      Nice stay

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The rooms very very clean, location was acceptable. However, I would recommend to the owner to improve the water pressure in shower, sometimes it was really difficult to have warm and strong shower, not speaking about the hair washing:)
The service and attitude of the owner was excellent, his English was extraordinary good and he provided us with useful advices.
The breakfast served in nearby cafeteria was simple, but excellent.
I appreciate the stay there very much.

It's all about the Hosts, and These are Top Notch

Left on 10/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Giuseppe and alice are the best. We were in Italy for three weeks this spring, hitting all the tourist cities, G&A; and Rome was the first stop. They set the bar so high that it was never cleared in any other city. Need a restaurant recommendation? Just ask. Need to plan transportation? Just ask. Need guidance on Italian? Just ask. (Giuseppe's English is excellent and alice was born in North america). Accommodations were airy and clean with a very nice kitchen for guests.

      Excellent Stay in Rome!

Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Three families (9 people) shared this rental for 3 nights in Rome--it was perfect! Giuseppe was a amazing host--he did laundry (for a very small fee), arranged car rides to various places, and answered our million questions. I would definitely stay here again (and I'll be back, because I threw in a coin in the Trevi Fountain!). The rooms were clean, cool from the a/c (a must in July!), kitchen just right for snack time, and a 20 minute walk to the beautiful Colosseum. We were close to a bus stop (but be forewarned, it didn't come all that frequently), a quick cab ride from Termini Station, and around the corner from cafe's, restaraunts, and markets. We loved staying here and feeling like a 'local'. You won't be disappointed in alice's B&B;!

Great place to stay in Rome!

Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This was a great place to stay for our four nights in Rome! Giuseppe is an excellent host and stopped by several times to see if we needed anything. He was very accommodating about helping to point out attractions and give us a good sense of where we were and where to go. We shared the apartment with friends - each of us had one of the rooms in the 3-room apartment and shared the communal kitchen. The main hallway became our gathering spot, although it was a bit small and we had to pull out chairs from our room. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. The hot water in the shower was a bit tricky so we learned to take very quick showers and enjoy the cool water ones. The vouchers for breakfast were a great way to introduce us to Italian culture - getting a coffee and pastry at the counter was a good adventure. Both of the breakfast places were fun to experience and had great food/coffee. We also loved visiting the market which was right around the corner and picked up several things to make snacks and lunch - meat, cheese, bread, fruit and more. The wi-fi was the best we had in Italy. We would absolutely stay there again.

A home away from home in one of the best cities on earth!

Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in May 2011

My wife and I stayed here on our dream vacation to Italy. It was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Carol and Guiseppe treated us like friends and were indespensible in providing advice on where to visit, and what restaurants to eat at. The B and B is away from the bustling downtown core, but we still managed to walk everywhere, using the Coliseum as our starting point, which is only about a 20 minute walk away. The rooms are seperate from the main apartment and make you feel as though you are staying in your own apartment as opposed to somebody's home. We stayed in the Red Pompei room, and it offered ample space, cleanliness and comfort during our stay, along with its own private bath. The shared common use kitchen was fine, especially as we never even saw the other person staying on the property. Breakfast one day consisted of a pastry and coffee from a little shop down the street, and the other day was provided by Guiseppe himself (since the shop was closed) consisting of pastries, cheeses, fruits and beverages. The restaurants in the area are wonderful (try the pizza at Pizzaria 2000!!), just remember that they don't open until later than tradtional North american eateries. All in all, there is no question that we will stay there again if we ever make it back to Rome. I recommend it to everybody that I know who is visiting the city.

we liked being in an ordinary residential location with great local restaurants and being able to get away from the tourist traps in the evenings. For that it was worth the extra travelling with public transport to the centre of Rome which was certainly cheap!
The communcal kitchen next to our room was really convenient for making tea and snacks.

