We have been to Rio a number of times, three of which we stayed at this property. Set by Zaza, the location is unbeatable and literally half the price of anything beachfront on Viera Souto. The unit is modern, clean, sunny, and larger than any of the other 3beds we rent in Ipanema. What we like about this space, aside from the style and location, is that it's halfway between a normal home and a hotel so it can be used in both ways. It is the ideal spot for anyone who wants to be in the heart of Ipanema since is between Praca da Paz and the beach Posto 9. Lagoa, Farme de amoedo, and Garcia d'Avila are a 5minute walk away. There is not much else I can say about this rental other than that it is perfect for us and that the management is extremely easy to reach and to work with, always on time, and ready to help us out to get tickets for events or soccer games. Our emails have been consistently responded to faster than anyone we have dealt with. The apartment comes with towels, but they are the standard towels that people use in Rio, small and light, so if anyone likes to use very big towels or bathrobes they should probably bring their own. One thing: beach towels are not used in rio, so no need to bring those. There is great water pressure, one thing not to take for granted in Rio, and it does make a difference after a day at the beach. The laptop in the apartment is functional but mostly for doing emails and to check on local events, so anyone planning of doing real work should bring their own computer (or not come to Rio at all, actually!). The internet connection is very fast and always on. The projector in the bedroom is fantastic on a rainy day, but watch out you could spend the whole day in bed if you start playing with that. Moneywise, we've always got a great rate possibly also because we keep coming back since 2009. Doing the math, the money we save here always adds up to a couple of free nights. So pleased with this location. Safest in Rio. Ipanema is where its at. There are other sights to see but this was an awesome place to relax and absorb the culture. This apt is huge, 3 beds. Just awesome and a bargain price. All details went well and many extras like computer and phones and tour guide. Highly recommend.

Lo mejor de este departamento es su ubicación sin lugar a dudas! Está a una cuadra de la playa Ipanema, tiene cerca una panaderÃa donde venden todo tipo de alimentos para desayunar especialmente y un supermercado relativamente cerca. La zona es segura y la gente de los alrededores es educada. Algo que resaltar también, fue que la devolución de la garantÃa fue realizada al 100% y sin ningún problema.
Algunos aspectos poco favorables son que el departamento en sà no es tan grande como las fotografÃas lo muestran, la cocina es pequeña si consideramos que la utilizarÃan hasta 7 personas y la ropa de cama no se ve muy limpia cuando uno ingresa. -

We booked this apartment for our week stay in Rio de Janeiro. We opted for this apartment not only because of the looks and price but also the fact that it was in a good area with 24 hours security on duty.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable and is pretty much as the pictures show it online with the exception of a few minor repairs that should be made to the unit that aren't visible in the photographs.
The apartment is on the fourth floor. The front of the apartment where the living room and one bedroom are located tend to be the noisiest as they are directly over the street which never seems to be without traffic. The two other bedrooms in the back of the unit are quiet and peaceful.
The one bathroom attached to the front bedroom has no bathroom door. The hot water handle to the sink was broken and if you ran the water too long in the shower it would flood. This was basically due to a construction flaw that whoever they hired to put in the shower laid the stone flat rather than with a slight tilt toward the drain. While this bathroom was in the best shape and nicely designed, they never seemed to finish the remodel and the red plastic cap handles in the shower are exposed with no finished pieces.
The main bathroom in the hall had a door didn't shut and the handle was wobbly so much that you felt it you did manage to shut it you may become trapped inside. This bathroom too also appeared as it is in the middle of having renovations made to it as well.
All of the bedrooms were good size with ample lighting and the beds were extremely comfortable with soft sheets and fluffy pillows.
The kitchen/bar had just about anything you would need down to can openers and a corkscrew. One problem I had with it was the sink, same design flaw as the bathroom shower sometimes resulting in an order arising from the sink. It also had only cold water which isn't very sanitary for washing dishes in. The three stools at the counter, the one is pretty beat up and looks like it was either knocked over a few times or scraped up against the wall or both. This resulted in this stool sinking slowly when you sat in it.
A few things to note; there are no blankets on the beds but there are two comforters located in the closet of one of the bedrooms. Towels were furnished but I was never able to find any washcloths. There is a coffeemaker but no coffee filters. There is a small freezer inside the refrigerator but no ice cube trays. The plugs can be used with us plugs but only the 2 pronged plugs so if you have a plug with the third grounding prong it will not work there. Finally, there is no clock or alarm clock furnished so if you have to adjust to the time zone or have an appointment you will need to bring a travel clock with yourself.
All-in-all it was a nice apartment and I would recommend it and ezrio.com but I feel it is important to note some of the minor issues that maybe aren't relevant to others considering this apartment. It is hard to rate something by Rio standards vs. American standards but from what I have seen apartment wise in Rio, this apartment is top of the line. Liz at ezrio.com is very efficient and helpful and is there for anything you need as is Maite who greets you upon arrival and check out and I can't say enough wonderful things about these two ladies. -

Sitting one block from the beach the best thing about this rental is the location! Many shops and restaurants are located within walking distance. The apartment is clean, and has just about everything you'll need for your stay, except towels! We stayed for 1 week, and pretty much had to use the same towels the entire time.
The advertisement is slightly misleading saying that the rental includes a tour guide for one day, but that does not mean a driver. So what good is a guide that's not a driver? I dunno, maybe not the biggest deal,or maybe it was the language barrier, but when we asked about the guide we could not get a straight answer between the manager and the owner. It was a little frustrating when all we were doing was asking some questions. After 2 days we finally got the scoop and abandoned the subject.
The manager also stays in the building and we got the impression she would run the other way when she saw us, fearing maybe we were going to ask her a question.
The laptop is pretty old and doesn't work that well. I brought my personal laptop which was perfect, all I did was log on to the apartments wireless. The cell phones may be of use for some renters, but we didn't even take them off the counter top.
All in all it was nice, just a couple of things I figured I would share with future renters. -

