LondonFantastic Location
Left on 05/18/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The apartment location was fantastic as was our trip to Rio. Nick is a great guy, easy to deal with and did anything he could to help. He even organised transport from the airport, waiting himself for us to arrive as the flight was delayed. The apartment block was nice, much better to stay here around locals enjoying the real Rio then staying in a hotel. The air con in the bedroom was a god send, I would never have survived without it. As for the comment regards noise, we stayed her during carnival this year and when the windows were closed it was silent!!! Thanks for a great stay, we hope to come back again and explore some more.

Really glad that the apartment worked out for you Ben.I think that you got it right , Staying in an apartment is a closer experience to living in the actual city you are visiting.I value the custom of guests & hope that they
find that the price paid suits what they received in return.Good Locations in bigger cities always come at a price, so I hope that this apartment fills
the gap for a decent apartment for a decent price. -

Montreal, QC (Canada)Incredible location, steps to Ipanema and Copacabana

This apartment was ideal for our stay in Rio de Janeiro. Nicky, the owner, was extremely prompt in responding to our emails and inquiries leading up to our arrival, and even arranged transport from the airport for us.
Staying here meant paying a fraction of the prices of the mainly out-dated hotels in Copacabana, and allowed us to make coffee for ourselves every morning while watching the news. The amazing grocery store downstairs was a huge bonus, nevermind the fact that it offered a slice of real-life Rio at our doorstep.

Glasgow, United KingdomGood but dirty
Left on 08/22/2011 for a stay in March 2011
When we arrived there and saw the flat it wasn't what it seemed online. It was a bit dirty and the computer's mouse wasn't working and had to wait for a day for replacement.
Once we've stayed there for a few days, I realised that maybe the flat wasn't nice but it had a great location... it's all about balance.Response from NICKY D LEE FRANCIS - 09/03/2011
Owner
I'm sorry the guest didn't find the apartment suitable.
Nothing was mentioned about dirt when I personally shown her the
apartment before she paid the balance.
Unforetunately in renting apartments you can't please everybody.
Rio is a busy city, which accumulates dust quickly, but can assure All apartments are cleaned the same day or the day before guests arrive.
This particular guest stayed 3 days & from the email stage objected to paying cleaning fee charged on top of the daily rate for many short stay apartment rentals.
The fact that Tania complains about something as small as a mouse not working but had to wait a day for replacement,( which was in fact bought the same day, but couldn't be delivered due to guests not being home.) shows that the client is looking for things to complain about instead of doing what most would do , which is enjoy Rio de Janeiro!

This unit is absolutely value for money. It's a very cozy place, with all the modern amenities required for a comfortable stay with relative luxury on a budget. Great location, literally a 100+ meter walk from Copacabana beach and surrounded by numerous shops, banks and restaurants makes this a very convenient location to park yourself for upwards of 3 days.
Nick was an absolute delight to deal with and if anybody can entertain my paranoia, they surely deserve the business! Very timely check in/check out, gave us very sound advice and all in all, an extremely helpful person.
Security was not a concern at all. The entire complex is secure, with Cctv's on every corner (including inside the elevators) and there is a police station just across the street, so you can be assured of a safe environment. However, logic should prevail so avoid flashing around cash and other valuables like jewelry/expensive watches and you should be fine. Try to blend in, it's quite easy, even for a couple of asians like us! (mistaken to be Chilean many times).
Thoroughly enjoyed the place, highly recommend it to everybody, what's in the pictures is literally what you will you see when you arrive.
However, the pots and pans need a real good scrubbing, maybe invest in a few non-stick ones?
All in all, a true gem.Response from NICKY D LEE FRANCIS - 06/28/2011

Thanks a lot Imran for the thorough review, I never try to oversell or undersell an apartment, I try to give it a fair description so that people know exactly what they are getting. The most important thing is that you
Enjoyed your visit to Rio de Janeiro and I know that I will see you again
In The future as you are already planning your next visit. -

Nicky was very helpful before, during and after our stay and even let us use his computer for our visit. The place is close to transport, grocery shop and beaches. It is clean and comfortable. It could do with some more cutlery and a bottle opener. I would recommend this place and loved the enthusiasm and great communication from Nicky of his apartment and Rio.

SingaporeExcellent location in a safe neighbourhood

Getting to the place was just a little difficult as none of us spoke portugese but a little pointing on the map and the driver of the bus shuttle from the airport dropped us off a block from the apartment.
The location was the best feature of the apartment.Right between copacabana and ipanema beaches and just minutes away on foot. There is a lovely zona sul grocer next to the apartment block and a juice bar on the other side.
The apartment was clean and what I probably expected of a 3 star hotel. Functioning gas stove and nice bathroom, however, the utensils provided needed a good scrubbing. Internet connection via ethernet cable and cable tv with a couple of english channels.
Overall a good place to stay given the locality and proximity to the beaches. The downside for me was the traffic noise could be heard way into the night and might wake those who are light sleepers.Response from NICKY D LEE FRANCIS - 03/26/2011
Owner
Thanks for the review, I have since replaced the utensils as i think they had seen better days. And even though this apartment bedroom has silent windows & is on the 9th floor a little noise still sneaks though as it would in New york , London or any other bustling city.
I actually had a guest stay here who had her friend visit who was staying at a nearby hotel a few doors down & had stated that this apartment was more quiet than his hotel & almost half the price.
so bear this in mind travellers.
