London UKNever ever want to leave!!!
Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This is the third time I have stayed here and every time I leave to spend a few days in San Juan I wonder why oh why didn't I book the whole holiday here!! This is paradie on earth, it is really hard to know where to begin:
1. the location: perfectly located to explore the rainforest, local attractions, zip-lining, horse back riding, teh 50 food shacks, and Luquillo, one of my absolute favourite beaches in Puerto Rico.
2. The setting: A completely 100% private property overlooking the mountainside with a view directly to the beach (albeit down the mountain - I saw someone contested there was a sea view. Not so, you definitely have a view but it is from the rain forest which obviousy is up a mountain, not on the beach! That should be obvious...).Anyway, the whole house is surrounded by thoroughly lush greenery and two if the roopms have amazing outdoor bathroom balconies so you can take a shower or bath basically outside in teh rainforet. Wonderful.
3. The house: extremely spacious, warmly decorated house with lots of places for a large group to relax, together or separately, Especially love the three hammocks looking down the mountainside.
4. The Pool: Just look at the pictures. A big pool with great seating area with a view that simply cannot be beat.
5. The owners: Greg and Linda (and Carmen and Brenda...and everyone else who helped take care of us), could not have been nicer, warmer or more welcoming.
6. Things to know: This is a house in the rain forest so you have to be comfortable with lizards, huge snails, a few spiders and bugs,as well as the outdoors coming in (ie leaves from the rainforest do fall in the pool, but that is to be expected...)
Conclusion: I could stay here forever and I will always come back here whenever I return to PR. You have everything you need in the house and nearby to be able to use this as a base for exploring, or simply to stay here and never leave!
Thank you Villa Loma Sol and see you next year!!!

This is my third stay at Lomasol and for sure will not be my last. The owners have improved the property with a refurbished wooden deck that invites you to sit and enjoy the view; specially the sunsets...
For those who love to be in contact with mother nature at all times this is the place.
This time we did not go out to eat, just stayed at the house and cooked all our meals.
Perfect for an "after tax season" relaxation spot... -

Our time at Lomasol was pretty magical. The place is gorgeous: look at all the photos of the rooms to get some idea, but as many others have written, it is much more beautiful than the site shows. The integration of the house with the natural environment is very special. the pool and jacuzzi are set on a hilltop, and you can just spent lots of time there, enjoying the hilltop breezes. Each room is unique and the whole house has a terrific feeling.
The house was well maintained. In addition, Greg and Linda, the owners, are super helpful. They recommended excellent places to eat and where to go/what to do. We felt in good hands, and will return if we can. -

These guests complained from the very moment they arrived and nothing we could do, and we did a lot, would please them.. We don't find much truth in what they say. I hope this silly and extremely nasty review is just ignored by prospective guests. Please read our other reviews, which are really positive, we have a lovely place that most people enjoy, many of our guests stay here year after year. Such malicious reviews are part o being in business, I guess. We have to live with such guests. We certainly wish they had not come here. Take a careful look at the views and photos on our website, they are not at all misleading. I insist that we are very, very, very courteous to almost all of our guests, it takes a lot for us to walk away from someone, someone who is being rude and nasty.

This is our fourth stay at Loma Sol, and as mentioned we never want to leave, we keep returning to this spot for a reason. The home is breathtaking as are the spectacular views and ammenities. The home is well maintained and we were well taken care of by Brenda.
The ppol and jaccuzi were well used by all of us. We brought my parents from Switzerland and our two teenage daughters. We will be returning in the summer for a longer stay, since 8 days was not close to long enough. Thank you to Linda and Greg, the homeowners, for making our stay(s) possible, wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else:)
El Verde bar down the road has to have the greatest food in the world and for the best price, really miss that place too. This is an absolutely must stay at place, thumbs up all the way, over and over!!! -

Stayed there with a group of 7, from 3 years old to 78. It's a lovely house in a somewhat suburban gated community. Views to the see, lovely garden, nice pool. It's a great location, close to a nice beach, bioluminescent bay, rain forest, and not too far from San Juan. You will need to drive to the beach - too far to walk.
Our contact was Chad, who was always available and extremely helpful with anything we needed - recommendations, directions, booking tours, etc. The owner also organized a chef for us, who cooked us dinner every night. Highly recommended!
As with any property, there are things to improve - furniture could probably be refreshed, kitchen could have more glasses. But these are relatively minor. The driving directions we got were not very helpful, but we called Chad and he walked us turn by turn until we got to the place. -

If you're looking for a quiet social house for friends or family, this is the place. The house must be seen to believed. Beautiful views, lush foliage and close to the touristy areas of the island. The house is kept very well, always clean and inviting. We will be back! Thanks to you Linda and staff for a wonderful stay.

