Description from the owner
Barrero Beach House is located at the edge of one of the nicest beaches in Rincon where you step out of the yard onto the beach sand. The yard is fully shaded with a hammock and BBQ. A fishing village next door where you can buy fresh fish and lobsters as the fishermen come in. Barrero Beach House is located in a quaint Puerto Rican neighborhood out of the tourist area and you will have a true feel of Puerto Rico. There is a Catholic Chapel next door and a small store (Colmado) up the beach where where you can buy fried meat pies, beers or 25 cent pool games. Barrero Beach House is like living on a private beach. Joe(the owner)who lives just down the street is more like a host. On one of his visits to see how our stay was going, we stood together on our ocean view deck. I sipped on a "fresh mango" rum drink while Joe pointed out to where old shipwrecks lie underwater, just beyond the reef. Part of the reef comes to within 50 feet of the beach for great snorkeling. Tv is newer flat screen but we never turned it on. The water sea beckoned us. If you enjoy grilling fresh fish, Joe can help negotiate your purchase with the fishermen next door. This beach house has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We had 5 people with lots of room in the upstairs unit. Coconut palms provide some shade while using the sandy beach. There are plenty of beach chairs and towels to go with. Plan on spectacular sunsets, but a word of caution: The sound of the waves will lull you to sleep.

I'm almost afraid to write this review because I want this house to be available for our next trip! It's like discovering a beautiful hidden gem and you want to covet it! We reserved the top floor 2 Br portion of the beach house for our 11 year wedding anniversary. There aren't that many pictures available online so we didn't really know what to expect. We were blown away. The first moment I saw the view from the balcony I felt like we had died and gone to heaven! The beach was right in our backyard! The water was clear blue and calm. We pretty much had the entire beach to ourselves. We spent our days swimming in the sea and collecting sea glass. There are fisherman next door. When you see them come in with their catch for the day, you can buy fresh fish directly from them. We bought a delicious pink snapper that we cooked on the grill.I loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night. Every morning when I woke up and caught a glimpse of the view from the bedroom window I had to pinch myself because I thought I was still dreaming. I was in bliss for 7 days straight. That being said, If you are someone that needs luxury and likes five star resorts. This is not the place for you. This beach house has a more rustic charm. Everything you need is here. Stove, Microwave, toaster, Washing machine, Clothes lines, grill, towels, toilet paper and there was even some toiletries left over from previous guests that really came in handy. There is a TV here, but we didn't need it not when you have the ocean in your backyard. We spent our nights together gazing up at the stars instead. You can really move in and experience what it would be like to live in the Caribbean. Joe is incredibly helpful and available if you need him. The town is less than 10 minutes away with amazing restaurants and some nice nightlife on the weekends. I definitely recommend La Cambija for the pinchos. They're incredible! Hands down. Best anniversary we have ever had. Thank you Joe! We'll be back!

Our family of four really enjoyed the downstairs of the beach house for a five night stay. Joe was very good to work with and a great guy to sit and talk with. The view behind the house is incredible, the beach is perfect for a great getaway. We were fortunate enough to get some fresh crab and lobster from the fisherman next door too!
The house had all we needed to get through the week, it has cable TV but we never turned it on with a beach in the backyard. 3 comfortable bedrooms and we all slept great, AC in the bedrooms if you need it but the nice ocean breeze and crashing waves will make you not want to turn it on. The neighborhood is great and we felt very safe there. Rincon is a great town to visit and this beach house is well worth the stay. We are hoping to stay again next year.

