R House is located at the end of the road on a quiet street in front of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve. We enjoy spectacular sunsets with our west facing view as we gaze out to Desecheo Island. The neighborhood is quiet and serene. Our landscaping will make you think you're living in paradise for the time spent here.
There are a number of excellent restaurant and bar options within walking distance from the house, as well as all the tourist activities as well such as scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, sailing options and of course surfing.

A fantastic rental with everything that you could possible want/need for your vacation. Location was perfect: lovely beach outside, restaurants and activities not far away. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, fresh herbs were available, and allison provided lots of information on what to do in Rincon. Despite our vacation overlapping with theirs, they were still available via phone whenever we needed their help with anything. Overall, our favorite part of our Puerto Rico vacation by far.

The location of this house couldn't be better. Quiet beach right out our door with snorkeling. Walking distance to restaurants and a very short drive to all kinds of attractions. My grown son and daughter came with us and loved the surfing and great sight seeing. We enjoyed the town festival on the weekend. You need to bring absolutely nothing. Leon and allison provide everything and are so friendly and laid back. Their dog, Miss Snickerdoodle Bruiser kept us company and was a welcome addition. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was priceless. We truly did not want to leave.

My husband and I stayed at R House for four nights in December and it was our very own slice of paradise. We splurged on this place to make this trip extra special because it was our fifth anniversary/honeymoon we never had trip. I was very pleased with the result. Our Rincon stay was R House was beautiful, peaceful and fun. Ali was a wonderful hostess, helping us with any needs we had, but not being intrusive on our vacation. You'll have the first floor all to yourselves. We worried about noise from the Richtors or the neigbors, but overall it was pretty quiet. The lull of the ocean is wonderful and kept us snuggled in bed on more than one morning! The hammock was a great place to lay and watch the sunset through the garden or listen to the singing of the Coqui. The garden was breathtaking! We also loved having Snickers around since we're dog people and we started to miss our babies back at home. Overall a great time, with only minor issues - the washing machine was broken on our visit so we couldn't do laundry, the ipod dock didn't charge our iPod, and the internet signal was very weak. However, these things didn't hold a candle to the great things - the connection with nature, the incredible beachside view and the luxury of having a private beachfront mecca. Overall a solid experience at R House. If you decide on R House, you won't be disappointed. When you visit check out The Lazy Parrot for a fancy dinner, the English Rose (scary drive but incredible views) for brunch and Lucky 13 barbaque for some interesting drinks. Oh, and if you want to try surfing, we took lessons at Road to Happiness (near the Calypso restaurant) from a pro named Darron and he was great - very friendly, patient and skilled! Rincon was wonderful, we'll return someday! Enjoy your trip!

We have stayed at R House for the 2nd year and, if anything, we liked it even more this year! We love the jungle garden just before you hit the sand and you are literally within the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve with incredible snorkeling. There are both brain and elkhorn corals in the same area which is rare and the tropical fish and Hawksbill Turtles were a wonder! My husband was able to surf within walking distance as well...surfing and snorkeling in the same area is difficult to find. The house is run very well and is lovely with a new kitchen! We liked the feeling of safety of having the owners upstairs also. We literally could have avoided getting in the car the entire stay as it is just a short beach walk to one of the best oceanfront restaurants in Rincon...the Black Eagle. Playing in the crystal clear waters everyday, walking along the beach to dinner and then settling in on the oceanfront jungle lanai to candles and a hammock...not to mention all the gear being provided...well, what's not to love! We cannot wait to come back!

My sister and I rented this home for a week in October. The location is perfect as the backyard is located on a marine preserve where the snorkeling is incredible. The home comes with everything you could want including snorkeling gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, yoga mats, etc. The yard is lovely and the sunsets are breathtaking. The kitchen could use a little updating but we didn't cook since there were so many good places to eat, one of which is in walking distance from the house.
I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a great home.