      Great location

Left on 02/27/2012 for a stay in October 2011

      Visited Rome in October,
The location is great. Rome is a place where you could walk from one end to another with no problems anyway.
Very close to the Tube and train stations. Tube tickets are very cheap (1 euro). To our surprise, you can even use the same ticket to get to the seaside.
Even with the little kid and the pram it was a pleasant experience (bare in mind that Rome is a very old City, hence using the pram was a challenge at times, but still nothing to worry about). Hosts are brilliant, always happy to help.
We were in Rome during the riots, and thanks to a advise from Guseppe, we managed to explore the City without getting anywhere near the fights. Most days we used the tube first thing in the morning then spend the entire day walking around Rome. It is so beautiful than you would not want to use a public transport anyway. There is also 2 local fruit and veg. markets, so we always picked some fresh fruits first in the morning. Breakfast is served in the local restaurant (2 to choose from).
he flat has got 2 rooms so you get to share the kitchen annexe. Our room had a separate bathroom, so no queuing up in the morning.
All in all we had a fab. time in Rome. Thank you to Guseppe and his family.

      Excellent accommodations in Rome

Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We had an exceptional stay in Rome at alice's B&B.; Our room was comfortable and quite and the location was ideal for visiting all the attractions of Rome with easy access to the Metro. Giuseppe and Carol were generous hosts and helped us navigate our way around. They made excellent recommendations for dining and Giuseppe even took us to the train station very early in the morning on our way out of Rome.

There are only a few things we'd suggest changing. It was nice that a light breakfast was included but it was really light. A bit more hearty choice with options would have been better. Check in was a little challenging and instructions beforehand would have been helpful.

All in all this is a very good choice. Our hosts were accommodating and generous. I'd certainly stay again if I had the chance.

Roma hospitality at its very best

Left on 07/25/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights in June w/ my girlfriend, father, and brother. Best hospitality I have received at a place of lodging in USa or Europe. Ever. Giuseppe treats you like a long lost friend. He will provide you with detailed "insider information" about sites, food and activities in Rome, cook your breakfast, do your laundry, and arrange for a cab to pick you up at 5 am. The place is clean, quiet, very safe, and located in a cool neighborhood close to the Colisseum and appian Way, but is far enough out from the hords of tourists you will find closer to the city center. Great place. Stay here if you want to remember more about Rome than just the sites.

      Absolutely would recommend!

I love alice's B&B;, almost as much as I love gelato!
B&B; owner Giuseppe made our trip to Rome truly special. The B&B; was easy to find by taxi, on a safe/quiet street (which was a welcome retreat from the hustle bustle of the city). Very impressed with how clean and new everything looked inside the apartment. Bedrooms were big by European standards and had nice comfy beds with crisp sheets. The common area has a full kitchen which was convenient for making quick snacks.
Giuseppe made our trip to Rome an unforgettable experience. He introduced us to sights we would have otherwise never found. He also helped us find nearby restaurants that served some of the best (and affordable!) food on our trip. We left alice's B&B; promising Giuseppe that we would return -- and we can't wait to go back.
I highly recommend this B&B; for a groups of 4 (or more) that are looking for a comfortable alternative to a pricey hotel. Giuseppe truly goes above & beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and perfect!

      Alice's Bed and Breakfast

Left on 07/16/2011 for a stay in June 2011

My daughter and I stayed in alice's Bed and Breakfast for 4 nights in June 2011 and we found it an extremely clean, comfortable and convenient home away from home. Centrally located in Rome within a short walk to busses and metro; Alice's proved to be situated in a safe and typically Italian neighborhood with excellent restaurants just around the corner. The owner, Giuseppe could not have been more friendly and helpful. He not only served as tour guide in his direction giving, but was un-missable in helping us to obtain our vouchers for the Vatican museum; Giuseppe raced around in the pouring rain on his Vespa in order to print out our tickets. A true above and beyond the call-of-duty action!
We would definitely stay here again and-- as we threw our coins in the Trevi fountain...we'll be back!