I will never stay in a hotel when on vacation again! Assuming all vacation rentals are like this one...
This house has everything you need. Amazing back porch viewing the ocean, beach at your footsteps, kitchen to cook, A/C in the bedrooms cold enough to freeze you, within walking distance of great food and drinks, great safe neighborhood and far away form the busy city and tourists. Incredible sunsets... Oh, and a great host! Joe was fantastic. So fantastic that he even saved a whole day of our vacation by finding someone to take us deep sea fishing when my original guy flaked out! Rincon was our favorite area out of the 4 we stayed in. You feel like you are one of the locals! On one of the nights, we walked down to the Calmado for food and drinks. We met some locals and had a blast! They even let us borrow their kayaks the next day. When we talk of our vacation, staying in this house always seems to come up. Can't wait to come back again! Thanx Joe, we'll see you again soon! -

I find it very difficult to go back to my real life today after spending 8 wonderful days living in this hidden gem on the beach. Everything is as described, yet nothing will prepare you for the dazzling view, the lull of the surf and the fact that you are right on top of the ocean. Joe is one of the most attentive and generous hosts, and he really bends over backwards to make sure you have what you need. Everyone owes themselves a vacation like this where you can get out of the grind, put away the tourista checklist and simply get into the slow groove of this Puerto Rican village. The Calmado is just steps away and Monci will make you some of the best empanadillas in Puerto Rico, some that are made with fish caught next door. Have an Medalla beer or rum drink while she makes them for you, and she'll make them to go. Around the corner a man sells 10 mangos for $1. We stayed in the upper unit and it was spacious for four adults and one child. It offers large verandas on both sides of the home so that you can always relax in or out of the sun. There is also a live reef along the property line to the north. Sandy swimming to the south. Lots of shells to be collected during your long beach walks. Also a good location to venture into Rincon but trust me, you will want to rush back home to your veranda for the sunsets and your mango rum drinks. Also, stop at the roadside stands during the afternoon for the slow roasted chicken, pork, shishkebabs and more, it is authentic, delicious and it's what anthony Bourdain would do. Take it 'para llevar' to eat back on your veranda.
A few things to know: beach chairs are provided, and there's shady spots provided by the coconut palms that hang out over the beach. The layout is so spacious that even if the house is fully occupied upstairs and down, there's plenty of room to spread out in the yard and beach. WiFi worked well. Bring a radio and you will enjoy the sounds of Puerto Rico as you sip your cool drink on the beach. -

Joe was the nicest host ever! We were several hours early for our meeting time at Burger King so Joe cancel his appt just so we did not have to wait. He took us to the house, showed us around, then we followed him to the nearest grocery store. The house was perfectly located right on the beach and equipt with all the amenities you need! This was a great vacation for us and we would recommend this place to our friends!!

Joe kept in touch with us from time to time until we actually arrived in San Juan. He gave us great directions on how to get to Rincon via the southwest and met us promptly at the Burger King on 115 in Rincon. There really is no way to describe how to get to the house to someone who hasn't been there, so the Burger King is perfect.
From the first moment we opened our eyes in our beach-facing bedroom, we knew we had done the right thing. Joe was a great host, very available and willing to help. The house is a real beach house - sand, wet towels, lived in - perfect unless you're looking for the Ritz - which we weren't! The front door opens right onto a terrace, down the stairs and across a small yard and there you are -- right on your own practically private beach in paradise. Barrero is on the Carribean side of Rincon, so it makes for fantastic swimming, not to mention collecting shells and sea glass. The weather for our entire stay from December 1, 2012, through the end of January, 2013, was fantastic. And the sunsets are unrivaled anywhere in this world.
The more "American" part of Rincon - where the surfer culture thrives, and the bigger hotels are located, is not too far away - a short drive gets you to any of the other beaches and hotspots all over Rincon. But we hardly left Barrero - it was so quiet, so peaceful, so truly serene, that by the end of our vacation we were making plans to stay longer and to return next year. The people of Puerto Rico are warm, enthusiastic, and charming; they made us feel welcome. And I have never been to a more beautiful place in the islands, many of which I've stayed at in the past.

