      Our apartment while in Rome

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in April 2013

This apartment was great. It is located near the Coliseum. We found the apartment very clean and well appointed. Natalia and Walter were awesome to arrange our transportation from the ship to the apartment then to the airport when it was time to leave. They are friendly and very prompt to answer any questions. I look forward to returning to Rome and would stay here again!

Dolce Roma apartment in the heart of the great city

Left on 05/09/2013 for a stay in April 2013

To find an apartment in Rome is a sophisticated task. I have spent many hours exploring numerous sites and at the end I got lost. What finally made me chose "Dolce vita" apartment amongst many other similar apartments in the center were the nice comments about the hosts. From their description I felt that Natalia and Walter know very well what a tourist needs to feel at home. And I was not disappointed!

From the first moment I was in a Skype and e-mail connection with Walter and had answers to all my questions. They organized our transfer from the airport and I strongly recommend this to everybody. We were met with a welcome breakfast and a very detailed description about the apartment and the tourist sightseeing. Natalia also recommended us some very nice local restaurants where we found real Italian food. We were supplied with a cell phone to connect them and to be called when necessary. They even left us some medical emergency phones.

Very soon we realized that this is the perfect place for us:

      * the location is great, it is within a walking distance from the main Rome tourist places and a good starting point for our night walking tours

      * the apartment is next to Coliseum, but it is very quiet and we had wonderful rest

      * the bedrooms are spacious and with real beds

      * there was hot water all the time thanks to the gas water-heater

      * the two bathrooms were a good convenience for the four of us

      * the kitchen is supplied with all the necessary equipment and kitchenware

      * Wi-Fi Internet connection is fast, impeccable and there is even a Usb-charger for the tablets and smart phones :)

      * we found many tourist guide books about Rome and Italy, interesting books and Cd-s. We benefited by the guest book to choose more interesting places around the apartment.

I have already started to recommend the apartment and the extradionary caring hosts to all my friends!

      Perfect For Us!!

Left on 03/30/2013 for a stay in March 2013

My husband and I and our two daughters (14 & 11) stayed in this apartment for 11 days. We found the apartment to be perfectly located; very central and easy walking distance to everything (10 minutes to the Vatican, 10 minutes to great food in Trastevere, 2 minutes to Campo de Fiori). There was a small grocery store virtually across the street. The apartment had everything we needed and then some. The owners have put a lot of thought into what people may need and tried to ensure it was there for them (my only suggestion would be a clock in the bedroom). We didn't watch a lot of TV but we did appreciate the english news channels and movies for those rainy days. After long days of exploring we had great sleeps in comfortable beds. Closing the double windows made the bedrooms virtually silent. Walter & Natalia went above and beyond both when we arrived to ensure we were oriented in the apartment and for things to do. Throughout our stay, they kept in touch via the cell phone provided or email to make sure we knew when transit strikes or papal inaugeral masses would impede our progress. We would stay in this apartment again in a heartbeat.

      Charming apartment, fantastic location!

Left on 03/25/2013 for a stay in February 2013

From the moment we initiated an email correspondence, Natalia and Walter were accommodating hosts. They took the time to explain all of the important information and answered all our questions promptly. Sadly, we were not able to meet them in person as they were away, but their back-up Stefani was also very helpful. Natalia and Walter arranged a taxi to and from the airport - and that probably saved about 40 euros. Stefani met us at the apartment and took alot of time to explain everything. The free Wifi was great for planning the daily activities and the apartment cell phone came in handy for getting around roaming charges.

The apartment is charming and in a lovely location. The best thing is that everything is within an easy walking distance...the Tiber river is a minute away, the Vatican about 10 minutes, Piazza Navona 10 minutes, the Colosseum about 20 minutes. We really enjoyed exploring all the cobbled streets around the apartment in Campo dei Fiori as there are many excellent restaurants (try Cantina Lucifero), lots of little artisan shops, and a couple of beautiful clothing boutiques. There's a grocery store about 30 seconds away, a beautiful church right across the street, and a cafe right next to it where we had coffee and pastries almost every morning.