      Wonderful Stay!

Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We had a wonderful stay at alice's B&B.; Guiseppe was a very kind, warm and accommodating host. The room was very clean, with a super-comfy bed and nice linens. The bathroom was also very clean, a nice size with a shower/bathtub combination that had great water pressure and plenty of of hot water! The breakfast at Mario's Cafe is also very good; a brioche and cappucino is a delicious way to start the day of sightseeing. The location of the B&B; is great, just 15 minutes walk to the Coloseo. We used the metro from San Giovanni to go to and from Vatican City and some further distances. Within the neighborhood we recommend walking through the market, which the locals use everyday for grocery shopping, and picking up a few small tastes of local produce, deli meats, cheese and bread. It was very fun. If you have the time (and the legs), we recommend getting over to Trastevere and having dinner at Ivascellari on Piazza Ponziani for a wonderful meal!

We had a great stay at alice's B&B.; Carol contacted the transfer company for us when our plane was delayed. Giuseppe greeted us with a smile, even though we arrived very late in the evening.

Throughout our stay Giuseppe gave us ideas and directions.

The room was very clean and updated with a large shower. The B&B; was located in a quant quiet neighborhood about a mile south of the colosseum. You can hope on one bus that will take you right down to the city center in about 10 minutes. For the price, this is a great find. We will be staying here on our next Roman holiday.

The room at alice's was comfortable, had all we needed and the location was okay. For the price it was a great place. The only negative was the fact that we only saw our host once when we checked in and as we ran out the door 3 nights later. Quiet Neighborhood Just a Bus Ride away from It all

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Our family stumbled upon alice's Bed and Breakfast while planning or holiday in Rome for Easter - and we are so pleased that we did! We were traveling with a baby, 5 year old, 8 year old and our in-laws. Lots of people and luggage - so we grabbed a cab from the cab stand at Termini Train Station (as suggested by Giuseppe), gave the taxi driver the address and we were at the B&B; in 10 minutes!! We were greeted at the front door and Giuseppe helped us with our luggage and gave us a tour of the B & B. It is a 3 bedroom unit with a common kitchen. The rooms are bright and cheery, with comfortable beds, an armoire, desk, TV, alarm clock and full bathroom. Our family of 5 stayed comfortably in the green room (one baby bed, and 2 people in each of the beds). My in-laws had a separate bedroom with a double and single bed (as well as all the other mentioned amenities).

The B & B is a little outside of the typical touristy area - and we were happy it was! The restaurants, open air markets and quietness made it all worth while! Each morning, we were able to go to a near by Cafe for coffee and a pastry (typical Italian breakfast), as part of our stay at alice's. Getting to all of "must see" attractions was very easy - we could either catch a near by bus (to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine...) or subway (to the Vatican, Vatican Museum...) to the sites. We never walked more than 10 minutes to get to public transportation from alice's B & B.

If we get back to Rome - Alice's B&B; is where we will stay! Thank you, Giuseppe for everything!

We've just got back from Rome, where we stayed at alice's B&B; (2 families). It was a perfect stay:

      - location/price balance is very good - only 20 min from Coliseum and old ruins/ or 10 min to subway station

Alice's was a wonderful place to stay!

Left on 04/07/2011 for a stay in March 2011

I recently stayed at alice's with 5 friends. I have nothing bad to say about the place! We arrived earlier than expected, however this was not a problem for the owners and we were able to drop off our luggage so we could go explore the city. We had two rooms between the 6 of us and this worked out perfectly. The owners even helped us arrange transportation from the airport to their place. We only stayed one night and in the morning we had trouble with our transportation to another city. Guiseppe went above and beyond, not only did he speak to the company we hired, but also waited with us to make sure they did arrive. He also suggested alternate transportation just in case our ride fell through. Guiseepe then arranged another ride for us at the end of the trip, even though we were not returning to his B and B. His service and assistance was amazing! I would definatly recomend alice's and would stay again!
The location is not far from the metro either, about a 5-10 min walk.