I found this place soley by searching online. I contacted Joe before my stay and talked about the stay and my expections. Nothing we saw was a suprise. We arrived late around 10pm. Joe met us at the Burger King parking lot and led us to the house. Otherwise it would have been impossible for us to find. He explained a few things and let us rest. He checked in on us regulary to see if we needed anything. He was very welcoming and suggested places around town where we can eat and visit. There is also a notebook on the table with suggestions from guests stayed there which we found very helpful to look at. The view from the porch was amazing. We woke up to that for 2 weeks. I was soo spoiled :) we loved listening to the waves. The kids (3 under 3) had a blast playing in the gated yard especially the water hose. It felt sooo secure. There is a little fisherman warf next door that they bring fresh fish every morning. We walked up there to get the fish we liked. Even paid like $25 for 3 live lobsters. House is not luxirious but it has everything you need. If you miss something there is a dollar store on the main road that sells from pots and pans to towels and flipflops. We cannot wait to go back. It was amazing spot for us. Thanks to you Joe and Pillar for your hospitability.

So we decided to stay at Barrero Beach House after reviewing all the great reviews here on Tripadvisor. After six nights, we beg to differ.
First, we got directions to a Burger King parking lot--not the property--after the owner received our $150 deposit. In this day of GPS and GoogleMaps, I'm certain we would have found the property had we been given its true location.
Second, we waited almost an hour at the Burger King parking lot and concluded this was a fraud after several unreturned calls to the owners. Our poor seven-year-old daughter was distressed when we drove away after telling her the beach house wasn't happening. We stopped at a local resort, hoping to find a room and--lo and behold!--the owner called but left no message. So I called him back and he said he had forgotten about us--not a good thing, pray tell. However, we decided to stay for our little girl's sake.
If you read the amenities section on this site, it reads "air conditioning." We assumed that meant the whole house--nope! Only the bedrooms have window aCs and one didn't work! Another amenity, "high-definition TV", sounds really great, doesn't it? In reality, the Tv's picture was faint and had a permanent green tint.
In his initial email to me, the owner, Joe, wrote, "Oct is a good month as it usually don't rain much." Ha! It rained everyday. But while we were there, an acquaintance, who also lives there, confirmed that in fact September and October usually have the most rain.
Oh, and one more thing: Joe cut down all the shade branches/trees in the backyard depicted in his photos but failed to inform us before our arrival! Isn't that grand?
So, if we had known that we would spend almost an hour in a hot parking lot wondering if we had been the victims of a fraud; that "air conditioning" does not include the living/dining/kitchen areas; that the TV is dying; that all backyard shading was removed; and that it rained every freaking day, we would have stayed elsewhere.

Ralph was correct My phone was out and he had to wait so I am sorry for that. I am sorry I can not control the weather maybe he should have went to a desert area as we get rain in PR. The TV was replace and the repair man told me it had been hit in the screen and therfore unfixable. In pr we have very few central A/C due to the cement house which are had to insulate and it is true the shade tree was cut down for safty reasons. I am sorry Ralph had such a hard time here. Next time he might try the Horned Dorrest Pimavera Holtel in the area which is rated four stars and 600.00 per night. I wish he had stayed elsewhere as it seems he would complain if he was not hung with a silk rope.

Booked our stay based on others review and found it to be a perfect spot to start our vacation in Puerto Rico. Wished we had booked all of our time there (stayed in El Yunque last few days) and know to do that next time! Joe was a great host, our flight ended up coming in late, we got to Rincon around 2am and Joe was there to welcome us! Visited several beaches, had an amazing horseback ride (Pintos-R-Us, Julie) and took in some sights. The whole vibe changed on the East side of the island, crowded, touristy, not as laid back as the West side. Hope to get back again and will definitely try to stay at Barrero Beach House!

We stayed at Barrero Beach house this past april with our 1 and 1/2 year old and it was perfect. This house is safe for little ones like ours who like to do everything and be everywhere. The gates kept her out of the ocean, there was a chair just her size, and the sound of the surf as well as the hum of the air conditioner made for great naps.
Joe was a wonderful host, making sure we had all we needed, including fish from the fish coop next door and directions to must see and must eats.
We would loved to get back to Rincon and stay at this beach house again. The beach out front was easy and lively but also felt like our own. If you like a great beach walk, this one takes the cake. Honestly, no complaints. Easy, friendly, clean, simple.