Boston, MassachusettsAmazing Destination
Left on 04/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011
My family visited Villa Loma Sol during February vacation- and we will be back next year! The pictures truly don't do it justice. It is an amazing property located right on the edge of the rainforest and a 10 minute drive to some of the most pristine beaches on the island.
The house has everything you need to make yourself feel at home. There's a full kitchen, a stainless steel grill, and a grocery store 10 minutes away. There are 5 bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a large dining room, and a patio with 3 comfortable hammocks. There's a constant breeze in the mountains, so the doors and windows can be left open day and night. The pool and hot tub are 50 feet from the house and have unbelievable views of the mountainside and ocean.
The house easily accommodated the eight of us with room to spare. We are an active group and had no trouble keeping ourselves entertained- we visited several of the popular local beaches (10-15 min drive), went sailing out of the small port of Fajardo (20 mins), went horseback riding (10 mins), hiked to a large waterfall within the rainforest (30 mins), and took a ferry to the island of Culebra (day trip). For us, it was the perfect balance of being active during the day and retiring to our our mountainside retreat to BBQ and lounge during the afternoon and evening. We spent a full day just relaxing by the pool and hot tub, taking in the breathtaking views.
It was refreshing to get away from the cookie cutter resorts. The owner was on-call if we needed him and a maid cleaned the house every morning- but we had the flexibility to make our own itinerary, cook our own meals when we pleased, and relax away from the crowds. This was our first trip to Puerto Rico- if you're looking for a magnificent house, beautiful views, and easy access to a wide variety of activities, Villa Loma Sol is a great choice! We'll be back next year!!! -

My Family and I spent 14 days at Villa Loma Sol during the holidays with two other families. We had 6 adults and 5 children and the house was plenty big enough to accommodate us all. Overall the stay was OK, but not truly what we'd hoped for. The entire house runs on propane and during our stay it ran out, no cooking, no hot water etc. Small issue but an inconvenience since we had to go out for dinner. Also the hot tub's pump broke and we went almost the entire vacation without the hot tub. The pool is not heated and up in the mountains the water gets cold, the kids only got in once. We also brought the Wii for our children to play and it would not work with the TV in the house, ended up renting one from rent a center. For the amount of money we spent on this house I wish we had stayed at a nice resort.
Response from Villa Loma Sol - 01/07/2011
Owner
We were aware of these issues and did everything we could within our power to address them. The propane ran out in the morning and within three hours of the phone call, they were refilled. I am available 24/7 for clients while they are there. The jacuzzi broke on Christmas Eve Day, and while we were there troubleshooting it immediately, a jacuzzi repairman was needed and due to the holidays could not get anyone in until the Monday. It was fixed within 24 hours. The pump was not the problem- the repairman said he suspected that horseplay and jumping around in the jacuzzi had caused the problem, but regardless of the reason the important thing was getting it fixed as fast as possible. It was down for 5 days - 4 of which were holidays. The pool is not heated as Puerto Rico generally is 80-90 degrees on a daily basis. However, the entire two weeks the guests stayed there the weather was cold, rainy, and stormy and regularly 70 degrees.
The clients were aware of the television in advance because the kids like wii so much and I even quoted the cost and found them the rental center in advance of their arrival.
This is a wonderful, unique home and we want to make sure your vacation experience is uninhibited. If you have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to address your questions. -

Carmen was a wonderful hostess. Upon arriving in Puerto Rico she gave our group precise directions to the office where we arrived and she welcomed us with a wonderful tropical drink.
The property sits at the foot hills of the rainforest. It is a gorgeous Spainish Hacienda. There were five couples on the trip with each one having there own bedroom. The kitchen was perfect for making our own meals with all the required cookware. There was also and out door grill near the pool. The hottub worked the first night but required maintenance after that. Carmen apologized and refunded a portion of the rental. The dining room was decorated as if we were in a spainish fortress. Wrought iron windows and chandelers. Murials painted on the walls the dining room table 20 foot in length with Hand crafted kings chairs.
My bedroom had an outside bathroom and shower with beutiful mozaic tile and plenty of privacy.
The view of the ocean from the terrace and pool were breathtaking. Living in this house for 4 days in the foothills of a rainforest could not be more thraputical. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a stress free vacation. -

As long as I can I will reserve at least one weekend per year; if possible two, for a stay at Lomasol. I checked in a Friday afternoon and didn't leave the place until Sunday. The most relaxing local vacation.
Highly recommended for both locals and visitors...

