London, United KingdomWow a fantastic holiday home, you must visit!!!

We stayed at Mountain Pond house as part of our 3 week vacation, the house is located in an outstanding location, facilities are everything you could ask for. William is a exceptional host and was always available to assist, with information on the local area and to have a neighbourly chat.
The hiking trails were a big bonus and allowed us to have a view of a good array of wildlife, my lasting memory of the house will be sitting on the deck as night falls listening to the Frogs.
A great place to relax and unwind, but close enough to Lexington for essentials.

We rented the house for a long weekend and had an amazing time! The house is beautifully finished and extremely comfortable--all the details were taken care of. We especially enjoyed hiking on the mowed trails, cooking out on the fire pit bbq, and spending our nights looking at stars and listening to the frogs. The owner was very friendly and brought us more firewood when we mentioned we were out. Location was excellent--very close to Lexington, but also secluded and private. We were sad to leave!

My daughter, her two boys 7 & 12 and I spent two and a half wonderful days at Mountain Pond House. Pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the house nor can words describe the relaxing nature of the area. We plan to return as soon as possible for another great adventure. Highly recommend for those looking for a relaxing change of pace.

We are a family with 3 children ranging in age from 5-12. This was a perfect getaway for us, close enough to some activities, but far enough removed that we could enjoy the nature - walks around the grounds, canoeing in the pond, and watching the family of geese come and go. Mr. Payne was an excellent host, making sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with items visitors may need - an unexpected extra that makes one feel welcomed. The house itself is beautifully furnished in country style. Thank you for letting us share in this mountain paradise! We're thinking about going back, without the kids this time!

Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful house!! It was a perfect place for Mike and I to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary! You and your wife seemed to anticipate everything - there were so many touches that made it feel like home. Even though the weather didn't fully cooperate, the house and surrounding hill and mountain views completely made up for it! When the pond is covered with a light fog, it's just magical, especially with the birds and peeper frogs singing to all who'll listen. Even the geese came to say good-bye on our last day! Thank you for the use of the boat. Mike took me out on the pond and I'm happy to report that the maiden voyage of the SS Minnow was a complete success! Also, thank you for the recommendation of Just Kay's Cafe, we went there for lunch after checking out Goshen Pass on Saturday, such a great place and excellent fried green tomatoes!! Everywhere we went, everyone was incredibly friendly! We can't wait to come back!!

I took my husband to this wonderful weekend hideaway in July 2010 for his birthday. We fell in love with the beauty and peacefulness of the location. We were so impressed with it, we made reservation for October of 2010 before leaving. We took two of our close friends in October and it was once again a perfect weekend. All you need to bring is provisions. The house is perfect in every way with all the comforts of home. If you love being in the great outdoors and a tranquil, stress- free enviroment, this place is for you. For us, it is now a mandatory twice a year weekend getaway, especially since we can now bring our beloved pet. It is a quick 2 hour drive from Northern Viriginia. We found it perfect for us as a couple and again with our friends. We highly recommend it.

Mountain Pond House was incredible! The pictures on the website don't even do it justice...We arrived after dark, so when I woke up and looked outside the next morning it took my breath away. I wish we had been able to stay there longer, but I know I will definitely be staying there again! I have recommended this place to a number of my friends, and I can't wait to return there myself! Mr. Payne is an absolute gem to work with!

Each year we try to find a cabon that is out of the way for the peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle. This past august we found that in the Mountain Pond House. This beautful cabin is situated not only on over 100 acres but is also right on a pond which brought my children many hours of fishing. We spent time hiking the trails around the property as well and spotted many deer. The Payne's hospitality cannot be beat. We will surely be returning to the Mountain Pond House in the near future!

The Mountain Pond House was beautiful! The home and it's surroundings surpassed our expectations. The home is extrememely well equiped and has everything you need to cook indoors or out! We highly recommend it for family or friend gatherings! Great for adventuring outdoors and fairly close to Lexington and horse country.