The apartment was very clean and more spacious than the online pictures portrayed. The bathrooms really are very small, but there are two so our family of four didn't have any problems coping. There are no elevators but we did see a chair lift that my sons wanted to try out daily rather than climb up two storeys! All of the appliances work well. There is no dryer but there is a clothing rack. We weren't too interested in watching TV, but we did try it one night and couldn't figure out the controls, so if you're hooked on TV, get some instruction at the check-in.

All in all, we highly recommend this apartment and would go back in a second. Thanks Natalia, Walter and Stefani!

From the moment we were greeted by Walter to the end of our stay , he and Natalia couldn't have been more helpful. Walter spent a good hour pointing out places to see, restaurants to visit and gerally making us feel at home. We were picked up at the airport and returned there to pick up our car at the end of our stay. What a fabulous location ! Look out your window and see the Colosseum.

A great apartment for a stay in Rome

Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We have just returned from a great holiday in Rome. This apartment is located in a brilliant spot, very close to the Colosseum but within walking distance of other highlights in Rome.

The apartment is very well appointed and the added touches of coffee, butter, jam etc were greatly appreciated.

Walter and Natalia make this apartment even more special. Walter spent time with us on arrival showing us maps of the area, recommending places to visit that otherwise we would have missed and recommending excellent local restaurants. Our daughter was taken ill whilst we were in Rome and had to go to hospital. Natalia was so helpful in providing support and translation at a very stressful time.

The personal touches and the location of this apartment make it a perfect place to enjoy a great holiday in Rome.

      Poised (comfortably) between two wonders

Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in February 2012

After staying at Natalia's Forum apartment some years ago, we knew this place would be up to the mark. And so it proved. Bright, quiet, well-equipped and spotless, it's also very near two useful Metro stations and a stroll away from Piazza Venezia and beyond. And it is beautifully poised between the Colosseum and the stupendous Lateranese obelisk rearing up near San Giovanni in Laterano, lending a kind of classical gravitas to this narrow one-way street. We lived in Rome decades ago but had never fully explored this enclave, beyond visits to the Basilica San Clemente, a wonderful palimpsest now traceable, layer by layer, down to the first century AD. There is much more--from a 'hidden' convent and the strangely compelling Santo Stefano Rotondo to some exceptional traditional cafes, great trats and restaurants (cheap-and-cheerful Luzzi, snazzy Le Naumachie) and a well-stocked supermarket. In short, it's a perfect bolthole to return to after the usual shattering treks through the fora and beyond.

We were very pleased with all aspects of our experience.

Left on 01/15/2012 for a stay in September 2011

Our transportation from the airport to the apartment went very smoothly. Walter met us and gave us a wonderful introduction to the neighborhood and the apartment. He then directed us to a great little family owned restaurant down the street (Clementini's). We returned here during our stay. We loved walking out of our apartment and being greeted by the Colosseum! How magical is that! We purchased groceries, had gelato, and explored the beautiful gem Basilica of San Clemente. Please take a tour of this church. The history and beauty are remarkable. The apartment had large bedrooms. The sitting area and kitchen were very small, but fine as we were gone most of the time. The two bonus amenities were a washing machine and an Italian coffee pot which Walter showed us how to use. We were very comfortable. The apartment is homey and nicely decorated. We felt safe and slept well. We considered the stairs our daily exercise! Lastly, our compliments to Walter and Natalia for arranging a car to take us to the Vatican on our first morning in Rome at 7:30 am and for their advice when we had a medical prescription question. When you are in new territory, it is wonderful to know you have a local host who is available and cares to help you. We would return to this location or to any apartment that Walter and Natalia owned.

great location, lovely apartment, attentive hosts

Left on 01/14/2012 for a stay in March 2011

We loved our stay at the Colosseum apt, it was so centrally located, we could just walk down the street and see ancient Rome in all of its glory. The spacious apt was lovely , well decorated with huge comfortable beds and two baths. The hosts Natalia and Walter actually met us at the apt after a very long travel day and spent an hour or so showing us everything in the apt and were kind enough to point out all the sights and how to use the public transportation. We have used vacation rentals many times and this was the first time we had a host meet us at the apt and spend time making sure we would have a great stay. We really appreciated the pointers on local restaurants and tourist info. It made the stay smooth and enjoyable. We were there on a festival day so was hectic but the double pane windows made the apt very quiet and enjoyable. They even left a few groceries to make our next morning a breeze. We highly recommend there lovely apartments.