      Like Staying with Family

Left on 01/20/2011 for a stay in January 2011

Staying in alice's Bed and Breakfast is like a stay with family in the big city because that's just like you're treated, like family. Giuseppe took real good care of us, making sure that we were properly settled in before his departure and also giving us some tips about the local area which we used time and again. Because we stayed through New Year's Day, he also gave us a couple of gifts (bottle of champagne and a nice Italian calendar) to warm our stay. The only things I would think of changing are the breakfast, which was essentially a brioche and a cup of coffee per person (we're used to something more substantial) and probably investing in a television satellite service that shows more than Italian versions of QVC. These were just minor impediments as we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

      Welcome to Roma

Left on 11/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010

The location of the apartment is pretty good -not fare from center (only 20-30 minutes to walk, very quiet. If you hate walking you may take a bus (bus stop nearby).
The house itself is not modern, but I like that kind of building.
The inside is properly remodeling. For my opinion it is better to have some table in the kitchen and few chairs. ( I suppose that our visit was directly in the transition time.)
The people we contact were very friendly and helpful.
That is very good that we found many useful information in the apartment with maps and public transport schemes.
Also small breakfast is a very good thing to start day without waisting time.

Left on 11/09/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Our first trip to Europe/Rome and we could not have picked a better location or cleaner accomadations. We were within walking distance of the Sites, good places to eat, hop on /off tour busses. The Vouchers made it convienent to pick multiple local establishments to enjoy breakfast.
The manager went above and beyond to personnelly
drive us to the airport, in the early morning hours, after our cab did not arrive on time.
We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this as a place to stay and enjoy the local atmosphere of Rome.

      Excellent B&B; in Rome

Left on 11/08/2010 for a stay in October 2010

This is an apartment converted three separate rooms. The room that we has was en-suite. There was also a shared kitchen area. The owner lives in a (completely separate) apartment on the same floor. On arrival, you are given vouchers that can be exchanged for a light breakfast (coffee & a pastry) at a nearby cafe. There is free wireless broadband available but you do have to take your own computer.

The room was extremely clean with high quality furniture & fittings. The overall standard is much higher than I would expect from a hotel costing twice as much.

      The couple who own the rooms were unfailingly friendly & helpful at all times & were always happy to provide advice about local restaurants, transport links etc. The whole experience was more like visiting close friends than staying at a B&B.;

The apartment building was very secure & the area it is quiet & felt completely safe at all times which is in marked contrast to the descriptions I've read of places which are closer to the railway station. There is a good range of cafes/restaurants within easy walking distance.

Public transport links were good & all of the main attractions were within easy reach.

Overall the experience we had was excellent we would certainly stay there again if we ever returned to Rome.

The bed and breakfast was a great place to stay in Rome. The owners were very helpful and went above and beyond during our stay. The place was just freshly remodeled - with a new kitchen - and very clean. Very nicely updated and clean bathrooms. The neighborhood was nice and the cafes for breakfast were good. We would definitely stay here again!!

Homely comfort in Rome at a bargain price

Left on 11/04/2010 for a stay in October 2010

My husband and I chose to stay at alice´s Bed and Breakfast because of many reasons. First it is a great value for money considering how expensive Rome can be, second we did not want to be in the busy and noisy part of the city but we also wanted to be close. When we arrived we were very impressed by the good taste of the room and all the small details ( the hairdrier in the newly renovated bathroom and the sweet smelling shower gel and cream). It felt like we were visiting a friend at their home rather than being in a B&B;!
As soon as we checked in we walked to the centre through a lovely route that took us around many of the monuments. It only took 40 minutes at a very slow and leisurely pace. After spending the day in all the busy touristic parts of Rome it was a pleasure to return to the peaceful neighbourhood and our pleasant room.

The next day breakfast was provided at the local coffee shop. Both the coffee and the pastries provided were great.

