Windows on the Sea sits directly on the beach in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. Rockaway Beach is on Highway 101, the Pacific Coast Highway, 1 hour and 45 minutes from Portland via the scenic Highway 6 following the Wilson River to Tillamook. From Tillamook, Rockaway is a 20-minute drive north on Highway 101. Windows on the Sea is a brand new condo in a small complex 2 miles north of the town center.
Rockaway Beach is a sleepy, old fashioned little beach town. It's a quiet place with a half dozen restaurants and as many shops. Recreational options include crabbing, clam digging, fishing,hiking, kite flying, surfing, storm and whale watching, great beach combing, and fun events year round.
This part of the coast is rich with charming towns to explore.
The historic town of Wheeler, famous for its antique shops, is on Nehalem Bay just 7.5 miles to the north. The hamlet of Nehalem featuring a winery and several galleries is 10 miles north, and the beautiful village of Manzanita, 12 miles north, offers great dining, shops, and horseback riding.
Garibaldi is 5 miles south of Rockaway and hosts a Maritime museum and myrtlewood factory, along with a pier and marina with everything you need for crabbing and clam digging on Tillamook Bay.
Tillamook, the county seat, is 15 miles south and is well known for its tourable Tillamook Cheese and Blue Heron Cheese companies, the Tillamook Air Museum, Cape Lookout State Park, and the beautiful Three Capes scenic drive.

We were so impressed with the condo. There is everything you could possibly need from dog towels to ketchup! The view is amazing our dog loved sitting at the picture window watching the birds fly by. Cooking in the kitchen was fantastic everything you need and a view too! Bathrooms were modern and well appointed and shampoo etc provided. Beds were comfortable and we found the floor heating worked well, we turned the extra heater on a couple of times. We loved the way the elevator opened up to the condo I am hoping I will be able to bring my parents, my Dad is a wheelchair. The place was spotless when we arrived compliments to the cleaners or Denise the owner! We will be back for sure.

I have stayed at quite a few now and this one is by far the best. Pristine condition with every amenity you can think of. The view is the best ocean front you can get and the beach access was practically right outside the door, so easy to access the beach. Close to all coastal places you would want to visit. The owner is a total pleasure to work with also. Highly recommend this place!!!

We had an excellent time staying at Windows on the Sea. The condo has a fantastic view of the ocean and is very beautiful. Every little detail was thought out and taken care of.
It gets a little ding for "comfort" 4 out of 5 stars because the radiant heat in these condos is very poor and you can't get much hot water while also heating the condo. Not that big a deal and a space heater is provided and also wouldn't be an issue anytime but the winter.
Also note: the other rentals in this building are ran by a rental company and we have had a very bad experience with them in the past. If you want to stay in the building, this one "Windows on the Sea" is the one to stay in and has the best view by far.Response from Denise Richards - 03/17/2013

I'm so glad you had a wonderful stay! We now have a brand new 120- gallon hot water tank! Unfortunately, the water heaters originally installed in this building by the developer were not sufficient to both comfortably heat the space and also handle unlimited hot water use. But now my personal unit has got all the hot water you could want, so please do come back sometime and enjoy that 80-gallon bathtub!

Where do I start? Working with Denise was so effortless and her directions for getting in the condo were easy to follow. Once in the door I was blown away with the view...the ocean was right there. Never mind the fully equipped and modern kitchen or the extra clean bathrooms and the comfortable beds...the ocean was right there. And then there was the wonderful heated floors. My feet have never been so warm. Rockaway Beach has several very nice restaurants as well as antique and gift shops, but my favorite part of the day was watching the beautiful sunset. And did I mention the ocean was right there? I plan on going back whenever I can.

My week at "Windows on the Sea" could not have been more perfect. The condo was beautiful and comfortable, and the view was stunning. I was only steps from an amazing beach, and I had a front-row seat from which to watch some wonderful and powerful storms roll through. Spectacular view is right!
I went to Rockaway with the intention of working; upon arriving, I rejected that notion. The space was so comfortable and private that I decided to retreat and reflect. I am better for having done so.
I felt like I was at home--I had all of the amenities that I love and appreciate in my own home. Denise has added so many tasteful touches that all I needed were my own clothes and some groceries. The kitchen was organized and well-stocked (spices, condiments, tea and coffee; top-notch pots & pans, dishes & cutlery, and utensils; etc.). The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The bedrooms were quiet, and the king-size bed in the second bedroom was a treat. I much preferred this to staying in a hotel, or staying with friends and/or family. For the week that I was at "Windows" I was truly in a space that felt like mine.
And now ... a word from my dog. Dog-friendly! Fun dog bowls, soft dog towels, and a great view of the birds on the beach! Dog-appropriate! Big waves, sea foam, smelly things on the beach--way better than the dog park. Woof!
I really can't say enough, and I am already planning for my next visit. "Windows on the Sea" is beyond fabulous! Thank you, Denise, for sharing your little piece of paradise."