      Experience Rome as a Local

Left on 06/05/2011 for a stay in May 2011

My wife and I spent 6 nights in Rome. We were joined by a foreign exchange student who stayed with us 12 years ago. Our preference is to stay in a local home rather than a hotel and we found this apt to be everything it was described to be by Nalalia and Walter and lived up to the many rave reviews. We were greeted by Natalia who took the time to review our itinerary and make excellent recommendations for additional sites to see, local restaurants, day trips, and use of local transportation. The apt. is ideally located in walking distance to the Colosseum. There is a bus stop just outside the door and a Metro stop across from the Colosseum. We make dinner in the apt. on 3 of our 6 nights and had a continental breakfast in the apt. each morning. There is a pastry shop up the street where we bought fresh from the oven pastries several mornings. There are also 2 small local markets about 100 yds up the street where we purchased fresh fruit and veggies. There are ample cooking supplies but only 2 burners and no oven. Great for simple meals but not intended for anything extensive. The only complaint was a neighbor who played music late at night and kept us up several nights. Natalia has thought of everything from a local map marked with sights, restaurants, etc. to a hair dryer, electrical adapters, secure Wi-Fi and even a local cell phone to receive free calls and call Natalia if necessary. It was a pleasure to come back to an apt. with these amenities rather than a hotel room. If you really want the local Rome experience, stay here. My memories of the local shops and restaurants and enjoying some meals in the apt will last as long if not longer than the visits to the usual tourist sites.

Feel and Home and Like a Local at Dolce Roma

Left on 08/07/2009 for a stay in January 2009

Dolce Roma was everything I thought it would be and more. The place is fantastic and super clean. Travelers are also right in the mix of everything in the city with many sites and excellent restaurants being within walking distance including grocery stores, wine shops, bakeries and much more. The rates for the apartment were excellent and staying at Dolce Roma gave us an opportunity to enjoy the real Italian lifestyle.

Now for the owners. You will never meet nicer people. Natalia and Walter made us feel right at home. They went out of their way to insure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We even had a slight medical emergency which they assisted in handling within a matter of minutes.

Another key note is that our pick up to and from the airport, also arranged by Walter and Natalia was smooth and efficient. You will not be disappointed with Dolce Roma. In fact you will want to return. Thank you Walter and Natalia for your kindness, your help, and in making my mother's dream trip less stressful and secure.

      Wonderful 6 nights in Rome

Left on 08/07/2009 for a stay in May 2009

My husband and I rented the Colosseum View 2 apt for 6 nights and found
it to be perfect! Natalia and Walter had a car meet us at the Airport, then
they met us at the apartment. They showed us how everything worked,
especially the very safe triple-locked door. Natalia had maps for us, great
advise on the "must-see" sights, cell phone for our use (especially to make
reservation for Borghese Gallery), little grocery store, restaurants nearby,
buses and Metro, etc., etc. On our last day, Walter made a reservation for
us for a taxi to the train station - they were both only too happy to make
our visit as enjoyable as possible. Past guests have written in books, giving
all sorts of wonderful advise. We loved everything about the apt - very
comfortable bed, living area and bathrooms compact, everywhere very
clean, lots of towels, quiet, good air conditioning although we were lucky
enough to avoid real heat. I loved to throw open the windows and shutters
and enjoy the area. There was nothing we didn't like, but guests do have to
climb 2 long flights of stairs to the apt (Walter very kindly carried our
luggage). Location was perfect, after a long day touring belle Roma, we
loved walking the few blocks in this wonderful neighbourhood to our little
home. We really felt we were away from the tourists and the hustle and
bustle. Wonderful restaurants almost steps away, little shops, beautiful San
Clemente and Basilica of San Giovanni de Laterano. Took Metro everywhere,
very easy and quick from apt. Would definitely recommend Dolce Roma to
anyone and can hardly wait to return to Roma.

We enjoyed our apartment stay so much. My husband and I travelled with my mother in law and our 2 boys, 8 and 11. Natalia and Walter were so welcoming. The apartment was fresh and clean and more than I expected. There was plenty of information to guide us and Natalia and Walter were quick to answer any questions - including shopping recommendations!
I would certainly not think of staying anywhere else in Rome than at one of Natalia and Walter's apartments.