In the evening we had a good choice of restaurants where to have our dinner and to top it all up the confectiornary which makes best known tiramisu in the city is very near.

I have already told all my friends about alice´s B6B and I also recommend it to everyone else. We will certainly return together with our children (as you can rent adjoining rooms)...

Ideal base to explore the city, although location could be a little more central. Value for money, and the decoration is very inviting. My husband and I stayed with my mother-in-law and there was enough privacy with two bathrooms.

Only fault is that it was very difficult to find, having walked up and down the street several times.

Very comfortable, tranquil stay in downtown Roma.

Left on 10/13/2010 for a stay in August 2009

Very quiet, very clean and comfortable. Air-conditioning was a real plus in the hot august weather. The location was great for me, a little out of the middle of town, but still easily accessible by bus, taxi or on foot (I like to walk!).
Breakfast was an arrangement with a nearby cafe, which was a real slice of Roman morning life, rather than a staid breakfast room. The small kitchen was very welcome on days when I didn't want to go out for a meal.
If someone were looking for a spot in the middle of the action, this is a little off the beaten track. If a guest had mobility issues, this would pose some challenges (2 flights of stairs). The welcome was friendly, but the service was not in any way intrusive.

We enjoyed our stay in the Pompeian Red Room; lovely bedding, linens and facilities. This room shares a hallway and kitchen with another room and this did cause some disturbance, especially as the doors into the hallway are frosted glass. We were woken early by lights in the hallway. (Blinds would solve this problem) We would have liked a location map available, as the street location is just outside the city walls and does not appear on city maps. Great to have free wi fi. Close to bus stop

I have been in this B&B just for three days but I can say that the room was very clean and beautiful. All the house is very comfortable you can also use a little kitchen to cook your dinner !:).
It is situated near the Bus Stop and at about five/ten minutes to the subway. The breakfast is simply fantastic you can enjoy it without being aware of the time because it is served by the little Bar just in front of the B&B, in typical Italian style : "Cornetto and Cappuccinoâ€.....

They were much less expensive than any other places I could find and was pleasantly surprised to see what nice accommodations they were for the price.

A great B&B;, lovely old building in a residential area so you really get to see and feel how the Romans live. It has newly remodeled rooms and a large group could rent all 3 rooms and have a private "wing". When we left there was a plan to put in a kitchen which would be even better. Clean and simple, probably one of the quieter places in Rome. Bus is 2 blocks down and the metro another 2...so you are into the heart of Rome in no time. One owner is american (so perfect English) and the other is Italian---but his English is perfect as well! Extremely helpful and considerate.

A gem near the Baths of Caracalla

Left on 08/30/2010 for a stay in March 2010

With extremely reasonable rates, and immaculate and comfortable rooms, this gem of a bed and breakfast/ private apartment made our stay in Rome one of the best we've ever had. This was our third time in Rome. The rooms were light and airy. Above all, they were quiet in the evening, being away from the touristy neighborhoods and the loud evening traffic. The apartment had free wireless internet connection which we found useful in keeping in touch back home. (please note you need to bring your own laptop.) Each room had its own tv.

There are two different bus lines very close by, and a metro stop just a short walk further. We were at Termini Station in about ten minutes by bus. (Buy an unlimted weekly ticket at Termini Station and you are set to go!)

Since the rooms had a kitchenette, we enjoyed shopping at the local market, buying very fresh produce, beef and cheese. Although we don't speak Italian, the owners of the food stalls were all very polite and helpful.

The owners are right there in the building and very helpful! (They speak perfect English.) They were able to help us get cabs to and from the airport and a good pharmacy in the area. One of us got sick!

We found the neighborhood to be well served by restaurants and shops.

I work part time with FaO and this bed and breakfast is within a 10 minute walking distance. The neighbourhood is very Roman. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well outfitted. I've stayed several times and the hosts are very accomodating. The bed is comfortable and the room size is very nice by European standards.
