It is quite difficult for travellers to resist the unique charm of the city's eighty kilometres of beaches. Framed by the wavy black and white mosaics of Avenida Atlântica, the neighbourhood of Copacabana is one of the reasons for this fascination. There are two separate beaches in the district of Copacabana: Leme beach, a very nice and exclusive neighbourhood (one kilometre) and Copacabana, (about three kilometres). Avery active are during night and day, the beach is surrounded by beautiful kiosks, a bicycle path and racks, lifeguard posts, public showers and bathrooms, a large amount of hotels and residential buildings (the biggest part), nice and cozy bars and open-air restaurants. The Military Forts at each end are open to visitors, offering panoramic views and a lot of activities.

At the world famous district of Copacabana (the most famous neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro and one of the most famous I the world) Rentals Rio offers a large portfolio of vacation rentals.   Myself and 3 friends stayed for a week in this penthouse in February 2013. While not beachfront, it is in a great location - about a five minute walk to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, and in a central location to explore the whole south zone of the city. The condo had plenty of room for the four of us, with four sizable bedrooms, each with their own full bathroom, and two half baths. The deck on the top floor was also a great place to cook out and relax. In addition, the staff at Rio accomodations was incredibly helpful and easy to deal with. The whole experience was great. We would stay here again without a doubt.