Our family spent several days at Villa Loma Sol for our daughter's wedding. Having been in Puerto Rico before, we were familar with the island. However, we were not prepared for the magnificient view and accomodations of Villa Loma del Sol.
We espcially enjoyed the swimming pool - placed high on the property with a view of the rain forest and ocean-- for morning coffee and evening cocktails. The entire home is very "spanish" -- large inviting ourdoor veranda, iron front gate, and large murals of the rain forest in the spacious dining room.
The master bedroom suite is private and elegant. The detached, screened, mango bedroom with it's bathroom that overhangs the cliff and rain forest is unique and allowed us to enjoy the frog symphony that follows an afternoon rain.
We will definitely return to this property. Staying there, one is separated from the busy cities and tourist crowds of the coast -- but still conveniently located to the beaches and Old San Juan (a must see). We absolutely saw no property in the area that could compare. -

I've been to Puerto Rico many times, but this was the first time for my family. They were coming for my wedding. We decided to stay at Loma Sol because it was much more charming (additionally, I had already fallen in love with the site when I had first visited) than staying at a hotel or resort. The outdoor bathrooms did help too. Where else can you REALLY be one with nature? We had all the amenities that we could ever need, great daily service (love the two Carmens), a spectacular view, and each other. What more can we ask for?
The days leading up to the wedding were spent exploring the near by attractions: El Yunque, Loquillo Beach, Old San Juan, Fajardo (Glass bottom biobay tour), and simply lounging around listening to the Coquis. Every morning, very early on in the day, we were greeted with rhythmic rain showers from El Yunque. It was amazing. The showers passed by the time the entire house had awaken, but it left such a great smell of earth and nature. Afternoons and evenings were spent splashing in the pool, lounging on the comfty hammocks, and just having fun. We had people of all ages from 1 to 56 years of age, and everyone loved Loma.
Wedding day was amazing. One hour before getting into my wedding dress, I was actually swimming around in the pool. There were so many beautiful sites at Loma to take pictures.
We love Loma so much and will be returning in the near future. Enjoy this romantic getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay. I went with a group of friends and we had the time of our lives! It was beautiful and peaceful and you just felt at peace with everything. We really did not want to leave and are already planning when we can go back. The outside showers are a must!! You will get addicted and then miss it! We had our Thanksgiving dinner together as a family and we really did create some beautiful memories. You must remember that you are in a rain forest so you will see many different types of bugs and insects but take it from me ( I hate bugs) you will not mind in the least bit. I beyond recommend it for anyone who wants to have a restful relaxing vacation.

I rented the Villa Loma Sol because my daughter was getting married at the Hacienda Siesta Alegre. I used the Villa as home base for my family and friends. The villa is unbelievable, roomy and very private. Maid service was great, the Villa was cleaned up every morning after our partying the night before. I would recommend this as the place to stay for anyone getting married in Puerto Rico.

I stayed here with my family based on the recommendation of a friend and it was fantastic! I plan to return next year. The house has so many unique details - each bedroom is so unique we had trouble deciding which one to take. In addition, the bathrooms that are inside but have the open air showers was so exciting- it felt like we were the only people in the world and were showering in the middle of the rainforest. It was so peaceful with amazing views and the sunsets were gorgeous. We had a rental car and it was close to everything we wanted to do. The service was fantastic - we really appreciated all of Carmen's advice and assistance- she really took great care of us. My kids loved the pool and the TV with video games and DVD and loved the hammocks on the porch. But the dining room with the rainforest murals was such a big hit with everyone in the family. We really enjoyed some great family meals. We had 10 people with us and this house was perfect and divided up - the rate was a really good deal. Thank you so much and we can't wait to return!