If this place meets your bedroom requirements and is available...book it! My husband, two teenage kids and I spend the week of Thanksgiving and every family member went away extremely happy.
This place is not your typical rental. Ali and Leon have stocked this newly-renovated baby with kitchen gadgets to meet your every culinary need, a big-screen TV with loads of channels, snorkel gear, boogie boards, and (nice) beach chairs. You also have access to a full-sized washer and drier. If you haven’t been to Rincon, you may not fully appreciate this statement: There is great water pressure in the shower with copious amounts of hot water and (drum roll please) you can flush toilet paper!!
The location couldn’t be better. Step’s Beach has excellent snorkeling within 50 feet of the shore. It’s a superb location for watching the sunset. Although there is a public beach nearby, it feels very private.
Ali and Leon know and care about the community. Leon is very active in several local conservancies. They are more than happy to help you out in any way.
My only complaint is that I couldn't stay longer... Thank you ali, Leon and Snickers!! -

This is a fabulous place to spend a fun, relaxing vacation. The weather was perfect, you could walk for miles on the sandy beaches, and allison and Leon were the perfect hosts, right there if you needed anything, but never intrusive. The house is right on the beach but near restaurants and shopping. We have been vacationing in Rincon for several years now, and this is the best spot we have found... can't wait to go back next year !

Allison and Leon were the perfect hosts -- warm and friendly but not in any way intrusive. They went out of their way to help my wife and I discover the best places to surf, eat and swim. The view from the backyard is spectacular. Over all, the R house is a great deal. We'll definitely be visiting again.

This was by far the best vacation of my life and the biggest part of it was R House. It is the perfect location to stay in an incredible town. My family wanted to snorkel all day, every day, and R House was key to that dream come true. We only had to step onto the beach and were at an awesome reef. This is key to my families' happiness. Ali also gave us great local advice and even heirloom tomatoes! We miss absolutely be renting again!

R house reminded me of that comfortable feeling of a long ago visit to my grandmother's. Everything was fresh and met our expectations from the web site info.Even the kitchen was stocked with some essential items that was a delightful and unexpected touch...from herbs to oils!
Rincon is a town that allows one to get away from the fast pace and the beaches are divine!

Emily and I had a terrific stay. This part of Puerto Rico is unspoiled by development. This house is right on an amazing snorkeling beach. We paddleboarded, snorkeled, watched surfers at the end of the week when the waves kicked up. Drove to eat amazing food. Chilled with Miss Snickerdoodle from time to time. Made some Piña's. Hosts were very nice and helpful with recommendations on food and activities. We will definitely be back.

Ali and Leon have gone out of there way to make their home a little bit of paradise. The yard is immaculately landscaped and the house was great. Ourselves and our boys 11 and 7 had a wonderful time snorkeling at Steps Beach and searching for Sea Glass right in front of the house! Ali was so kind to bring us Ripe Mango's and Star fruit for the family to enjoy for dinner and to answer my many questions about where the best places to visit. We are not used to sleeping with our windows open at night, but I will say we felt completely safe at "R" house and found everyone to be friendly and helpful. Once we figured out a bit of the area we were zooming back and forth to different places and the grocery store. I will say the Garmin was wonderful help in finding our way around the West end of the Island and especially coming from San Juan and going back. Snickers sporadic visits were so welcome we were all missing our dog and my boys are still talking about her. The beaches were absolutely beautiful and the sunsets amazing! We found more Sea glass of all different colors blues, red, orange, olive in one day at Tres Palmas and Rincon than we have found in years here in North Carolina.

