Cuchara, COA memorable vacation!
Left on 05/04/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We have just returned from one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had!!
The "cottage" is so homey and comfortable. Everything you could need is there Jim suggested several daytrips that we might enjoy but honestly, we were so content we didn't need to go anywhere else !! Many hours were spent sitting out on the back deck with the flowers, the amazing trees, birds, squirrels. We enjoyed many good restaurants, the beach, the shops, fishing. A wonderful month. We will be back! Thank you, Jim and Linda, for everything!Response from A.J. Sumner - 05/06/2013

As two babyboomers who are not interesting in "roughing it," at this stage in our lives, Heritage Oak Cottage was exactly what we were looking for. It became our home away from home.
Ideal for seniors like us, the cottage is convenient to downtown Rockport and the Texas Coast. It also provided a place where our two dogs,Bao and Sadie, were very comfortable and safe.
My mother, 82 years old, visited us during our month at Heritage Oak. Her comment about the cottage sums up our feelings perfectly: "It's a very special place."
We recommend it highly if you are looking for a quiet, convenient stay in a place that is casual but elegant.

I just wanted to thank you for a great stay at your cottage. It was very roomy and comfortable. It had every thing you needed that a typical house would. We will be planning several more trips out there this summer and plan on staying with y'all again.the house is like 4 blocks to the beach and there is a Walmart and Heb within 2 miles and plenty of restaurants. With 3 grown teenagers, it was perfect. Thanks again.

San AntonioExcellent place to stay
Left on 08/11/2011 for a stay in August 2011
I would highly recommend this cottage for staying in Rockport. The location is very convenient. Home had everything we needed and some little extras. There is no wireless but that was a plus for me as it meant my teens put away their laptop and enjoyed family time. The home is very quiet because it is off the main streets in town but yet it is close to everything you need. The deck is a great place for coffee/reading/relaxing. I would definitely stay here again.

San AntonioA home away from home!
Left on 08/02/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Being from San antonio, when I go down to the coast, it is usually only for the day, because I don't have anyone to take care of my pets while I am away. It was wonderful to find a place where I could take my furry "children" and they were welcomed with open arms. There was even a dog bed, and dog bowls in case I had forgotten theirs. It was a beautiful and cozy home, the rooms were very spacious, and very accomodating. There are movies on the DVR in case you want a night in after going to the beach, which is only a few blocks away, and the home is situated in a great location just off the main road, a few minutes from several restaurants and HEB. The kitchen has supplies for cooking, and there is a coffee pot for you java lovers. The only things missing is a blender, so you have to make due without one. But there is a small bbq pit outside, and the yard is great for relaxing on the deck underneath the shade of a great big tree. Overall the experience was absolutely wonderful, and I can't wait to go out there again!

Austin, TXThe secret is out!
Left on 07/10/2011 for a stay in June 2011
I am telling all my friends about my recent stay at Heritage Oak Cottage in Rockport, and I'm already planning to return! It was the most relaxing break I've had in a long time.
Located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood just blocks from the beach & shops, it gently soothes you back to a simpler lifestyle. Outside you can sit or walk among the many flowering plants, spot a butterfly or firefly, watch the birds as they frequent the feeders, or just gaze at the majesty of the ancient oak tree that dominates the back yard.
Inside, the comfort and design of the cottage defies its stated size of 1300+ sq ft! The cute kitchen is just the right size to prepare meals without wasted steps and the owners have thoughtfully stocked the pantry with all the necessary utensils & cookware. The three bedrooms are each uniquely furnished for comfort and privacy. There is plenty of room to stretch out in the living area to read, play games, or watch something on TV. You can even record your favorite program on the DVR while you're out having fun at the beach or dining at one of the local restaurants! Add to that the convenience of the location for shopping, sunning on the beach, or visiting the local art or historic areas, and I didn't want to leave.
I am so glad someone recommended this cottage to me. My first trip was short, but I'm planning a longer stay in the future. Until my next visit, I'll be passing the word along!
Thanks for a great place to get away!Response from A.J. Sumner - 07/10/2011

AustinBest vacation in years!
Left on 07/08/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Our time at the cottage was amazing! I was so relaxed and refreshed after our week at the house in Rockport. The house was surprisingly roomy and instantly homey! It had everything we needed (including kitchen gadgets, super comfy linens, washer/dryer, and even boogie boards!). We started every morning with a relaxing stroll through the lovely tree-lined neighborhood, sometimes ending up at the town coffee shop or marina, sometimes just circling the block and enjoying the amazing trees and lovely sea breeze. The house is within walking distance from the beach/bay and historic town center. With so much to do within a short radius, it was still next to impossible to drag ourselves off of that beautiful back deck and out of that great backyard. (The sprawling live oak is jaw-dropping!) I can't wait to go again. This is the relaxing home away from home I have always wanted in a rental! We are planning our next trip to the cottage already!

What a wonderful, cozy cottage. Our time at the cottage was limited, due to a family reunion that weekend, but we truly enjoyed our stay. Our two little dogs, Heidi and Tucker really enjoyed running around the shaded back yard. The back deck was a wonderful place to sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy watching the birds each morning.

Perham, MinnesotaA stay to remember
Left on 03/22/2011 for a stay in February 2011
From the first moment that we had contact with the owner we felt a connection and a sense of dedication to making our stay one that we will always remember. The owner was prompt at replying to our inquiry, straight forward in answering our questions and very willing to accommodate any special wishes.
The day we arrived Jim and his wife met us at the property, showed us around the clean and tastefully decorated home and immediately made us feel welcome. They took time to explain the neighborhood, the community and their expectations. We were pleasantly surprised to find the home equipped with all the basics and also extra paper towels, basic spices, and even treats for our dog. All of our questions were promptly answered and we were given great advice on places to see, to eat and where the best birdng sites were located. Being in town offered convenience, and yet with a gorgeous tree and a fenced backyard we had all the privacy we desired. This house quickly became like our second home and we loved every minute of our stay, In fact, we have already reserved again for next year. We could not have found a more comfortable home and more accommodating landlords for our stay.Response from A.J. Sumner - 03/27/2011

This is a charming small home/cottage that has been completely brought up to date, with a full kitchen, satellite TV, wonderful furnishings, and a beautiful landsacpe. It is within walking distance of the harbor and other points of interest.
It is a perfect setting for those looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat as well as those who may want to take in all the activities offered on the Gulf coast.
