The Jiveshack has a l bedroom/1bathroom apartment with a large porch, full equipped kitchen with new appliances, fridge/freezer, stove/oven, washer/dryer, diningroom, breakfast/cooking island, queen bed in private bedroom with closet storage and large bathroom. The Jiveshack has patio chairs, hammock, all linens, towels and kitchen utensils. Propane BBQ for your use. 200 yards from the community marina where you can park your boat. Snorkel equipment and top of the line sea kayak is included. Security bars, alarm system and caretaker. TV/DVD player... and numerous catalogued DVDs and CDs. Loaner cell phone can be easily uploaded for your stay. High speed satellite Internet service for your laptop is available through use of a Claro USB port stick. Fans, cool tradewinds and gorgeous lush landcaping on the 2/3 acre property. Quiet, serene, natural and tranquil environment. If you are looking for touristy, nightclubs and partying then the West end of the island is for you. (ie. West End, West Bay and Sandy Bay). Roatan boasts the best coral reef in the Western Hemisphere, easily accessible by swimming or kayaking for first class snorkelling at Punta Blanca's "Wonderland". We have travelled every country in Central America and Mexico and have chosen Roatan as our place of paradise. The community of Punta Blanca is at the east end of Roatan island, located on the north shore with stunning coral reefs easily accessible by our two seater kayak, boat or swimming. Many parts of the reef are so shallow that you can walk around to get your bearings when you need to. The ex-pats and Honduran families (caretakers of properties in Punta Blanca) are lovely, friendly, kind and helpful people. All the dogs in PB have been spayed or neutered and are well fed and loved. They are valued members of our community and serve as excellent watch dogs. Punta Blanca is easy to find. Roatan is an island 36 miles long and 1-5 miles wide. Here are the directions to Jiveshack in Punta Blanca:
drive 16 miles east of the Roatan International Airport. Leave the airport and turn right. There is only one highway east to west on the island. Continue east through the town of French Harbour, continue on the winding roads with panoramic mountain/ocean views. Keep going and you will see Jonesville on the right side of the road. Continue on and the sign for Oak Ridge is on the right side of the road. Continue going straight and the pavement part of the highway will end. You will see numerous signs posted directly in front of you with arrows pointing right to Diamond Rock, Marble Hills farms, Paya Bay and Camp Bay. Turn right and take this road up a paved section to gravel. You will see Roy Mart (closed) on your right. Continue on for about ½ mile and you will see the entrance to Punta Blanca with a sign and two concrete pillars on your left. Enter Punta Blanca and continue down the road until you can see the ocean. Always bear right. You have come about ½ miles from the entrance. You will see a brightly coloured turquoise octagonal house on your right with the upper parking area and our Jiveshack sign. You have arrived.
Activities close to Punta Blanca: swimming, snorkelling/diving, sailing, sightseeing, restaurants, shopping (Oak Ridge, French Harbour, Los Fuertes, Coxen Hole and West End), restaurants, golf (Black Pearl -lst class), hiking, fishing, zoo, boating, kayakingcanopy tours, horseback riding, iguana and butterfly farm, tennis at Fantasy Island and swim with dolphins.
It is highly recommended that you rent a 4x4 especially during rainy season to have full and easy access to all spots on the island. We have used an economy car on all our visits and had to be very careful. Not advised during rainy season.

  'Jiveshack' is located in a community called 'Punta Blanca' about one mile beyond the end of the paved road. Gps coordinates are: N16.41790, W86.35234.
  
  It is a two level house with separate upper and lower level 'apartments'. The upstairs has all the amenities you would find at home. The deck is about 200 sqft, has a couple of chairs, a hammock and a barbecue.
  
  Downstairs is where the owners of Jiveshack live while they are on the island. Laura and Paul are the nicest, kindest, most generous people you are likely to meet. They welcomed me into their home with great enthusiasm and after my stay I consider them two of my closest friends. They helped me get settled, arranged for a car and generally made the entire stay a very pleasurable experience. It should be noted that Paul is a magician with the barbecue and an expert guitar player!
  
  Jiveshack is a stepping off point for those wishing to explore the non-touristy part of the island but to do so you must have personal transportation. The road east of Punta Blanca is unpaved and can be rough. A car is ok but in wet weather a high clearance pickup would be much better.
  
  About a 15 min drive west from Punta Blanca are quality sand beaches ('Turquoise Bay' and 'Palm Beach') as is possibly the very best restaurant ever: 'Temporary Cals'.
  
  Jiveshack has security bars on the windows and doors. The reality is that Honduras is a third world country, with extremes in living conditions present all over the island. The bars are there to deter those who might have less than honorable intentions towards the material goods of others.
  
  This was my fourth trip to Roatan, but the first one that allowed me to truly experience the culture of the island and the day to day life of its residents (both ex-pats and locals).