The house is perfect for its size. Ali had just had the bathroom redone and it was very nice, tile shower and open air feel made it seem bigger than it was. The beds were very comfortable, and plenty of closet space for a small family or two couples. The closet in the hallway had everything you could think of when on vacation. The kitchen/den was perfect, nice large couch, a large flat screen TV with cable & HBO. The covered porch in the back was were we would start our mornings, listening to the waves crash on the reef and watching the Yellow Crowned Night Heron (a beautiful bird) hunt the PR Ground lizards that live in the backyard environment; as well watching and listening to the wings of hummingbirds feed off the Hibiscus tree flowers, I miss it now as I write. They have consciously created an environment with certain plants and trees to attract the local wildlife, therefore creating an authentic and idyllic setting for those wanting to experience the real Rincon. The beach is nice soft sand and is truly beautiful with all the vegetation. It is obvious that the Richter's have committed them selves to holding a high standard when it comes to the needs of those renting their first floor, the Richter's want you back and more importantly they genuinely care about your experience. Whether you're are a family a couple a small group or just want to get away by yourself "R" House is for you! My wife was 24 weeks pregnant and was comfortable the entire stay and we walked the beach everyday. Before I travel anywhere I do extensive research in all areas of life for the location I'm visiting. After doing days of research and after my stay here I can say with confidence that you will not find another rental in Rincon like "R” House. Do yourself a favor stop looking, check the availability schedule, give ali a call, and you too will be lucky enough to experience Rincon's own Shangri-la.

My husband and I had a perfect getaway wknd to Puerto Rico. We left our kids at home, but they would have easily had as much fun. R House is the only place you'll ever want to stay. Spotless house, steps from the beach, BBQ and laundry whenever you need. We were so at home and Rincon is filled with the friendliest people and great food-- all easily accessible from R House. We can't wait to go back!

We arrived at night and fell asleep to the ocean waves crashing on the beach. In the morning, we woke to a beautiful view of the ocean and had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed everything that the house had to offer. The first day we drove around trying to find a beach. We realized that the perfect beach was right out back of the house. Besides leaving to surf in the morning, we enjoyed the beach in the back for most of the day. The Richter's were very kind and generous by opening their home to us and allowing us to use their beach chairs and snorkeling equipment. It was a truly great experience and we can't wait until we can go back! :)

My wife and I and two teen-age kids stayed for 8 days mid march. The location is wonderful, the service and consideration of the hosts is wonderful. The owners have gone way out of their way to make sure that just about every basic necessity is taken care of. In addition to providing snorkel equipment, beach chairs, boogie boards, foam surf boards etc., the pantry was stocked with beach and bath towels, sun screens, mosquito sprays, over the counter medicines and just about everything else you need in that manner. They also provide an array of seasonings and herbs etc., so that the food you buy and cook on the stove or on the grill can be done without having to buy bottles of items like salt, pepper and more exotic spices for a one time use. Wish we could have stayed there a month. The snorkeling is awesome and the back yard is relaxing and accommodating. The interior is basic (not fancy or exotic) and its location and make it difficult to keep immaculately clean, but for two to four people, this rental can't be beat when you consider all of the factors,including price.

We visited Puerto Rico for sixteen days, the last seven being at R House in Rincon. Aside from believing that Rincon is the best place in Puerto Rico, we where extremely pleased with our stay with alli and "Snickers". The location of alli's home is perfect. Being centrally located, we were never more then a few minutes from any of the hot spots. Her home and yard are located at the start of Tres Palmas just steps from one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen. Her hospitality was no less then perfect. She allowed to move things as needed to accomodate the six people we traveled with and had many extras available for use on the beach. R House is an Ideal location for any type of vacation you are looking for. Whether you come to surf, skorkle, dive, beach comb, or just want to lay in the hammock and listen to the waves, this place as it all. Thanks for a wonderful time!

I decided to rent the R house after reading all the great reviews and I was not disappointed. After working in San Juan during the week, my wife joined me in Puerto Rico for the weekend. We wanted to find one place to spend two days versus trying to see too much of Puerto Rico with limited time. We couldn't have been happier with our accomodations. You have the sea outside the backdoor and at least one place to dine that was within walking distance - Shipwreck, sit at the bar and hope that Gary's your bartender because he was great. We had breakfast at the English Rose - another great spot - this one is a short drive from your accomodations. Another recommendation is to drive to Isabella to hang out at an amazing beach. We were there during a surf competition and the waves were amazing...and the views! So, I could go on but this place offers a lot and I would definitely return.

