florence and decent restaurants locally
      * Loads of wildlife. We saw wild boar, deer, hares, rabbits and many species of birds
      * Bernardo was a great host; friendly and relaxed but always there if you needed him

      What could have been better:
      * The last 1km of "road" is simply a rocky track.
      * Hunting is rife so you need to get accustomed to armed strangers regularly passing through your garden. They were friendly enough but barking dogs could be an overnight problem and shotgun alarms from 6:30a.m. were common.
      * No air conditioning so windows need to be left open even in Sept (hence the annoyance with dog barking). This also meant mosquito control was necessary altho the windows have mesh and the apartment had plenty of plug-in repellents.
      * Pool shuts mid Sept altho weather was fine for bathing right up until early Oct.
      * The 4 bedroom apartment does not have a terrace overlooking the valley leaving you envious of the spectacular sun terraces attached to the 2 smaller apartments.

      Tips:
Make sure your car has decent clearance underneath - we had to decant passengers to get over the worst humps and I changed car after 1 week
Take a sat-nav of some sort. The farmhouse is tricky to find and as for Italian road signage...
This place isn't for everyone. For others it will be paradise.

      Dear Ian,
thanks a lot for all you kind words, i'm happy you have had a good holiday to celebrate your anniversary.

I just want to integrate your review with some information useful for others voyagers:

      - For what concern the hunting there is a season in wich the hunt is open, particluarly from 18 september to 30 jenuary and for 3 days a week.

      - me and other owners of the surrounding, we are making works on an annual basis for improve the conditions of the road that effectively is not in good shape (but there are many people that use it everyday with normal cars). I hope it will be better next year.
Of course a car with clearence underneath is everytime better for country roads.

As far as i'm concerned there are many people all over the world that comes and that return, so i guess our house can be a place almost for anyone :-)

Thanks again and be back in Tuscany soon!!

      Best regards

      Bernardo Dionisio

      Wonderful villa - beautiful Tuscany

Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We two families (four to seven persons depending of the day) stayed in the villa almost two weeks in June-July. The rustic house and the apartment were absolutely great. We also enjoyed the peaceful surroundings very much, and the Tuscany landscape around was very beautiful. The host, Bernardo, was very friendly and helpful. We just loved our stay and would like to give a revisit some day.

We had the chance my family and I to spend a full week at La Favilletta. Everything indicated on the website is exact and I would say you get even more. If you are looking for a true Toscane experience in a very beautifull scenery, this house is perfect. The house (I believe more than 300 years old) has a a real soul, through the old furnitures, the brick walls you feel it while having the comfort and commodity to facilitate your stay. We brought full of memories from our stay and thanks to Bernardo for ensuring we had everything we need.

Ww loved staying in a Tuscan farmhouse with stunning views over

Left on 06/05/2011 for a stay in May 2011

The house was ready and clean and welcoming on our arrival. Bernardo was there to answer questions and make us welcome. All amenities were there with a very well-equipped kitchen, good modern bathrooms and comfortable living areas. Outdoor eating areas were available with views forever. Our weather was perfect day after day. We did regret very much that the pool does not open until June 1st, just after we left. It would have been nice to have a hair dryer provided. The long laneway in to La Faviletta is a very bumpy road and must be taken extremely slowly. Allow time to get a bit lost in finding the place. It's not easy. But the destination was well worth it in in our estimation.

A large comfortable converted farmhouse with plenty of space for everybody.
Superb 360 degree panoramic views from house and garden, with small pool to cool off in.Nearby train service to Florence, & close to deli and supermarket.
We found the kitchen a bit small for those of us who like to cater for ourselves, but hard to beat for sheer impact on

you're right, the train is very comfortable and now there are even more courses to Florence.
A car is very important, but maybe for a week is possible to do without taking bus or train.