This house was always booked on our other trips to PR. Lucky we found it this time. The location is great. In a quiet neighborhood, but close to everything you needed. We love that it is off the beaten path. We stayed with our 3 boys (1 1/2, 5, and 8 yrs) for 8 days, and there was something for everyone to do. We rarely left the area. Joe was terrific and treated us like family. The place had your necessities and the now required satellite TV and wireless internet. The shower was fine once you get the hang of it. The place is very clean, the neighbors are great. I would recommend to all but those who require pampering and luxury service on vacation. This is a no nonsense great place to stay.

My wife and I stayed here in Rincon for 7 days and wished we could've stayed longer. By far, the best part about Barrero Beach House is the location. It sits right on the beach tucked away from the busier parts of town. The quiet neighborhood is the perfect place to soak up the sun and get a more authentic feel for living in PR.
The house itself is nothing fancy but it's clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. If you're not a fan of high priced resorts, this is a place you'll love. We spent many afternoons grilling out in the backyard, watching the sun set, enjoying cocktails and Medalla Light.
Joe, the owner, is a great host who always made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He's lived in PR for many years and knows all about the good resturants in the area and the best places to visit. He gave us lots of advice on day trips and good directions on how to get places.
Overall, its a great value for the price and we can't wait to come back to Rincon and rent from Joe again.

Joe is wonderfully accommodating and was a pleasure to rent from. He was friendly, helpful, and even brought an air matress for an extra occupant that we brought along. His place was exactly what I was looking for: a nice apartment right on the water that was not too fancy and thus reasonably priced, carried no hassles/extra charges and taxes. There is a small reef that is not too bad just offshore for amature snorkeling, and a nice walkable beach with beautiful sunsets. It's a good place for a surfing group to stay but a decent drive (5-6 miles) up the shoreline is needed to reach the surf breaks. All in all, I recommend Joe's beach house highly!

This is an excellent value vacation rental -- FYI: we stayed in the upstairs appartment.
We spent 10 days over Christmas and were very satisfied. Joe and Pilar were lovely and made sure to stop by regularly to see we were comfortable. Had been concerned by previous reviews about the hot water but was not a problem for us. Weather was so warm, that a coolish shower was refreshing. Location was outstanding, right on the beach. 5 minute drive to town. A very safe neighborhood -- our kids (13 and 15) were free to explore.
If you are looking for an affordable rental right on the beach, this is for you. Felt like we were really in Puerto Rico (i.e. not a condo complex full of tourists). We are already planning our next trip back to Rincon and would definitely stay here again. Note, if you are expecting a 5-star resort this is not for you. If you like a quiet neighborhood with all the basic amenities and a beautiful beach out your back door you will love this place! -

Joe and his wife were so helpful in suggesting places to go. The beach south by the lighthouse was postcard perfect! Walk up the beach just 200 yards and find smooth sand, no rocks and wonderful night swimming. Great rates with good amenities. Kids thought they couldn't live without a hot water heater but we heated water for dish washing and it was so warm they were fine. We were sorry the hammock was stolen!

First and foremost we felt very safe there unlike our stay in San Juan. Joe went above and beyond not only in helping us find this home, but he made sure we had everything we needed. The locals at the cantina made us all feel very welcome and wait till you see the fishermen dock their boat. Unbelievable! The four of us stayed in the lower level of the home and there was plenty of room. We are giving it five stars because we loved the location and the simplicity of it. It's not fancy, so if you like your bed turned down and mints on your pillow this is not the place for you. The beach is steps away and the sunsets are breathtaking. The catholic chapel next door added to the beauty. We nicknamed a sweet little stray dog Scoobalicious. She loved to hang out with us. My father is 81 and he really enjoyed his stay and would like to come back. Did not enjoy the drive to and from San Juan. Would fly into aguadilla next time. Rincon is a small little town and it is really easy to find your way around. Ask Joe about the little store/restaurant that has awesome food. Looking forward to enjoying this hidden treasure again.