We loved our stay at ali and Leon's . They were wonderful hosts...helpful, warm, kind and never intrusive. Their dog Snickers was the sweetest little dog and she and my boys became fast friends. We all really grew to love Snickers!
The location was great as we were close to supermarkets and a variety of really of nice restaurants. Ali and Leon provide a binder with info about Rincon ...very helpful.
The house was extremely clean and was fully equipped and very comfortable with many special little extras that they included. My family really enjoyed the variety of board games that they supplied...great way to relax after a fun day at the beach.
As for the beach...we were only yards from it! All we had to do was walk over through ali and Leon's beautiful yard! Also, after a short 2-3 minute walk we were able to enjoy Steps Beach where we experienced fantastic snorkeling. The kids were amazed and delighted with gorgeous fish and clear water!
After enjoying wonderful days on the beach we settled down while watching absolutely lovely sunsets.
We will never forget our vacation at R House as it was truly a dream come true. We would love to return there someday. Ali, Leon and snickers are the best!

We stayed here for 3 nights. We were greeting very warmly by allison and Snickerdoodle. The house was very homey.
We dropped our bags and went to the beach. What a beautiful area. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner. It was so relaxing laying in the hammock and listening to the waves. The ocean was so comforting and easy to fall asleep to.
There is plenty of snorkelling equipment, beach towels and toys. we snorkeled for hours. It is beautiful. The kids saw a sea turtle among other things. I had a underwater camera, so we got great pictures. The water was refreshing and you could stay in all day.
There was WiFi, TV and movies.
We all really enjoyed our stay there. Would love to go back -

This place was right up our alley. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils so we did the vast majority of our eating right there at the house. They had a fresh herb garden and we were encouraged to use it to our benefit. The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. While we didn't use much of what they provided as far as beach gear, it was all there for us if we needed/wanted it adding to the value. It was kind of like living at home but in Puerto Rico. Alison, Leon, and Snickers were good hosts and I think Snickers came in for a visit at least four times. We got a big kick out of that.
About the only down side is that the neighbors had guests (this house is in a residential area) and they stayed up later than we like and they were loud enough that it kept us up at night. Since there is no a/C, the windows are generally left open so the sound was able to carry. We were there over the July 4th holiday and the following week so that may have been a big factor.
Overall we had a great time. -

The house was perfectly appointed and very clean. Just outside the back door was a beautiful beach and coral reef great for snorkeling. Tucked away in its own private setting, we were still close to beaches, restuarants and points of interest. The owner was friendly, accomodating and respectful. I hesitate to write too much- when you stay here you feel like keeping it a secret all to yourself. I plan on returning as soon as I can!

The Richter's once again wowed us with their immaculate beachside bungalow. Sleeping and waking to the lapping waves, walking 5 feet to the beach (snorkels and flippers provided) and driving 5 minutes to epic surfing, it was the ideal vacation. Their warmth and knowledge of the area and the island are another perk to the stay. For a fraction of the price of other beach getaways, this is a treasured secret I am happy to share.

I had read all the reviews before picking the R house. They really sold me. Once I was there, I realized that everything that was said was completely true. This is truly a great place to stay. I had always stayed on the other side of the point and this is so much better. I was so comfortable at the R house. It had everything I needed. The diving out front is so good. I dove this reef over 25 years ago and I am convinced that it is even healthier now. I swam with turtles each time I snorkeled and was surprised by the variety of fish I saw. Allie and Leon continue to improve upon the property. The patio is even larger and the landscaping is beautiful. They are the greatest hosts I've ever had. Thanks so much for everything. I am booking for next year now and even am bringing by parents (which says alot about the place).

