Wonderful Stay at Rio Mar Ocean Villa
We had a wonderful experience working with Beatrice and staying in her beautiful villa. The unit was very nice and beautifully decorated, and the location/views are amazing. The area feels "remote" but is a short distance from grocery stores, restaurants, and activities. I would highly recommend working with Beatrice if you are looking for a resort in Rio Mar.
Sherwood Park, Canada
This property is a private villa on the same property as the Wyndham Rio Grande Resort - a very short walk from the villa. This 1100sq ft villa had plenty of room for the 5 of us - 2 parents, 1 young adult and two teen sons. The location to the pools/hot tub and beac could not have been better - in fact it was the best I have ever experienced on a beach holiday. Having a full kitchen was a bonus with sons that were active and always hungry. There was a washer and dryer as well which was handy as we did not book additional cleaning service during our stay. This property was very easy to get to from the San Juan airport and Beatrice gives awesome directions. We rented a car and it was no problem getting around Puerto Rico - caution as if you're driving in busy city conditions was needed though. Location to attractions and other public beaches was easy from this property - only minutes away to market shopping or outlet shopping and grocery stores. Our favorite restuarant for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine was Richie's just up the hill from the resort. The beach in front of the unit is by far better than the public beaches - only draw back was too few loungers for the guests to use. Waves were awesome to play in. Golfing at the resort was awesome, according to my guys. There is a special Resort rate for guests. Lots a iguana's just lounging on the greens. Iguana Pub on the resort, Golf Clubhouse, was very good - very slow but very good. Give yourself lots of time if you plan to eat there. Bacardi Rum Factory free tour was interesting; enjoyed to history at the San Cristoal Castille; loved the shopping in Old San Juan - had a delicious Jamaican lunch at Blessed Cafe there. Tried to go to Culebra but after a harried early morning getting to the port of Fajardo and standing in line, the ferry was sold out. That was a huge disappointment for us as we really wanted to snorkel and that is really the only place to snorkle. No good snorkling spots were found on the island by us. Went deep sea fishing with Captain Luis Iglesia and 1st Mate Ivan very rough seas and we got stumped - no fish. It was an experience that we'll likely not repeat. All in all it was a terrific family holiday and we throughly enjoyed the comfy villa and the resort.
Fantastic place to stay!!
This condo was exactly as ordered, steps away from our own beach, magnificent view and location for eveything we wanted to do.Down the hill to hike the rainforest, horseback riding,5 min drive to beautiful Luquillo beach and delicious food, less than 1/2 hour to Fajardo for Bio Bay and snorkel trips.Beatrice gives great suggestions and directions. We did not step foot in the near the hotel,no need. She answered any questions super fast. Our only regret was not staying longer!
We owned the beach
You know what they say about "location"? The only thing separating this apartment from the ocean is about 100 feet of patio and swimming pools! Great views all day, and a one minute walk into the waves. The breeze from the water was refreshing enough that we slept with open windows a few times. You can hear the coqui frogs all night. Unfortunately there is a garage below the unit and in the mornings we could smell car exhaust.
The kids loved the infinity pool within view of our balcony, and we all enjoyed walking a little down the beach to find a full size pool that was all ours for several days. Maybe we were a little early for spring break because the condo development was pretty empty except for a few other families from NJ and ma.
The apartment had some minor issues but were addressed so quickly and professionally that I was a bit embarrassed that I had even mentioned them. Perfect size for a family of four. Kitchen is small but all that you really need. We actually prepared meals at the apartment more than we went out to eat.
One silly highlight for us: my 8 year old daughter found coconuts fallen from a tree so we spent a good part of one afternoon to crack one open!
A great getaway, super low stress.
Best view and location
This is a very, very large 1 br. villa. Very clean, new furniture and a very comfortable king bed. The ocean is so close and the trade winds are very soothing. That is all you hear! We never heard any neighbors shut doors, talk or any noise at all. The pool in front of the villa is almost private-we only saw another couple a few times. It's so peaceful yet steps away to the main hotel pool with music, activities, bar, etc. We did go to the main pool everyday, our kids loved the slide, games, etc. it's only a 4 min. walk. My 3 yr old did it everyday, no problem. I have traveled to many places in Puerto Rico, from villas to hotel rooms from El conquistador all the way to Rincon. ..and these are the reasons I will return to this villa..1) the air conditioning works really well. 2) so does the hot water and every appliance 3) parking is free and easy 4) this is a very secure, gated resort 5) pool is clean, beach is cleaned everyday and very safe water/waves ...these are all issues I have delt with in the past at other vaction rentals/resorts in PR.
Relaxing, family oriented environment
We had to two resort rooms, one for myself and my husband and one for our teenage children. The atmosphere was extremely pleaseant and relaxing and conducive for quality family time. The rooms were very clean and modern. The food and non-alcoholic drinks at the resort's restaurants and bars were a little expensive but the service at each was exceptional. Also, our rooms were cleaned each day. As for excursions, we rented a car and saved a great deal on the excursions as we booked directly with the tour companies. Booking through the resort was a little pricey. Overall, the vacation was wonderful, relaxing and we spent quite a bit of quality time with our teenagers. We would definitely vacation there again
