Description from the owner
Looking for high-end accommodations in West End? Look no further—our beachfront villa on Half Moon Bay offers the authentic Roatán experience, plus all the amenities you’d expect from an upscale resort.
We’ve designed each room to be a retreat in itself. The villa boasts four spacious bedrooms, three of which have in-suite bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms have views of the Caribbean, and all four have their own flat-screen TVs. The master bedroom is especially luxurious, with vaulted hardwood ceilings and floors and a private balcony that looks out over both Half Moon Bay and the Caribbean. Each room is decorated in an eco-spa st...Read more

Additional Location Information
Coral Vista Villas are 15 minutes from the airport, a 5 minute water taxi from West Bay Beach and about 100 yards from the heart of West End Village. From our home, you have a short walk to a surprisingly eclectic array of restaurants, multiple dive shops, several bars, a couple of convenience stores and more. Or, if the Caribbean is calling you more than the Thai food or a cold Salva Vida, you can literally snorkel or dive the reefs just offshore.

new yorkNot for families with small children
Left on 01/23/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We were seven adults and two small children (1 and 3). We stayed for two weeks in two different villas. in villa one, the master bedroom was very nice and comfortable. The three other bedrooms had smaller than average queen size beds which we found uncomfortable. The rest of the house was big enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked with necessary gadgets and appliances. There are lots of tv's and electronics which we really did not make much use of. Internet access in this villa was excellent.
We stayed in villa three for a week and found this house to be lacking. The furnishings were old and sagging. The kitchen needs better quality equipment and we had an issue with insects Both homes have three bedrooms which face the back bay with lots of local homes, loud noise, barking dogs and music at night.
The main problems with both homes are the pool and balcony railings. The pools adjoin the balcony and there are no protections from falling in. The balcony railings are widely spaced and a small child could easily fall thru, constant vigilance was always necessary.
The beach at west end is small and less than pristine. The beach is only cleaned when cruise ships arrive. Dogs roam this beach leaving their business behind. Cruise ship visitors arrive in large groups, crowd the beach and make for an unpleasant experience. Roatan is a beautiful place to visit with many beautiful beaches and places to stay like Lands End and Cocolobo. The homes at Coral Vista are expensive, less than ideally located and not a place that I would return to.Response from Dennis Hoffman - 01/25/2013
Owner
As the new owner of Villa 1 (purchased in the summer of 2012), we're glad the reviewer enjoyed the portion of their stay in our home. We obviously cannot comment on their experience in Villa 3 as we don't own that home.
As for the reviewer's other areas of concern:
1. we are in the process of upgrading the queen beds in the two upstairs bedrooms to kings. We have completed the master bedroom upgrade.
2. the patio and pool are separated from the interior space by a lockable, sliding glass door. If the guest decides to leave that door open, then children under 3 absolutely require supervision on the patio near the pool - as they would around any pool.
3. West End is a village and neighborhood. We think it offers a more authentic Roatan vacation experience and agree with our guest that total peace and quiet and perfectly manicured beaches are better found in a gated resort environment. It's a matter of preference.
This is the Caribbean, and the reality of Cruise Ship days, music at night, noise from the neighbors and their pets comes with the territory.
The vast majority of our guests find Coral Vista to be ideally located in the heart of West End and a fantastic value as our other reviews suggest. -

Left on 12/02/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We were a party of six - three couples sharing the home. The house was well equipped, and could have easily accommodated another couple. Furnishings excellent, three balconies, nice kitchen. Excellent apple based entertainment system. Good location steps away from the beach and snorkeling.

Left on 02/26/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Not having ever booked sight unseen before, and doing so for 7 other people, I was a little worried,as I have always relied on friends word of mouth. 8 of us spent the second week of our holiday at this wonderful home. It was just perfect. A real home away from home. I would recommend this rental to anyone. No car needed..Walking distance to just about everything or a minute walk to hail a cab(cheap).. The bay is so beautiful. Water warm, great snorkling and swimming. Shopping, bars, scuba shops and restaurants a couple minutes stroll anyway! Next time we want to stay longer! Thanks for letting us stay! Oh ,Liz from the rental company is a doll!

Soddy Daisy, TnBeautiful house perfect location
Left on 06/07/2010 for a stay in June 2010
This being our first trip to Roatan weren't sure what to expect. However any doubts we had were all gone when we entered your beautiful home. Liz was a huge help when checking in. My Dad had recently had a heart attack and she was so helpful when explaining how to call the states. Everything you could want or need was available. The Honduran wood floors and ceiling were lovely. However I think we spent most of our time on the patio which had breath taking views of Half Moon Bay and the Caribbean Sea. We did have a driver take us on a tour of the island. But most of our time was spent scuba diving, sitting on the patio or exploring West End. We were within walking distance to restaurants, dive shops and grocery stores. Never rented a car or rode in a taxi. Saved us lots of $$$.
The only problem we encountered was one week isn't enough time. Next time will be for two weeks!! If your looking for a fabulous place in Roatan don't hesitate it's perfect! -

Alexandria, VirginiaRoatan is great - this location excellent
Left on 06/03/2010 for a stay in May 2010
The local property manager lives very close by and is delightful - we saw her every morning walking her dog and taking her daughter to school - she was extremely helpful in stocking the house with provisions so we didn't need to spend a day grocery shopping - very reasonable. Had one small issue with the aC unit that she was able to have repaired quickly and easily and the guys came back twice to make sure it was ok. The location is ideal. We split 2 houses between an extended family of 18 (ages 21-58) and had the perfect balance of solitude and group activities - each room has it's own balcony - but often, with folks snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, etc the main veranda was the place to read and be quiet yet sociable. Steps from the beach, minutes to shops, dive shops, restaurants, etc - I see no downside to this rental facility. We had a great time and will return for sure.
