This spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom waterfront home, Sonrisa del Sol, comes with optional access to a captained sailboat! Our property manager will arrange transportation for you from the airport and will welcome you to the house. Enjoy your own private beach and sundeck, as you savor the warm tropical breezes. You can swim right off the beach or snorkel and dive the nearby reefs. Ten minutes will see you in the local supermarket or a nearby restaurant. If your passion is golf, you're only ten minutes away from a fine golf course.

Designed to take advantage of the almost constant trade winds, this two-story beachfront home offers lo...uvered glass windows, cathedral ceilings on the second floor and ceiling fans throughout. The air-conditioned master bedroom is located on the second floor; it offers a queen bed, an additional futon, and a spacious en-suite bathroom. The air-conditioned second bedroom is on the ground floor; it also has an en-suite bathroom and its own private deck.

Enjoy sunning, relaxing and entertaining on the huge second-floor deck. Or laze in a hammock on the large shady balcony outside the first-floor bedroom. At the boathouse, bask on the sun deck, and use the dock for swimming and boating. A small beach awaits your sand-loving toes.... Just a few steps and you're in the waters of the Caribbean Sea!

Captain Alberto (whose 42 ft. sailboat is docked on the property) can arrange SCUBA trips for certified divers... and fishing and snorkeling trips for everyone. Ready to head back to the casa? An outside shower provides a quick rinse following your saltwater adventures.

Sonrisa del Sol comfortably accommodates two couples with their own bedrooms and bathrooms. Additional sleeping facilities are available for up to three more guests. Roatan, the dolphin-shaped island 30 miles off the Caribbean coast of mainland Honduras, seems to “have it all.” Mild temperatures, crystalline blue-green waters, world-class diving and snorkeling – combined with easy air access from the U.S. and Europe – make Roatan a water-lover's paradise.

Sonrisa del Sol - which means “Smile of the Sun” - is less than five minutes by boat from the world's second-longest barrier reef. While on Roatan, in addition to snorkeling and diving, you can also satisfy your desires to swim or dive with dolphins, dive with sharks, go bone-fishing or deep-water angling. Whether you choose to sail with Captain Alberto, take nearby land or water tours, or kick back and simply renew your body's stores of Vitamin D, Sonrisa del Sol provides a relaxed “home base” for you and your party.

Only 2 1/2 hours from Houston, Roatan is served by non-stop flights from several airports. On your arrival, Sonrisa del Sol's representative will meet you and take you to your island home, stopping for groceries on the way if you wish. To assure availability, we can arrange various tours prior to your departure. At the end of your stay, we will transfer you back to the airport, where you will say farewell to your Caribbean Getaway until your next visit!

Sailing trips are a special feature of this accommodation. If you know you will be interested, a package arranged at the time of booking the house (see below) will give you the benefit both of availability and of a preferred rate.

A car is recommended for island travel; Captain Alberto can arrange land tours for groups who prefer using a reliable guide/driver for explorations.

Multi-lingual Captain Alberto can arrange sailing, diving, and fishing tours to neighboring islands and special land packages on Roatan or Mainland Honduras.
Whale shark diving/snorkeling, luxury sailing and VIP packages are examples of other packages that can be arranged.

* Sailing portion of all packages includes Snacks, Beverages and Meals, as well as use of boat and services of captain.

NOTE: Due to the increasing cost of electricity in Roatan, all packages and rentals carry an electricity surcharge of $0.50/kwh of usage. With normal use, this can result in an additional cost of $5-$10 per day.

  I stayed at this place twice. Both times it was with a mixture of both friends and family and both times it was a fantastic experience! The place is nestled off the beaten path, but is mid-island so both ends of the island are easily accessible depending on your mood that day and whether you are up for a little touristy party day on the west end or some quiet solitude exploring the east end. However, the house is right on the water, right across from Fantasy Island resort, so we did not travel very often, as we could easily swim across the little bay and go diving or snorkeling or lay on the beach or get a drink and relax. I have been fortunate to dive at several locations around the world, and the diving here is as good as any other place I have been, without at doubt. Even the snorkeling off of Fantasy Island is really good.
  
  The house was perfect for our needs. There were 4 or 5 of us on each trip and the rooms are big and spacious with all the necessary amenities. It's bedrooms are on different floors which is perfect if there are couples on the trip looking for some quiet time away from the group. All the porches on the place really make the place perfect for hanging out and talking and having drinks.
  
  If you looking for place without all the distractions of your typical tourist destination, a place that will allow you to really connect with the island and allow you to spend real quality time with the folks you are traveling with, then this place would be a excellent choice. I look forward to going again sometime...soon hopefully!