My husband and I have been coming to Rockaway for years now and we always stay at different beach houses each year. Not anymore! We have found our home away from home. This condo is just perfect. We had the most relaxing time ever. We didn't have to worry about bringing a thing except for our personal belongings. And it is rare that you find a condo like this that will allow pets which is a must for us. It took everything we had to tear ourselves away for a few hours to go to dinner one night. The rest of the time we cooked in one of the most well-stocked kitchens we have ever been in. The beds were so comfortable. We slept like babies listening to the sound of waves right below us. And the big sunken bathtub was certainly a pleasure.
I could go on and on about this place. We will return every year from now on. Probably more than once a year now!

The view was amazing with floor to ceiling windows. We spent much of our time inside staring at the view and watching the sunset. The bed and furniture was very comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed with everything you could want including a gas BBQ on the balcony (we did all our cooking in). The condo was extremely quiet (couldn't hear any noise from neighbors) and it was literally a flight of stairs (or elevator ride) away from the sandy beach.
We loved our visit at this wonderfully comfortable, clean and well appointed condo that was right on the beach. And the best part was that we could bring our dog with us. We will definitely be back and share this place with others. Thank you:)Response from Denise Richards - 10/25/2012

The first words spoken when we walked in was "Wow, let's never leave!".
The huge windows open up to a magnificent view of the ocean, which is steps away. Everything one needs for a stay at the beach is here...kites, beach chairs, all cooking utensils, spices, snuggly blankets... the list goes on & on.

The location was great and within walking distance of the local shops and restaurants. It was great having a place that was pet friendly and very clean. As mentioned in an earlier review, the housekeeping does an amazing job. The check in instructions were easy to follow and the condo was outfitted very nicely. It was great that the Oregon Coast is so pet friendly, allowing behaved dogs into most stores while shopping. Our dog loved the view as well.

You'll love this 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo as it's so close to the beach and has floor to ceiling windows out towards the ocean. The condo is well-maintained, with everything you'll need from a coffee maker and coffee to beach towels and a great flat-screen TV. The owner gives very clear directions and replies quickly to emails. We had no problems and would go again when we can.

This beautiful, light-filled condo overlooks the ocean with the most breathtaking view you can imagine. The beach, just steps from the front door, is perfect for long walks and hunting shells. The gourmet kitchen and attractive, comfortable furnishings add even more to a wonderful stay. An elevator takes you from the covered garage to a private front door entrance on the top floor. No stairs to climb with luggage. A great balcony to watch the evening sun setting over the ocean. No matter what the weather is, you will truly enjoy staying in this condo.

We just got back from a 2 night stay at this beachfront condo and I can not say enough great things about this place. The view couldn't be better, the condo was magnificently appointed and the location was just terrific as a home base for exploring the area.
When we arrived we were in at first awe of the view and the cleanliness of the condo. We started taking inventory of the items we might need for our stay and were stunned how the owner had thought of almost everything. From toilet supplies, soap, shampoo, towels, extra linens, umbrellas, beach chairs, dvd/cd library and a kitchen that was so well stocked with cooking utensils and condiments that we did not need to buy anything other than the steak and crab that we cooked up one night.
I would definatley recommend this unit to anyone looking at staying on the Oregon Coast. We were close enough to head up to astoria north of us and Lincoln City to the south and everyhting in between was easy. Rockaway Beach is a bit quiet but everything you might need is in town or at the very least in Tillamook a short 15 minute drive away.
All in all, whether with friends, family or alone, you will not be disappointed.

This is a great condo that looks out over grassy dunes and the beach. One can't see any other buildings out the expanse of floor to ceiling windows. Very private. Wonderfully furnished with comfortable couches, beds and everything one could want in a kitchen and a small deck with grill. Clean to boot. The beach walking is the best. Close by seafood shop and a small town making cooking a breeze.

