Mango Hill Retreat is located in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Rincon is the home of beautiful sunsets and incredible beaches. Our property is minutes away from the best beaches, shopping, and restaurants. Mango Hill Retreat is also minutes away from supermarkets, including Edwards Supermarket, that has the best wine selections and organic foods in all of Rincon.

Rincon was made famous in 1968 when the World Surfing Championship was held at its own Domes Beach. Today, surfers from around the world continue to visit Rincon for casual surfing as well as surfing competitions. For beginners looking to try surfing, Rincon has many experienced instructors and surf board rental shops that will guide you to riding your first wave. Rincon's peak surfing season is from November through April, but summers see some nice surf as well.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
The reefs in the waters just off the coast of Rincon and around Desecheo Island, are rich with sea life and make for some of the best scuba diving in the world. Taino Divers is only a 10 minute drive from Mango Hill Retreat and scuba diving trips go out daily. For guests that would prefer to go snorkeling, Tres Palmas Marine Reserve is a protected area that is a wonderful spot for snorkeling in Rincon and has one of the largest populations of Elk Horn Coral in the Caribbean.
A 10 minute drive from Mango Hill Retreat is Pintos R' Us stables. With healthy, gentle and well cared for horses, Pintos R' Us offers 2 hour and half day horseback rides along Rincon's beautiful beaches, historic lighthouse and lush hillside trails. Encouraging beginner through advanced skill levels, riders can enjoy morning, sunset and early evening full-moon rides. A portion of every ride goes to help and rescue horses in need in Puerto Rico.
15 miles from Mango Hill Retreat is Punta Borinquen Golf Club, an 18-hole, par 72 golf course. Built overlooking where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea, this course offers ocean views and stunning sunsets to golfers looking for a challenging and memorable round of golf. 12 miles away is Club Deportivo Del Oeste Golf Course, a 9-hole golf course with a driving range and practice putting green.
Every winter Rincon is fortunate enough to have Humpback whales migrate just off its coast. Whale watching in Rincon is at its peak in February, but whales can be spotted January through late March. The observation deck at the lighthouse park is Rincon's most popular spot for watching whales. For a closer look at these magnificent creatures, guests can go on whale watching boat trips with Taino Divers that go out during the day and at sunset.

Punta Higüero Lighthouse & Park (Rincon)
Only a few minutes drive from Mango Hill Retreat, this the historic Rincón Lighthouse Park built in 1892, and provides stunning coastal views of western Puerto Rico and Desecheo Island. Visitors to the park can also check out the maritime museum, gift shop and snack bar located inside the lighthouse. During the winter months it is a perfect spot for watching surfers catching waves or the occasional whale spouting by during the winter months.
Desecheo Island (Rincon)
15 miles- A 45 minute boat ride from Rincon, Isla Desecheo is a National Reserve Park with crystal clear waters and visibility of 35 to 40 meters (98 to 148 feet). Named one the world’s best reefs, Desecheo Island is an unspoiled underwater paradise, abundant with tropical fish, vibrant coral, underwater archways and caves. Truly a scuba divers heaven. The island itself is uninhabited except for a herd of wild goats and an introduced population of rhesus monkeys.
Mayagüez Zoo (Mayaguez)
16 miles - Puerto Rico's main zoo is located in Mayagüez, where 90 acres of land is home to over 300 species of birds, reptiles, mammals and amphibians.
Convento de Porta Coeli (San German)
20 miles - Translated as "Doorway to Heaven" and located in the Historic District of San Germán, Puerto Rico, Porta Coeli is the oldest church structure in the Americas. Built in 1609, this convent now houses the Museo de Arte Religioso, a museum of religious pieces of art and artifacts dating back from the 18th and 19th centuries. A must see for those interested in history, architecture and art.
Cabo Rojo Wildlife Reserve (Cabo Rojo)
26 miles- Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Reserve is an 1800 acre haven for over 118 species of migratory and native birds, with several being endangered. With as many as 6 different ecosystems, Cabo Rojo is perfect for bird watching. the reserve has numerous hiking and biking trails as well as a visitors center. The butterfly trail is a special treat for butterfly sightings. Nearby are the Cabo Rojo Salt Flats (a series of saline estuaries) as well as the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse for an added adventure.
Bio-luminescent Bay (La Parguera)
35 miles- In this bay, tiny micro-organisms called Dinoflagellates produce luminescent chemical sparks of green and white light when disturbed in the water. Although this phenomenon occurs sporadically in warm seas around the world, Puerto Rico is one of the only places where it occurs every moonless evening. Camuy River Cave Park (Camuy)
35 miles- Created by the flow of the Camuy River an estimated 1 million years ago, the 'Las Cavernas de Camuy' is a network of underground caverns which are 3rd largest and longest underground system in the world, this being the only only one with an underground river. You can spend many hours exploring these amazing caves and sinkholes that also contain petroglyphs etched into the walls by the Taínos (native Indians). For more advanced cave exploration, special tours and rappelling trips can be arranged to explore undeveloped sections of the caves.
Arecibo Observatory (Arecibo)
35 miles- Known for discovering the first planets outside of our solar system and for measuring Mercury's rate of rotation , the Arecibo Observatory is home to the world's largest and most powerful radio telescope. Featured in the movies Golden Eye (1995) and Contact (1997), the observatory's Visitor Center has educational displays on astronomical and atmospheric sciences as well as an observation deck with great views of the dish and dome.
Guanica Dry Forrest Reserve (Guanica)
40 miles - This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is considered to be the best example of subtropical dry forest in the Caribbean. Guanica is home to approximately fifty percent of the Puerto Rico's bird species, more than 700 plant species as well as other wildlife such as toads, lizards, land crabs, cave shrimps, mongoose and leatherback turtles. Also found at Guanica are spectacular beaches and offshore cays where you can kayak and snorkel. There are 14 trails for hiking and biking of varying difficulty, with one leading to a 1,000- year-old lygnum vitae tree.