This might be a duplicate since we submitted a similar review on Flipkey.
We just returned from our Puerto Rican vacation, and when reflecting back on the different places we've stayed, we all agreed we enjoyed our stay with Joe the best. The location on the beach was exactly what we were looking for - and only steps from the house! It was big enough for long strolls, and until we reached the condos, the beach was essentially empty and all to ourselves. And the dogs were very friendly.
Joe was a great host, meeting us at the local Burger King to bring us to the house. Otherwise, I'm sure we never would have found it. Even with our GPS location saved, we still had trouble finding the house after the first couple of trips out. Joe's attention and local recommendations for sights were fantastic (go see the falls at San Sebastian).
We enjoyed the three bedrooms with good aC! Although everything was well used, everything we needed worked fine. Kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable, and the TV with cable was good for reviewing pictures we took during the day and to watch a few familiar programs. The blender was in constant use for Pina Coladas! The only things we could see that could have improved our stay would be a better hot water heater, and internet access.
If we return to Puerto Rico for another vacation, we'll certainly be calling Joe again. The location and value can't be beat. -

Earlier this year, my wife and I took a short trip to Puerto Rico to celebrate our anniversary and stayed at Barrero Beach House for 4 days, making our choice mainly from online reviews. The excellent reviews were spot-on! The duplex (one unit upstairs, one down) is only a few steps from the water and the entire setting is a little slice of paradise. Definitely not the glitz and glamor of a resort, but it is exactly what we were looking for. Local, quiet, beautiful. There is a small neighborhood store (Cafetin El Oasis) maybe 50 yards down the road for café con leche and fried meat pies. A small, open-air chapel is right next door to the beach house and a local fishing co-op is next to that. We didn't take advantage of it, but if you are there when the boats come in, you can buy fish directly from the fishermen.
The bedrooms are air-conditioned, but the rest of the house is cooled by ceiling fans and natural ventilation from the louver-shuttered windows - typical of the area. We never felt uncomfortable in any part of the house, but the aC in the bedroom was nice at night - and we could still hear the waves. The only surprise - and this was not a big deal - was that the shower's hot water was generated by a small electrical heating element just behind the showerhead. I didn't recall reading that on any of the websites, but did find it later, after we returned. Like I said, not a big deal - we will return when we can - just a little surprising. It is a function of the concrete construction of the house (also typical for the area) making it difficult to go back and add plumbing lines.
But you are not staying here for long hot showers! It really is on the beach, just a few feet from the ocean. The tropical trees, the warm breezes, the sound of the waves, the neighborhood - all made our idyllic tropical getaway. And the price is great. And the host is nice and helpful!

Perfect location. It was amazing to watch pelicans dive bomb into the ocean. Our family enjoyed running on the beach, playing in the sand and cooling off in the ocean which is just a few steps from the house. Joe is a great host and the house and location are simply amazing.

Great location, clean, well equipped and convenient. The beach was beautfiul .We loved watching the sunsets and the pelicans catching fish from the balcony. The owner was very friendly and helpful and had a really good knowledge of things to do in the area. The water was calm but still had small waves which made it ideal for my 4 year old. I would definitely stay here again.

I would love to return someday with enough friends from the states to fill the house. I valued the peace, quiet, and calm essence of the home. Plus, Joe and Pillar were most friendly and helpful. I'd love to come live there for a couple months.

This place is fantastic. The owners have thought of everything to make my stay perfect. It is very nicely decorated and very clean, and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need. The ocean views are incredible. I have spent many evenings watching the sunset from the back porch which empties onto the beach, cocktail in hand. I never grow tired of it! It is so peaceful here. The beds are comfortable, and everything is so close by (Taino Divers, restaurants, and surf school). Thanks for the fabulous week!

Left on 03/12/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Leaving Vermont and arriving to a night of hearing the surf to being on a beach the next morning was awesome. The temp. was perfect. We felt safe the whole trip loved the local culture, architecture and were able to have a little travel adventure everyday. Everyone we encountered was friendly and seemed happy. It was much different than dealing with grumpy Vermonters. How can you be in a bad mood when you don't have to worry about freezing to death? We wanted to be able to cook and did not want a resort environment. Most of the time we were the only ones on the beach. We did enjoy going to town and hanging with the surfers. Go there you will love it just leave our dates open.