Internet Explorer ate my 1st review and photos so this will be brief. Go to Denise's website, www.windowsonthesea.com, for more photos and info on what the condo contains. This is the most honest, truthful vacation rental website I've seen/read. What is shown and what is in print is, in fact, what you're going to get. It's been a perfect week. Denise's recent addition of the gas bbq grill sure helped us out. Soothing colors in the condo, all very tastefully done, And we're not even talking about the incredible view from the huge windows and easy beach access. This is our first time to Rockaway, a very peacefully quiet beach, and hopefully will not be our last visit. Thank you, Denise, for sharing your second home!

My wife and I love the simplicity of Rockaway beach. Beach is long and often quiet. We've been going there for many years. Since witnessing the building of the condo a few years ago, I've always thought it would be the the best vantage point. Finally got to stay in it and it didn't disappoint. Wall to wall view of the north end of Rockaway beach, truly a gourmet kitchen, comfy and roomy bedrooms, elevator that empties right into the condo, smart collection of books and movies, did I mention wall to wall view of the beach? They allow dogs too, which is a must for us. The condo is warmed by radiant heat from the floor, which I'm especially fond of.
Denise, the owner was always available by phone and extremely accommodating.
We've stayed at a variety of hotels/condos on Rockaway in the past 20 years and this place tops everything. Also the price is reasonable.
If you've never been to this area of Oregon, this condo is in a good sight seeing location, that is if you can peel yourself away from the sofa in the living room looking at the amazing view. -

We really enjoyed our stay. The lodging was beautifully and elegantly appointed, but very comfortable. The expansive view of the beach from the living room window is spectacular, and lends itself to both rainy and sunny days. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped. and there is an impressive book and DVD library. While there I did not want to drive anywhere because the location is so magical. Even though it rained the first day I felt like was still having a quality beach experience because of the lodging. I can't imagine how it could be more perfect and will definitely recommend this place to friends.

The ocean front view from this 2nd level, 2 bdrm 2bath condo is nothing less than spectacular! With large floor to ceiling windows, you feel like you have front row seats as you watch the waves. The condo is very clean & nicely decorated. Rockaway Beach is a small, quite town. Restaurants are limited & some closed early in March. But, there are many restaurants in Cannon Beach, 26 miles north, & some in Tillmook, 14 miles south. It's a great place & we will definitely return!

Location, location, location! This was a great place and would totally stay here again. Best vacation rental ever, fabulous location, and it offers all the comforts, bells and whistles that a traveler could wish for. The extremely well-equipped kitchen made our stay with our little one a breeze! It was a very nice touch that the house also had a good selection of music and movies. Charming, elegant, sparkling clean with an amazing view and pet friendly! Our sweet furry girls loved it too! I would recommend this place to everyone.

This condo is a Jewel. We booked our next stay the day I arrived. Extrodiarily clean. Everything you could want is at your fingertips. Big bath towels, well stocked kitchen (even condiments), huge showers and tub, plenty of comfy blankets and pillows, washer/dryer, dishwasher, ice machine in frig, nice flat screen tv, dvd player, movies, games and even books. The view is spectaular-very private. Only a few steps to the beach and being on this end of the beach is nice--even less people. I have to mention how cool it was to have your own elevator open right up into the condo. They provide a cool cart so you stay dry and get your car unloaded in one quick trip. It is a bit on the expensive side, but this isn't your typical beach rental...it is a destination and really is worth every penny. Plus if you go on off season or during the week it is more affordable.

Everything about this condo was comfortable and beautiful, and the winter rates that we took advantage of were unbeatable for what we got! All the amenities you would want and lots of extras that made us feel like we were staying at a hotel. The kitchen was very well equipped, the rooms tastefully decorated and huge windows right on the beach. The only thing to be aware of is that since you're on the north end of Rockaway Beach, you can't see the twin rocks (from indoors) like you can with a rental on the south end.

Oh, the view! This lovely, quiet condo welcomed us with an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows on the ocean. We spent a lot of time sitting on the very comfy couch,looking out at the sea life with the high-quality binoculars provided by the owner. We were very impressed by the cleanliness, comfort, good taste and considerate amenities. All the essential kitchen things such as coffee, olive oil, salad dressing, and basic seasonings were provided. The dishes, glassess, pots and pans are all new and of nice quality, as well as a few appliances such as a food processor, etc. The owner has taken the time and trouble to create a very thorough and helpful guide to the condo and to the surrounding area - be sure to read it! She has also provided a nice selection of movies, music and books. (If you like puzzles and board games, bring your own.) The beds are very comfortable, with high-quality, luxurious bedding, and soap and shampoo were provided in case you forgot your own. Although it's a condo, we found the place very quiet and private.