Last January I visited Rincon for the first time and
stayed at Leon and Ali's. I have to say that never
have I had such a wonderful experience of escaping
to paradise! As soon as I walked out the back door
to Tres Palmas Beach (literally just a few steps away)
I was left speechless! Leon and Ali (and their dog
Snickerdoodle) are amazing people that go above
and beyond to make your stay as perfect as
possible. Our stay was so wonderful that when my
fiance and I returned there this January, we decided
to tie the knot right there on the beach in Leon and
Ali's "backyard". We simply couldn't imagine a more
magical place to get married, and we had a
beautiful sunset wedding! I'd highly recommend
this to anyone who would like to say their vows with
their feet in the sand and the spectacular setting
sun reflecting in the waves behind them! We
honeymooned there for two weeks and never ran
out of things to do...there are so many fun activities
and great restaurants nearby (some even within
walking distance) with delicious fresh fish that was
literally just caught! We'll look forward to January
every year from now on because we'll definitely be
going to Rincon and staying at our favorite place in
the world, the "R" house!!! -

We're a surfing family and on our first trip to Rincon, we stayed in a hotel. Boy, was that a mistake. Every hotel in Rincon has a bar that tries to outdo each other at night. Loud music and partying. We like to get up early, surf hard all day, snorkel and then are ready for sleep. If you like to party at night, stay in a hotel. R House is so incredibly relaxing, inviting and safe. Ali and Leon are absolutely wonderful-there if you need them, leaves you alone if you don't. You couldn't ask for a better location-the best beach around, incredible snorkeling, close to the surf breaks and to fall asleep to the breezes coming in and sound of the waves-you couldn't ask for more. We stayed for one week at R House in Rincon with our two kids. This was our second trip to Rincon, and staying at R House made the trip one of our best ever. The house was simple, but everything we wanted for our trip. Sleeping every night listening to the waves crash into the shore was one of our favorite parts of the trip. The beach immediately in front of the property is pretty rough, but great swimming beaches are really close by, and snorkling at Steps Beach just down from the house was amazing. My kids loved playing with Snickers (I think they took more pictures of her than anything else!), and Allison and Leon had great recommendations for restaurants and some other activities that weren't well-known tourist attractions. We will definitely return to R House as soon as we can - that is if we don't buy our own house in Rincon!

R House is a great place to stay. The location is spectacular. The house is
right on a beautiful beach that fronts the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve. The
reefs immediately offshore offer amazing snorkeling.
The house is very clean, comfortable and airy. Falling asleep in the
comfortable beds while letting the gentle ocean waves lull you to sleep is
heavenly. The kitchen has everything you need so you can choose to eat in
or head out in Rincón.
Ali and Leon are wonderful hosts who live upstairs. They are around to make
sure your well taken care of but never intrude on your privacy. They have
Rincón dialed and are happy to provide recommendations so you can enjoy
the best Rincón has to offer. If

I wouldn't stay anywhere in Rincon other than this place on the beach. It's beautiful, on the beach, relaxing, has all the amenities you could want and has great views. Plus, your yard is pretty much the beach.
There's no tourists around, you're not in the middle of chaos or traffic and it's quiet (except for the ocean).

My wife and I stayed at R house over July 4th weekend. What a pleasure it was. Our room was super clean, everything was in the right place and the owners (Ali and Leon)could not have been more helpful. Considerate of our needs and facilitating of any information required. Our only complaint is that the sea was a bit loud one night, but that is the disadvantage of being only 50 yards away from a beautiful beach. we swam and walked on the Reserve and in the end we loved this location and will definitely return

I brought my parents on vacation. We were looking for a quiet (but not to quiet) beach house and we found it. The couple upstairs (owners) are so nice. They were very helpful with any questions we had. The furniture is not very comfy but most people wont be there lots. I will return and will probably stay in the same place.

If you're thinking of visiting Rincon (and getting an "off-the-beaten-path"
perspective) then you MUST stay here!!
Ali and Leon, the owners of this charming home, are former stateside
professionals who now call Rincon home. They are more knowledgeable
than
the Lonely Planet, always happy to recommend the perfect meal, and just as
happy to give you the privacy that you may want.
We found the location perfect! The ocean is only steps away and some of
the
best snorkling in Puerto Rico just a short walk down the beach.
The beds were beyond comfortable and the thoughtful touches such as
snorkle
gear, beach towels, sun screen, etc. made our stay feel more like home.
We've
been back twice and will continue to go back!!