Joe and Pilar provided the perfect vacation setting for us. We enjoyed the local neighborhood atmosphere, the new friends we met and the great food we were able to sample from the local tienda. This is a nice place if you want long walks on the beach, quiet days away from the crowds, and simple home living. Great snorkeling and a great swimming beach are just a few steps away.

Barrero Beach House is exactly what the Dr ordered! Perfectly situated if you love listening to the ocean while sleeping in a very comfortable bed, enjoying meals on the front veranda or napping in the hammock under the mango trees. The house has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay, except hot water...so you boil water for dishes...and who wants a hot shower (outside) when the tempatures are +28C, anyway? Picking up a cpuple of shower bags fixes that problem...
Joe & Pilar are very gracious hosts and go out of their way to make your holiday an amazing one. They are both extremely knowledgable and always have great suggestions for things to do.
Although there are no private beaches in Puerto Rico, one can easily think otherwise when it comes to Barrero. It is a small beach, perfect for swimming, situated in a tiny fishing village south of Rincon's surfing beaches, so it gets very few visitors. The ice house for the fish is next door so you don't have to go far to get the catch of the day.
We had the best month's holiday thanks to: hot sunny days, beautiful sunsets, warm hospitality and wonderful new friends. Thank you Joe & Pilar; we can hardly wait until we meet again!

The house was everything we had hoped for and more. It's location is absolutely prime. Nice neighbors and right on the beach. Joe & Pilar stopped by a couple to times to make sure we were comfortable and they are very knowledgeable about the area. We have nothing but positive to say about our stay. We will definitely return again.

Barrero Beach House was one of the best vacations my family and I have every had. The Beach House is located in a quiet and extremely lovely area of Rincon PR. We found the beach house to be clean and comfortable and equipped with everything needed to eat and enjoy your stay. Upon arriving extremely late at night, as our flight did not get in until after 1 am - Joe went out of his way to meet us and made sure we found our way there. The area is slightly off the beaten path but very close to all the great beaches we had researched before going to Rincon. It took very little time to feel comfortable driving around. The beach the house is on is quite lovely and being more in the area of a cove the waves were not extremely large as on the more open beaches and made swimming and snorkeling fun. The drive to some local highlights (i.e. crashboat beach, steps beach) was very easy. There is a Sam's Club about 13 mile away and K-Mart - the local area markets Econo and Edwards were also very close and had alot to offer. We found the people very pleasant and friendly and since none of us spoke very much spanish we were very happy that almost everyone spoke english. I would recommend going to Happy Burger on Rt 413 as their tacos were quite good. We also enjoyed the atmoshpere at the El Lechon Rt 115. In all, I would have to say the best part was even though this was a public beach there was very little traffic in that area and we had the beach pretty much to ourselves making our stay quiet and relaxing. The only drawback is there is only 1 washer with the house on the lower level and you had to go downstairs to wash your clothes then bring them back up to hang on the line...small concession for a vacation that was truely enjoyed. Thank you very much Joe for letting us rent your lovely beach house and I hope we can come back again.

If you want to experience Island living right on the beach-then Barrero Beach House is perfect for you. The sound of the waves and the continuous gentle breeze lulls you into a hypnotic trance that makes you never want to leave. The evening sunsets are spectacular.
I love collecting sea glass and have gathered some very rare colors and pieces on our daily beach walk where you might only see 14 Pelicans and four people within a two mile walk. Our beach house was comfortably equipped and if anything was lacking, our great landlords, Joe and Pilar would graciously accommodate us. It is centrally located for everything, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing (or watching), horseback riding, dining out, shopping, para-sailing, whale watching etc.
This was our first visit here and we stayed for five weeks, but we have already reserved time to stay here again for Jan. and Feb. next year. We enjoyed grilling our fresh fish caught by the local fisherman two doors down from us on our huge veranda that overlooks the beach and much used hammock. (Did I say we loved this place?)