We enjoy the beautiful things in life, but having kids we also are very careful with money, and in this new economic reality, this is exactly the type of rental that makes a difference. As advertised, the apartment is in the perfect location in Ipanema: on a beautiful, very safe, residential street just around the corner from a myriad of shops and restaurants, and a ten-second stroll from the famous Post 9. The home is extremely clean, quite spacious, and very comfortable. The air conditioning is powerful and adequate. The back bedrooms have two split units that literally freeze the rooms. We slept like babies, and my husband often praised the bed. The main bedroom has a small movie theater that hypnotized our kids and gave my husband and me some much appreciated alone time. The bathrooms are large with wall-to-wall mirrors. There is a washing machine, and that was a nice surprise. The kitchen is hidden on a side of the living room and complete with everything we needed. The living room is bright, has a nice view of the sky and some trees, and at night it is perfect to watch televison. In fact, the walls are very unusual for an indoor space and beautiful to look at, someone put a lot of thought in this interior design. The internet worked and was very fast. The service was prime from the start: we received fast replies to our emails both before arriving and during our stay. We were given cell phones and a laptop, and offered free personal assistance if we ever needed it. We were charged a very fair price, on the low side if I can dare to say, and there were no additional charges. As a matter of fact, we also had a cleaning lady and we were not charged for the service. I am not one to post comments on the internet, but we were perfectly happy here so we feel this lovely place deserves some words of praise and gratitude for making a tangible contribution to the quality of our stay. Stayed at this place on a recent trip to Rio and was immediately impressed with how gorgeous the apartment is. We had nothing but good things to say about the design and cleanliness of the place. There is also a cleaning lady that comes by about once every two days or so.
The location was great! Literally only one block away from arguably the best part of the beach. We were also only one block away from a lot of nice shops, and only a few minutes walk away from great restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. This is in a very safe area and at no time did we feel threatened, intimidated, or anything of that nature.
The included laptop was very useful and handy. Although they were available to us, we did not use the cell phones that were included with the apartment.
The only thing to be aware of is that this apartment is located in a residential building with only Rio residents meaning that you need to be mindful of how loud you're being and who you're bringing in and out of the building. In short, if you're going to Rio to party really hard and plan on meeting a lot of new friends and partying with them in the apartment, this might not be the place for you.
Overall this was a great experience and I highly recommend this place to others! -

We found this apartment via a friend and it worked out excellent. Hands down this apartment is great value, awesome location, and the management real good people. You can tell they really care and I'm happy to write a review for them.
The apartment is real large, has a beach feel during the day and turns into this lounge at night. It sure was a big hit with our girlfriends. Sort of ancient and mystic and modern all at the same time. Way cool. The beds are firm and big: solid sleep and I could stretch no problem, a lucky change from previous places. This was a huge plus for me since I am 6'3. There is a projector in one bedroom which is hard to resist and lots of american channels in the living room for news, and sports. The stereo connects to the DVD so we rented a few flicks and watched them in style. I totally liked the invisible kitchen. The stove-top looks like an i-Pad embedded in the marble - classy!
If it is location that you want, you got it - real top spot. Walk out the door and you are basically on the sand. Turn to the left and you have Garota de Ipanema plus all restaurants of Vinicious and Farme de amoedo. Turn to the right and you have Praca da Paz square with lots of bars, discos and the very beautiful people!! There you have shopping from fashion to Italian ice cream (gelato!), and a garden with a pond and fresh-stuff market. Even a very busy hip church. Yellow cabs and people everywhere day and night. 1-2-3 action!
Our rate included a cleaning lady and that's money well spent. I cannot think of anything to complain about especially since we paid little and received much. All in all we were treated like good friends and kept in the loop for music and sporting events. We called the staff for tickets to the Maracana and they brought them to us in literally twenty minutes. What a fantastic city, I love Rio every time more. I think one of these days I'm just not going back to the airport and I will just stay there - just watch me! -

My girlfriends and I went to Rio three times in 2009 and we stayed here twice, definitely this apartment was our favorite
Very stylish with walls covered in white stone and sculptures and there is diffuse lighting from the floors and the ceilings. We also used candles and with some music it all was just beautiful.
The location is definitely prime, we felt very safe the whole time and just across beach Posto 9 and from many famous restaurants and our delicious Zaza!
The street is busy with people and full of life day and night and trafficked in rio style so we felt this added to our safety especially when walking back at night.
The rate we paid was quite low (thank you), equivalent to one hotel room in ipanema, and there were five of us and plenty of space for all. We researched several hotels and other apartments in the area and for our budget we could not find anything comparable especially location wise, and that was very important to us.
The service was attentive and prompt, we were given local cell phones and one laptop so we could contact the staff at anytime and mostly we called to find out about restaurants or nightlife, and this made a big difference especially our first time in Rio. Also, we had a free guide both times and she took us to the islands across from Ipanema beach for a swim which was great fun and we would never had thought about it! Everything was as promised, no surprises or extra charges, and they spoke perfect English
We were happy with the whole experience and sside from the specifics of this apartment, we had a great time just based on the daily recommendations we received and they made sure we were always kept posted of the best events happening during our stay. We really felt like we had local friends hosting us and taking care of us while visiting Rio, and this made it very special. Global economy and boyfriends permitting we will go to Rio again this year and stay at this apartment for sure. All thumbs up from us! :)