Allison is a wonderful person and our stay couldn't have been better. The house is lovely and is so beautiful with all the plants and flowers. It is right on the beach!!! You couldn't stay in a better place.

beach is amazing & so close to the house! Everything from beach towels to wi-
fi was provided for us & the beds are extremely comfortable. Also, the house
was extremely clean. The owners of the house, Allison & Leon, are incredibly
nice & helpful. We will definitely be back soon! -

This is a vacation location that when you arrive you feel immediately relaxed and "at home". Everything is provided to make your stay very confortable, including the privacy to enjoy the beach, surf, and sun. The beach area is outstanding, and Rincon provides a wide variety of water borne experiences. The appartment has wireless capability. Bring your portable computer so you can keep up with your email. Fix your own meals, or eat out, the choice is yours. The apartment is very clean and well maintained. Everything worked the way it is supposed to work when your on a vaction. There were no surprises.
We have recommended this location to several of our friends who want to get away from the hustle and bustle and simply enjoy each other without the distractions. We are already booked to return for another visit.

It was a great location. The beach was beautiful, and the house was nice.
But you have to sleep with the windows open, since there is no air conditioner. The heat was a problem, but a bigger problem was the noise from people upstairs and partiers at the beach. -

There's something super awesome about finding a vacation rental online with tons of great reviews all saying the same thing... so here's my review, reiterating what everyone before me said about the R House....
What a perfect spot for a Rincon getaway. As far as vaca rentals go, this one was the bees knees.
Ali and Leon are awesome hosts, thoughtful, helpful, nice. They leave you plenty of ameneties including sunscreen, surf boards, beach chairs, snorkel gear, etc. Upon arrival, we found a big thick binder full of information, menus, where to go and what to do. But we didn't have to wait to get this info. Ali emailed back and forth with me a bunch of times leading up to our trip answering all my questions.
The place is clean, easy, with comfy beds and all the stuff you need. There's a hammock, a nice little yard, an herb garden and plenty of towels and a laundry room. What makes this place totally friggin awesome? THE LOCATION! you are right on the beach, not just any beach, but a Marine Reserve and quite frankly, the nicest beach in Rincon.
I'm planning a return trip with my family this fall. Can't wait to get back to chillax in Rincon at the R House. It was an awesome, perfect home base for our holiday. -

My husband and I spent 4 nights at this property in February 2009. The house is directly on the beach and has a lovely view. The two bedroom bottom floor rental has a full kitchen; we love to cook so this was a must for us. (A large grocery store is located just a few miles down the road in Rincon). Ali and her husband are pleasant people and our stay there was relaxing, as well as economical. We loved snorkeling at Steps Beach and seeing all the amazing Elkhorn Coral.

house is very nice and in a good quiet location. don't bring anything but what you are going to wear and food and drink. Everything you need is furnished. A great place for two couples or a family of four or five, nothing is left to chance here all is given to you and all in all a great place.

Loved the setting, the beaches, the surfing, Snickerdoodle, convenient laundry facility, the congeniality of the hosts. They are nightowls! All in all, we'd recommend R House!

"Warm" is there because we came down for a February getaway from the frozen North. "Friendly"-- Alison and her husband live upstairs; we were in a 2 BR apartment on the bottom floor of a 2-story house, last house before the ocean on the northwest coast of Puerto Rico. House comes with a full kitchen and cooking equipment so every night we had the choice of eating out or cooking our own meals. (We cooked our own breakfast and lunch most days) Beds comfortable; property is well-kept.
The ocean in front of the cottage is protected by a coral reef; swimming was difficult near the cottage, but a sandy beach was a 15' walk or 5' ride away. And the water was WARM.

This was a great place to stay, I'm afraid to recommend it too highly for fear of it being too book for me to go back to. I loved this place. It was perfect, right on the water, snorkeling outside. Right next to a lot of great surf breaks. The service was excellent. Allison and her husband were very kind. It felt like we were staying with friends. Everything you could need was there. I can't wait to go back.
