Dog Friendly / Internet / Spa Just Listed ~ Redwood Canyon is a place of rest and renewal -- a modern river retreat. A two-story house nestled along a hillside, with views of redwoods outside every window. Though the shade can offer a welcomed respite from the heat, there is full sun on the upper deck, and more spills in through the skylights above the upstairs dining and living areas. Walk less than 1/4 mile to the river in Rio Nido, or travel less than 2 miles to the famed Johnson's Beach in Guerneville, or 3.5 miles to Sunset Beach River Park (a Sonoma County Regional Park). Among all of the redwood trees, there is a vibrant bird popu...lation that makes for melodious mornings and sometimes unique species sightings.
The house itself is lovely and has been lovingly redone. There are wood, cork and tile floors throughout, tasteful colors and artwork adorn the walls, and comfortable mattresses and furniture complete the environment set for a stay full of relaxation, fun and rejuvenation. The front door leads into the upstairs level, which contains the kitchen, dining room, living room, half bath and the laundry room. The living room has high ceilings, skylights, a wood pellet stove and a flat screen TV with cable and a DVD Player. Sliding doors off the living room open to a sunny and private side deck with gas BBQ and picnic table for outdoor meals. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, tableware, coffee maker, toaster, blender, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, and other major appliances. The dining table, set in front of a large window overlooking the redwood trees, comfortably seats 6 or more.
A stairway just off the dining room leads down to the lower level, which contains 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. All bedrooms have comfortable beds (see below for bed sizes) and full-sized closets. The master bedroom has an en suite bath and sliding glass doors that lead to the lower deck and dog run. The lower deck is shaded by the upper deck and the large hot tub sits in a private location.
Redwood Canyon welcomes dog visitors. A dog door leads from the master bedroom to the lower deck, and a nice sized fully-fenced in yard. Prior dog residents have spent many hours perched out on this deck listening to the sounds of nature and the neighborhood.
About Rio Nido
Just down the hill is the Rio Nido Roadhouse, from where music will waft up in the evenings -- rock, jazz, blues, reggae and other music from live bands that play on the outside stage during the summertime; the music is always over at 10pm. There's also a swimming pool (day pass costs $7) out in the full sun, surrounded on the outskirts by redwoods. The Roadhouse offers water aerobics, and has a separate pool for the younger children.
Rio Nido houses a dog park and the Bruno Farnocchia playground and tennis court between Canyon 7 Road and Rio Nido Road. On weekends in the summertime, there's also a small-scale Pee Wee Golf in Rio Nido, just around the corner down the hill from Redwood Canyon. Korbel Champagne Cellars is less than 1.5 miles away, and the Stumptown Brewery is half that distance.
Rio Nido has a rich history of bands, community gatherings, and summer festivities. Get to know a bit of history or current happenings on the community website at RioNido.net

It was great. Everybody was very helpful. The house was perfect for what I needed. I was helping my aunt move who lived in the canyon. I wanted to have a place where we would all could have a great place to stay in the redwoods. We will be back. Tell our friends about it as well.As well as who ever reads this.
Peaceful Redwoods Retreat

This was the perfect place for a weekend getaway from the city. The redwoods are spectacular and can be enjoyed from the large deck. The river was just a short hike away. Enjoying some Russian River Pinot in the Jacuzzi on the lower deck was a great way to end the sun filled, relaxing day. Highly recommend!
Comfortable, relaxing place to stay.

I have stayed at this house several times over the last few years and it is a very comfortable and relaxing home. The outdoor decks are very pleasant and it is lovely among the redwoods. The house has lots of little cozy touches and the jacuzzi on the lower deck is a great way to end the day. The location is terrific as it feels very private but is just a short distance away from restaurants, nightlife and outdoor activities.