We have been going to Rincon for eight years, normally staying in Puntas. This year we were traveling with our almost-two-year-old son and were looking for something a bit different. And we found it with Joe and Pilar's wonderful rental. It was comfortable, clean and the beach was just outside our back door. The community made us feel welcome...Muncie (sp?), who owns the little store almost next door, makes the best meat pies I have ever had in my life. We even ended up making fricassee with her husband. And Joe and Pilar were perfect hosts. I really can't ever imagine staying anywhere else when we return for vacation.

It was a real pleasure staying in an actual home on the beach rather than a condo or hotel. It allowed me the feeling, (if only briefly!), that I actually lived there. And Mr. Swider was friendly and helpful in suggesting interesting things to do nearby. I would highly recommend the Barrero Beach House.

Left on 01/01/2011 for a stay in September 2010
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Barrero Beach House in September of 2010, located in Rincon, Puerto Rico. We felt like complete celebrities because the beach house is very beautiful, private, and perfect!! Not only is it located directly on one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world, but the rental house is fully equipped with all the comforts of home. For example: pots, pans, wine glasses, towels, air conditioning, and cable! It has a lovely area (directly on the beach) with a hammock and grill. You can hear the waves crashing at all times. It was so relaxing and comfortable, very spacious, beachy, and cozy.
Not to mention the location is absolutely fabulous. Located in sunny Rincon PR, home to one of the coolest surfing capital of the worlds! Perfect for snorkeling, and water sports, and relaxing. It has fantastic restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores and cute shopping nearby, within 10-15 minutes. For example: Shipwreck Bar & Grill, and Calypso Bar and Restaurant. Home to amazing fish tacos and Ron del Barrilito. It is a quaint, cozy, safe area also...everyone is very friendly.
Not to mention there are other nearby towns that are a reasonable drive from Barrero Beach House, that all have amazing beaches as well. For example Crashboat, Aguadilla (about 30 minutes) and Mayaguez and Cabo Rojo area (about 30 minutes). "El Faro de Cabo Rojo" and Playa Sucia are just simply amazing. The whole west side of the island is magical, unique, and gorgeous place to experience.
My boyfriend and I were so impressed with our stay, completely delighted to stay at the house. We hope to return at some point! I would recommend this beach house to anyone. Perfect for a couple or a family. So comfortable and fabulous. Thank you Joe!! -

Left on 12/02/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Open the door and step right on to the beach. Other than a fishing boat or two, you may discover the peace and solitude that has eluded most of us our entire lives. Enjoy the quaint but modern town of Rincon and its exotic and secluded beaches. If it isn't summer, you probably won't see any locals. Winter temperatures in the 80s, both air and water just doesn't appeal to them so you get it all to yourself. Just before sunset keep an eye peeled as the sun drops below the horizon, you just may see the unforgettable and elusive, blue flash. It is a rare and secluded jewel about a three hour drive from San Juan and well worth it or a quick thirty minutes from the airport in Ceba. So leave the hustle and bustle of San Juan behind and experience what a vacation was always intended to be.
And after a few days, if you are tired of the beach, fishing or unlimited snorkeling then drive a few miles towards Myaguese and enjoy movie theaters, restaurants and major shopping centers no different than what you have become accustomed too back home, after all you are still in the good old USa. Don't forget the mountains, only 10 or 15 minutes away, you can drive for hours on an extended journey you hope never ends. Not your typical mountains either, nor what you would have ever expected. The lush green and rugged terrain is not only captivating but simply something you would have never expected on a Caribbean Island. The downside is that after your week or two, you aren't going to want to go home.
The inconveniences associated with other Caribbean Islands will not be an issue in Puerto Rico, after all it is part of america and even your cell phone will probably work.

What an amazing stay we had at Barrero Beach house. Private Beach and away from the hussle and bussle of tourist attractions. Easy day trip to Cabo Rojo and the historic lighthouse, Amazing beach and snorkelling. Day trip to aricebo Observatory and the largest radio telescope in the world, Went to a local festival in El Rincon with a band playing on the stage in the park just fantastic. Cooking on the grill watching the sun go down from the porch, walks on the beach in the mornings, swinging in the hammock for an early afternoon nap. What can I say this was an amazing place to be. I didn't want the week to end my family and I cannot wait till the next time we can go back.
